Hey Abbie, it was a pleasure sharing a few segments on the trail with you. This is a great video that conveys the equipment needed for the trek. Looking forward to a video about the trail itself if you get to it. Wishing you all the best and much enjoyment on your next treks. Keep inspiring as you do.
This is wild! I walked from Nikkaluokta to Abisko last year like the week before the Classic started. I passed Kebnekaise the day the noro virus outbreak started (the had one of the toilets dedicated for puking ^^). I camped almost in the same spot below Tjäktja pass, a bit higher up I think (the view was gorgeous!!) and stayed a week in Abisko after I finished. So I was in Abisko when you started your hike. I'm a little bummed I didn't see you. I love watching your videos, they're always so relaxing and informative.
Thank you for an interesting video 🫶 we love to watch videos like this now when we are on a big hike ourselves. We hiking through the whole of Sweden so any great tips and advice is appreciated 👍
Thanks you, Abbie! Could you give us a little of your Lapland hike? 20 minutes? 10? Would really love to see what you saw. I'll never be able to go where you go and see what you see. We all look so forward to your adventures.
Interesting to see, thanks Abbie. Agree with you on Adventure Foods. If there's one luxury, decent quality dehydrated food is a good call - nutritionally, physically & mentally. I wonder if you've ever tried making your own.
Can’t find your video on the slate trail, it’s the one I’ve been waiting to come out ! Anyway some good kit you got there , and what a fantastic place to be , see you on the next one ☝️
Wonderful Abbie, the Kungsleden sparked my interest in long distance walking, haven’t got there yet, but one day. Quick question ref the RX100 mark7, do you zoom in and out whilst filming and if so do you record audio via the internal mics? I found my picks up the motors on internal recording, the answer might be using an external mic to have clean audio. Thanks for the video, banked a few suggestions for future…. Bless you.
Hi Abbie, I love your videos and this was really interesting as we are planning to hike the Kungsleden next year. However, I just wanted to mention that even so called environmentally friendly (biodegradable) soaps are still harmful to the environment, especially invertebrates and fish. Consequently, we should never wash directly in a stream or lake. It is essential to wash away from watercourses and dispose of any soapy water in a dug hole at least 30m away from any water. I'm really not trying to preach. I just thought that it was important to highlight this. Keep up the good work.
@AbbieBarnesWILD Hi Abbie, since posting this comment about soap, it occurred to me that in the past I have also underestimated potential environmental impacts from seemingly innocuous actions. For example, last year we hiked the Pyrenean Haute Route and regularly bathed in mountain lakes and streams (without soap) before it was pointed out to me that residual sunscreen was having a detrimental effect on previously untarnished and sensitive aquatic ecosystems. Again, the best approach is to wash it off away from watercourses prior to swimming or bathing. We are all learning. Cheers Steven
You ownly have two manufacturerers to chose from that do, alternative is to use puritabs with your filtered water. Though you're more likely catching something from fellow hikers not the water, like the current Noro Virus outbreaks.
I am addicted to your peaceful videos, which are well researched, and I appreciate every one!

Likewise! Thanks for hiking with me! Keep in touch :)

I have plans to walk Kungsleden in summer 2028 so I'm watching this with much interest :)
Great video as always Abbie! I’m setting off on the Kungsleden on Friday so perfect timing. Look forward to seeing your film on this one 😊

I'm always interested in seeing your gear list. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great idea to record on Potatisbäcken!
Wow, that is a lot of gear. I use the pure clear filter bottle and the compactable one. Great intro to the hike. Atb

Actually I film most audio on my GoPro and add it on top, just seems to come out more reliably! Hope this helps!

What is the name of those pants you are always wearing?
They look like Montane Terra pants
Yup! Montane Terra Pants :)
Do you use travel insurance?
Yup! No select brand though, just whatever seems best each trip :)
Just so you know, the befree waterfilter doesnt filter any virusses. Also think this is recorded in 2023 i guess

We want to climb up that little hill just to say we've conquered the almighty Potato Hill 😂
What’s the total weight 😊
Heavy enough hahaha!
Hi Abbie! First comment! X
