    I think you should do a seasonal Costco video. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. There are different items in the store during these times of year and I am more than sure you could provide great information about saving money. I am curious about all of these money saving tips you provide. It takes time to map out and coordinate coupons, sales in different stores, drive to the location and haul all of your items home. I would be interested to find out if it's actually cheaper to have your groceries delivered to your home via a new delivery services vs. going to do traditional grocery shopping. Have you ever done a price comparison video like that?

    I used to worked for Costco and the reason their fresh meat is more is the grade of the meat Costco usually only carries CHOICE grade which is not usually an option at all regular stores most stores carry SELECT. So if better quality meat is important to you Costco is awesome.

    You didn't even mention the 5% credit on the Citibank Visa card on gas purchases at Costco gas stations (up to $7,000 per year) that now is your membership card as well. Last year I paid $130 for the top membership and got $270 back at the end of my membership year. Take that check to Costco, and they pay you off in CASH!!! On top of that, Costco consistently has the lowest gas prices anywhere around!

    I like to buy meat at Costco! NOTE: Please, please don't buy all those individual water bottles! All that plastic! Just invest in some good filter bottles instead. I understand what she is trying to go but it totally misses the boat becuase there is no mention of quality. Yes I will spend 20 cents more to buy something at Costco becuase the quality is so much better. Also, comparing organic to non organic items isn't a fair comparison for me. If your bottom line is money, you have tons of extra time to work as she does to save a few bucks, go for it. I didn't see anything here that would save more then $5 per week for me after I take out the items that don't account for quality differences.

    What do we think of the executive membership? And how do I know if membership is worth it?

    • @darkaqua88
      @darkaqua88 7 лет назад +2

      Megan Rasmussen I have executive membership. This will be my second year. After the first year we got back 55 bucks, which is half of the executive membership payment.... If you buy over a certain amount each year (I think about 3k to 4k a year, I don't recall my calculations), then you can essentially have the membership for free (I used my cash back check to pay for my membership).

    • @kimmc3055
      @kimmc3055 7 лет назад +3

      We do the same thing. With three small kids, we were spending loads of money on diapers and wipes.(plus other essentials) The executive membership paid for itself! Plus, their Pekkle brand sleepers and jammies are great value for $.

    • @smileytow1925
      @smileytow1925 7 лет назад

      Megan Rasmussen it really depends on how much you spend there. We have had the executive membership since they've been offering it. And we have always gotten more then the membership costs us.

    • @untoldhistory89
      @untoldhistory89 7 лет назад +5

      Essentially you pay an extra 60 bucks to be an executive member. If your rebate cheque you get back is over 60 bucks then it's worth it cause you made your money back and more. You need to spend 3000 a year to get 60 even.
      It also comes with a ton of other services like better rates on travel, vehicle rentals, discounts in mailer coupons, travel insurance, life and health insurance, express shipping from their online warehouse, and a bunch of other services. While Goldstar members also can use these extra services, executives will have a higher rate of savings, typically 5% or more depending on the services. Ultimately if you are saving more on these services then the extra 60 you are paying then again, its probably worth it. Some people may only receive a rebate of 45 dollars but saved 25 dollars or more through executive member exclusive coupons, and discounts on other services.
      Just ask your local warehouses membership desk about the full range of services as I imagine it varies from country to country and even place to place.
      At the end of the day Costco employees don't actually make commission off anything so they wont try to mislead you in any way, there wouldn't really be a point.
      Another great thing is that if you ever are executive and your rebate cheque is less than 60 dollars, they will refund the difference between whatever you got on your rebate and the 60 they guarantee...i.e. you get a cheque for 32.40 they will cash that cheque out for you (if you haven't used it) and give you 27.60. Meaning you get your full 60 dollars back (a portion from your rebate, and a portion returned at the time of downgrading). The only thing you need to watch out for, is they will only refund the difference IF the card has not expired or run out. So the easiest way to get the refund is to go in as soon as you receive your cheque.
      Keep in mind if you do ask for the refund, the account will be downgraded from an executive to the gold star so you will no longer receive any cashback, coupons, discounts on travel, or any of the perks with their additional services.
      And if you've read this far and haven't guessed, yes I'm a Costco employee haha I've worked in their membership department for three years at my local warehouse. Hope this answers your question!

    • @jasonhannsz
      @jasonhannsz 6 лет назад +2

      You only buy the executive membership once. If you only get $7 back you can take it in and they’ll make it half of the executive membership automatically. But once you get in the groove of stocking up and buying tires etc me and my wife in a small apartment (so we don’t have a lot of place for bulk) manage to almost pay our membership year after year.

    Costco price for brown sugar and soups and regular sugars are always the same and for most of the grocery prices are same I don't know about other people's but I really don't have that much time to do research that which grocery store is gonna have twice a year sale on sugar. So I find it very convenient to buy my stuff at Costco

    My three favorite things to buy at Costco is cheese (especially cheddar and mozzarella), milk and rotisserie chicken. Rotisserie chicken is the base to many of my easy q weeknight meals.

    This is great!! I finally live in a city with a costco and we have been trying to figure out if the membership fee is worth what we might save. I really think after watching your videos that it might actually be worth getting a membership. I love the idea about bringing an ad. I hate shopping somewhere, thinking I'm getting a deal and go to another store a couple days later and realize I could have saved money ( the other day there was a $5 dollar difference!!).

    I ALWAYS buy my meat from Costco. I think their chicken breasts are a great deal and I love the quality and convenience. I go at the beginning of the month and buy enough to cook throughout. Awesome video btw. I'm a Costco-aholic lol

      Casey Thompson yes! I love how the chicken breasts are individually wrapped and if I want to defrost just one or two I don't have to worry about having to separate them from other chicken breasts. I love Costco so much!

    how much do you spend on petrol driving to all the different places?! Or value your time looking on websites for different prices? I personally just choose somewhere and take the highs with the lows... quicker, easier and probably doesn't work out that much more..

    I love your Costco video's, I love learning what to buy and what not to buy or "beware" items that can be purchased at regular grocery store. For instance, the Brown Sugar / Powdered Sugar. The lowest in our area I've seen around Holidays is .99 cents for a 2lb bag for each, which is still pretty darn good and I stock up $

      I use very little paper towel. I use face clothes on our table for napkins. It's only myself and hubby. We each has a color to use. I also have a hand towel which I put a loop on to hang by the sink. Dish cloth to wipe up spills, changed daily. You have to do a wash so throw them in with your towels.
      I find paper towels and bottle water a waste of money.
