I thought Common started driving trucks! 🤣🤣🤣 Good content though, bro! Stay safe out there man!
Lmao that’s funny I’ll take common though over the Lavar Ball someone told me on the court one day
@@Smooth_Operator_83 Nah you should have squared up with them! LOL those are fighting words! They tried to age you disrespectfully! 🤣🤣🤣
@@Alfonzo0887 I know right then asked me if I can do a hook shot lmao
@@Smooth_Operator_83What’s up bro, I’ve recently been approved to get a 2025 truck through SFI and am approved to run for Mercer. My question is, how is the freight in the south central region, I’m from New Orleans. How’s the freight in Houston and Atlanta mostly?
@@MekoGreen-j2v all trash areas lol. Good luck in not a big fan of the sfi or any leasing programs, but stay on the road, know your numbers and you can be profitable. There is some contract freight in haleyville Alabama that’s decent. Tyler Texas has air conditioners. Springdale Arkansas.
Great video
@@Vic-v3o thank you very much
Keep up the good work!! What’s the average rate per mile for flat bed as of rn? I’m located in Jersey and was thinking about joining Mercer. Thanks
Thank you that means a lot to me
For flat bed it’s about $2.40-$2.50 a mile nationwide. I pull dryvan through so not sure what it is on the Mercer boards.
Do I need my own truck before coming or they have a leasing program?
Yes you do need your own truck before coming. They do not have a leasing program. If you wanted to try the system out first you could drive for a fleet owner within Mercer to learn first. I would suggest that first especially if you’ve never been an owner operator before.
Is the load board on an app or do i have to get on a computer? Is it easy to use?
Im at landstar but I think their gonna cancel 😂 my contract for going over my drive time 17 minutes.
@@jessiejoestar626 not an app but easy to use from any device
Thanks bro good information when I used to run under Landstar I ran myself the same way..
Awesome where are you now?
Why aren’t you doing some of their Dedicated Customer loads? like TRANE is it hard to get on a dedicated? 🤔🤔
They have contracted freight but it’s not enough to keep you busy all the time. I’ve been working on creating my own dedicated lane, but it’s hard for me to connect the dots.
O ok .. I was considering signing on with them I spoke with a recruiter regarding dedicated customer freight and she said they have it but it might be a waiting list..
Im currently in the process of signing on with them. Bringing my own flatbed trailer. Hows the orientation? What do i actually need to drive my truck from texas to ky? Just plates and insurance right
They should email you with your insurance options for getting to orientation. Orientation is simple. After the first day you’ll pretty much be on your own to complete the process.
Ok here's a question what is your cost of operation per mile
Last year my CPM was $1.44. Currently it’s $1.88
Due to $8,300 in repairs and parts last month. I try to stay Under $1.50 a mile and that’s including paying myself a driver salary.
Hey this is Reese coming to Mercer, great info would like more info
Absolutely anything you would like to know in particular?
Well I'm coming on board next week after MATS. Is it good at this time with a SFI truck bout 1239 week payment
@@tazzeman211 is that including maintenance fund, home time fund etc? There are guys here I know of with SFI trucks. They seem to be doing fine. Dry van?
Try to gross $5,000-$6,000 a week you’ll be fine. Fork lift loads Indiana, ky, sc. Cabinets doors out of tn, pa, Alabama, ac units out of tx.
Max deadhead radius to 999. Don’t be afraid to dh if the load is paying good per mile and per day rate.
Is what you see on the load board what you get before or after Mercer gets their cut?
@@noso4609 what you see on the load board is what you get after Mercer has already taken their cut.
5k a week lol man I just left them cause I was lucky to get half that doing dry van
So mercer is pretty slow right now?, did you make 2500 before the mercer 75% cut or after the cut. I hate how alot of youtubers use the before the cut number, that number is worthless. Would like to know net after fuel. Im starting to think California banning lease operators to be a good thing because alot of companies just scam these drivers. Going a week making less than minimum wage is not ok.
@user-bo1kt4ut8s yeah my best week I made 3 grand at mercer and that's net but most weeks it was like 1500 net, so yeah if you leasing on to a company I'd go to landstar, they got freight versatility and their own in house brokers, times hard now at landstar you can go flat bed or step deck or haul hazmat or whatever and the pays way better just don't break the sitting duck rule that's why my ass was a mercer
Great job🎉
@@truckchefro4534 thanks
Guy said make 4500 a week staying out 4 weeks at a time lol hey to each their own
How much does it cost to run your truck per day?
@@calvinspiff4348 my cost per mile break even ( including paying myself) hovers right around $1.50 a mile. So 600 miles x 1.50 $900.

75% of 98%? Where did the other 2% go?
From my understanding it’s a part of the insurance coverage. Also Mercer pays your IFTA.
Why did you stop with FedEx?
I became an owner operator.
Advice want start b owner operator
What would you like to know?
Is it a good owner operator company to go to with a SFI truck weekly payment?
If you know how to operate your business absolutely. You can book your own loads here or have a coordinator at Mercer do it for you. I can tell you I know 3 guys that are in the top 10 earners at Mercer and 2 of them have SFI leases.
@@Smooth_Operator_83 ok ima go with them then preciate
Also they drug test is hair test or urine test?
@@tiffanyligon8152 urine. Use me as a referral truck 22774
@@Smooth_Operator_83 ok I got you
What's the hiring proccess at Mercer bro?
@@victormontoya422 very simple. Give them a call or online. They will have you in orientation the following week after background and work history checks of course. Orientation is in Louisville Ky. Once you pass your inspection there and have all your permits you should be on the road by Thursday or Friday. ( orientation starts on Mondays)
No company trucks there?
No company trucks 100% Owner Operator you have some small fleet owners that will put drivers in their trucks but no trucks are owned by Mercer if you were interested in coming to Mercer that wanted to come and drive someone else’s truck first until you learn the system you could call Mercerapply and let them know that you’re trying to go for a fleet owner

Do you have to get your truck through a bank load to work there? There is no lease programs there correct ?
No lease programs here. A bank loan or pay cash for a truck. I know some guys here with sfi leases.
