COLOMBO is actually pretty much like BANDUNG but with less traffic and the old buildings there came from older era than what we see in Bandung. Just like Bandung Colombo is a nice place for walking. Many british style tea houses are ready to serve you with the best tea and delicious cakes. I dropped by at Dilmah Tea House and bought tea and chinaware for my dad. And got myself Mabroc tea for my colleagues. We also visited City Plaza... I forgot the park's name but it was beautiful.... Colombo has strong wind so make sure that you wear something comfortable yet can protect you from the wind. The city buses are old and classic at the same time. I stayed in Cinnamon Grand in Galle Road and had my shopping in The Crescat Boulevard. My friends bought jewels and gemstones as gift. Colombo is known for many classic retro hotels, such as Mount Lavinia and The Taprobane.

Unser hotel in galle hat allerdings keinen generator und seit vorgestern haben wir 12h am tag keinen strom & das handynetz war ebenfalls für ca 3h aus. Zu dem gas können wir nichts sagen da wir mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln unterwegs sind. :) aber alles halb so wild! Es ist trotzdem echt schön. Bringt einfach eine Powerbank und Stirnlampen mit für den fall dass euer hotel mal keinen generator hat, dann passt das alles :)
As a Sri Lankan. Yes there is a problem, it has not resolved yet. Due to currupted politicians and unplanned government officers. Some years march and April , there is a challenge for electricity in Sri Lanka but this time it got worst. 35% electricity supply from hydro. This is dry season . Because el.With the next month rain session is starting and all hydro plants groing to work as usual. In may this problem will be resolved. Unfortunately we have to face this in every year. Food prices hiked in very fastly.(due to insufficient dollars. Main dollar income is tourism. With covid it got down) But compared to Europe food prices in Sri Lanka food prices are still very very cheap. Welcome to the Sri Lanka.
And there's a super mall in Kandy called KCC which is near the lake and its the only shopping mall which can drive vehicles in to 5levels You should visit

I am impressed by the modernity of the place...looks gerat ! I beleive the name of the town / mall ...is 'gall-ay'....but we understood what place !! ;-)) I think the flower design is better for Lara !
I have travelled in small times to bigger times to colombo by the train or our own vehicle I have seen the colombo city centre but never haven't visit the malls In the city centre but I really appreciate to you guys to show the beauty of this mall
Streetfood in Colombo is always more tastier than food from these mega/ hyper malls, and definitely loads cheaper. The only aspect you need to tolerate is the environment you need to consume the food in. If you are keen on tasting authentic Sri Lankan food, please try out one of so many places that offer home cooked meals to tourists like you. Do bear in mind that authentic food differ by geography., thus what food in the south will be totally different ( both in presentation and taste) to what you will experience in the north.
I am curious, i am travelling to Sri Lanka in 3 weeks. How is the situation there in terms of electricity, power and fuel. The news have been really reporting a dire picture in Sri Lanka. I would like to know if the reporting is accurate and what the situation on the ground is.
Hey :) I would say don‘t worry too much. It is true that there are powercuts and there is a gas shortage. For us it works to use a powerbank and headlamps in the evening and honestly if it is hot just dip in the ocean. Life is good. but yes people are struggling here. However as a Traveller you really aren‘t affected that much. Some hotels even have generators which means you nearly don‘t notice anything. There are many visitors here right now :)

Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, the capital of Sri Lanka is a natural capital city with beautiful water parks to visit ... not many tourists go there

There are power cuts. Today it‘s 14h but you only experience if your hotel has no generator, which is the case for us :)
