Steam Deck's an absolute monster and another testament on how much better games should run on PC hardware. Also I do agree that UW should be a given now days specially now that these monitors are becoming a lot more popular and since modders can do it in a few days I don't see how it's an issue for a full dev team. Game looks amazing too and the first 3 minutes of the intro already started grabbing my full attention in terms of plot and gameplay (I like turn based), really happy this style of cartoon animation not only isn't dying out but it's becoming more popular, love it.

It's a pretty good game. More challenging than your average turn based JRPG so you'd probably like it. Now I gotta finish Persona 3 Reload before committing to this lol. I'm 75 hours in and towards the last 3rd of the game.
Persona was a spinoff the Shine Megami games.

BTW did you see that Expedition 33 trailer reveal at the Xbox showcase? AAA level trun based reactive JRPG? I'm hyped for that one. I very recently just played through the remake of Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. I love reactive turn based combat. Not many games that offer that these days and to get a game that looks like Expedition 33 is quite exciting.

@@TerraWare Dude not only did I see it but I'm unbelievably f*cking hyped for it!!!
It's by far the most interesting/unique game I've seen in years, everything about it intrigues me and it can't come soon enough

I'm playing on my RTX 3080 laptop and no stutter at all so far. Playing at 2560x1600 165 fps.

The longer you play the less you encounter it and some people are more sensitive to it than others. You could have the best PC hardware you can't escape it.
I just put together this clip playing the game for first time on my other PC. RTX 4090 with Ryzen 7800X 3D. Check first load in to the world and first time I enter fight.

Interesting how the steam deck doesn't suffer as a PC does considering it is a mini pc after all. Stutters are the one thing in gaming I can not stand and the PC community as a whole is partly responsible for accepting it, even now. All through the 90's and 2000's I played games on console and PC, without ever experiencing such a thing. If a developers number one priority is not to make the game smooth, then you are essentially buying a scratched disc. I refuse to buy any game which exhibits any form of stutter and quickly refund if I could not find out if it did or not before buying and it does. Money talks. It is broken and not worth a penny. How can you play something which breaks any sense of immersion every time you take a few steps...

Well said. I have bought games that had stuttering issues. Made video pointing it out and refunded it. Quite a few actually.
Valve's solution to this in regards to Steam deck, at least how I understand it is that Valve uploads pre-cached shaders since all Steam Decks use the same hardware essentially. This happens even when you update games. Which is pretty cool.
With PC's is more complicated than that but there are solutions out there and its not fair to charge full price for a game that has performance issues.

@TerraWare Yes and I think it comes down to game engines. id tech and codemasters engines are 2 off my head that I know guarantee a smooth experience. But they did wrc on unreal and stutters are crazy! Unreal is essentially responsible, it knows all variations of hardware and has been around for years and various iterations, yet all its games have either traversal or shader stutter. To me it points to the engine itself being flawed, developers constantly releasing games in this state says it all. For all the hype, even games like hellblade 2 suffer traversal stutter, which isn't present on console. Due to the ancient, essentially unchanged architecture, a PC doesn't cope well with moving data around quickly and the engine needs developing with this in mind. Directstorage, hardware scheduling etc will help, but can not solve the issue. Only developing around it can.
