I had a magnolia tree at my old home, gosh she is a pretty tree, Paula! It looks like spring with those beautiful colors! I can't believe you found morels!! Look at ALL of them!!! What a beautiful Magnolia tree! That old tree sure is pretty. I would not want to take it down either! I ordered a mushroom book this winter, I have to learn them! My friend is going to help me too. I have several spots on our place where different varieties pop up. I love to photograph them... you'd think I would know more than turkey tails at this point in my life. Okay well, I do know the red and white ones cannot be eaten, but they sure do make for a pretty picture! Great haul! And, great video!

Hi P&J'S Homestead Adventure, Oh my goodness I love all the tree's and I love morel's so much, they are delicious!! I had a family member who was a morel hunter back in the 70's and 80's he would get bushels for the restaurant's, I couldn't believe how they paid him, they were very expensive. Love all the pictures at the end, you have a beautiful yard, I love seeing all the wild life too 🤗🤗 I hope you have a nice weekend!

Your welcome! Another place that's great for finding morels is where the was once a wildfire and the land is starting to replenish itself, I know here in Michigan they post morels hunting maps of times and spots online, not sure if they have that there but it might be worth checking out. 😊😊

@@PandJsHomesteadAdventure in my area the ground is all rocky. You cant dig a hole without hitting a big rock you have to dig out before digging further. I dont find any morels until after the first week of May unless i drive to a different location. My theory is the rocks hold the winter cold longer before the ground gets warm enough, sounds crazy but thats what i think, lol.
That makes sense Dave. The ground needs to warm up, rain is good to! We have two patches that don't pop up till May. This patch is always first. Happy foraging May is almost here!

The ground gets bumpy from moles, etc, Jason likes to roll in the beginning of spring. Much more comfortable on the lawn mower than having bumps while mowing. Especially if we are going fast LOL

What is the purpose of "rolling" after mowing? Helps the ground? We have wild turkeys too. Love the wildlife!

Hi! TY so much! Yes we have three pairs living in the yard! Maybe more but we always see the six of them. Now with the leaves coming back on the trees it will be harder to see them. We hear them knocking! LOL

I'm not a fan of mushrooms but my boyfriend loves to go mushroom hunting! I wish he could find truffles!

How long are they available for gathering?
Hi Lisa. We find Morels usually in the spring, off and on for a month here in NY State. In the fall we find a bunch more. Morels are one of our favorites. TY for stopping by!
