I’m a Navy wife, Army daughter, Army Granddaughter (all career, all retired).
I knew full well what I signed up for and with whom.
My job was to step up for our family while he was deployed (or out in the field).
More people, especially women, need to heed the vows they took when getting married and raising a family.
I’m not a selfish quitter (coward) and neither is the good man that I married.
Since retirement, we live in a very different civilian world; one without respect, honor or trust.
There are 2 million of us, protecting and serving about 400 million citizens from enemies foreign and domestic.
In my opinion, those who serve the country in peacetime or war for 20+ years, at least deserve what Congress (the ones sending them to war) gives themselves upon retirement (300,000.00 annually plus health benefits for life).
I’m proud of our Armed Forces and will always be at their 6.
9:13 my father was in the army, and when he served in Afghanistan when he got back, his wife served him divorce papers that same day that he got back, but also during their bank account and while he was gone she racked up so much debt to the point that he had to file bankruptcy on top of them he was still recovering from the explosion that he survived
I started the nomadic lifestyle around nine months ago, and have met two homeless veterans. One has a large trailer, the other one has nothing. Well I shouldn't say nothing, they both have my respect. I got a bucket of chicken and gave it to the man with the least. He was extremely grateful. The sad truth is I never got to know the other man as well. He had to find a more secluded spot. But both have my respect and I hope to meet others.
I’m glad you had a chance to help and I hope you’re doing better yourself. Thanks for watching.
Great reaction as always, Sarge. I know you reacted to this days ago, but I know this video is so hard to watch that I can't go into it without preparing myself mentally. 😟
I appreciate you watching. It is gut wrenching in my opinion. Much love ❤️
I just found you on a Tom video. I'm glad you're doing this one. Being an old divorced fourth generation disabled vet, with TBI and PTSD ( any everything that comes with it ) existing under a VA program for homeless vets. Yeah this hits real close to home. Just saying. Salute to my brother and sister veterans!
Salute brother, stay strong! Much love ❤️
Greetings from Russia!
This is a comment in support of the channel.
Wrong Side of Heaven. This song made me cry. Everything that is shown in this clip applies to Russia too. We have many veterans and soon there will be even more, but the government and the country simply don’t care about the people who gave everything and came back. Although I am not a veteran, this topic is close to me because of my hobbies, hard past and desire to serve my country. Thank you FFDP for this wonderful song. These people are not heroes and they deserve respectful and normal treatment and, first of all, help. I hope that someday society will reach the idea that is contained in this song.
Peaceful skies above everyone!
Much love and Greetings to you and all in Russia.
@@SargeStreamsThanks 🙂
Late to the party, but thank you for your service, sir! Your wife, too!
Not a vet, myself, but I'm the grandson of an Army veteran and the nephew of a Marine and there are few demographics I am more grateful for than veterans.
A bit of related-unrelated music suggestion, as in different music genre entirely but the same as in support-our-troops, I recommend "NotBroken" by the Goo Goo Dolls. It's sung in the male voice, but the narrator is the military wife, actually. John Rzeznik wrote the song for a military wife whose husband got paralyzed in combat and didn't want to come home because he didn't want her to see him like that, so broken, and she was fighting to get him home because THEY were not broken, and she wanted her husband back, leg function or no. And it really inspired me that my favorite band would tell her story like that.
I don't know if it will catch your fancy, but I figured I'd recommend it just the same. May you and your wife be blessed.
I love how you brought up the mental health. Every time any of my VA people contact me, the first thing they ask me is if I have been thinking of hurting myself or somebody else. I'm like well it only crosses my mind when you keep bringing it up. Oh and I love how they want to shove meds I wouldn't give to my worst enemy. You look at the side effects and they are exactly what you're not wanting to happen. With me being under one of the VA homeless programs, I spend over 95 % of my time alone. They do a required visit once a month that lasts under an hour. I refuse to take any of their meds anymore and questioned them on how they can give meds that you can't stop, vital that you stay on schedule, when the meds side effects are, poor judgment, loss of time, depression, suicidal thoughts, emotional issues like frustration and so on, to someone who spends most of the time alone? Then aspect them not to have issues. Makes me think they are the ones with the head issues. Just saying.
Thank you for your service to our great country sir. 🇺🇸
DEnmark the same! i served 23 years!
I HIGHLY recomend you listen to the acoustic version of Asking Alexandrias song Someone Somewhere! I think itll resonate with you
2015 I am a civilian journeyman electrician I did a couple of jobs for the St Petersburg Bay Pines VA Hospital in St Petersburg Florida was there a total of 9 months in all different parts of the hospital I was extremely shocked and disappointed with how outdated and unorganized it was not to mention some of the policies and procedures on how patients were delt with and was told that that was one of the better VA hospitals without going into great detail let me put it this way just to remodel some of the patient rooms I had to go through asbestos training and certification because of the presence of asbestos in the ceiling and walls the red tape and hoops that we had to jump through just to fix problems that were already deemed PROBLEMS needing to be fixed was ridiculous the amount of signatures needed just to bring things up to code its really easy to see how a veteran that needs help now gets cast aside for bureaucratic bullshit
Hi Sarge, First.. I would like to thank you and your wife for your service. Just seen your reactions to this 5 finger death punch.. wrong side of heaven, I appreciate your attention to the veterans and I appreciate all the veterans that have served. My husband and I both served in the Army and I did my time 1990-1994 during desert storm. I was honorable discharged 1994 all messed up and only discharged at that time 30% disability. It took 26 years to fight to get the 100% disability that should have been given when discharged in 1994. Soon I will get my service dog but it took so much support from my family to help where the government did not at the time. My family would help me get through to the next day by choosing life. PTSD never goes away. It is like a movie.. seeing the trauma in replay all the time due to a gesture, a tone in voice, a movement, and other triggers. PLUS all the injuries that occurred during our time of service in the military. They can not replace my spine/back, they can not erase the ptsd/depression/anxiety from the trauma. Now as a disabled veteran that has experienced what military life has given, I would like to thank all my fellow veterans and all the active soldiers for their service as well. Veteran is a person who wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount of up to and including One's life. I will never forget the sacrifices made by all soldiers that made it home and that did not make it home. I do love Five Finger Death Punch music and couple more songs I'm not sure if you heard that also hits home is called "Remember Everything" and "Gone Away" also a song by Linkin Park called "Castle of Glass" if you get the chance to react to those 3 songs/videos would love to hear your opinions as well.
Much love to you and yours for sure and I totally understand that fight… took me 20 years as well for 100% and I started off at 10%. I’ll look into those suggestions for sure. Thank you for your service, for watching and commenting. I really do appreciate it. Again, much love ❤️
In my 20 year career I spent 2 years of it in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the biggest things that bothered me with civilians when i got home was the small things that made them lose their minds. My thoughts were on the daily incoming rocket fire and the children i had to drop missiles on and they were having anxiety attacks if they didn't get enough likes on social media. Crazy world.
Been there on the streets for around a year or so, you lose track after a time. I was not a ground pounder, I was a former submariner, one of the top 1%, and after Russia broke up, I was RIFed after 13 years. It was hard and felt abandoned and all the civilian companies who worked with us also RIFed there own employees so a job was a no go there. But yeah, I was, and am retired bad.
Veterans should never have to pay taxes. They should be rewarded and given a free life all expenses paid by the people they fight for. That is the truth!
World kinda folds in and you start losing little bits....faster and faster, until you end up like that....just straight broken to the core, with no mission in life and everything is pointless. It's like being a prisoner to your own mind, while you autopilot into oblivion. And just like this video, it takes someone that gets it, to see it and help...even just a conversation can save a life. Some can go whole careers without issues...but some can barely make it a single contract without a screw getting popped lose. Everybody's situations were different.
Just never turn to drinking, drugs or self harm. In the end....you are the master of your own mind's freedom. I've lost more brothers than I can count...and some of them are even still here with us😟
I cant understand what you get through, but you hav my honor and respect for going over this hell and the sikness. I hope you the best on your live
Check out their cover of bad company's song 'bad company'
Semper Fi and Semper Gumby my brother!
Semper Fi brother!
The young and the poor are the ones sent to fight the old rich men's war. Sadly we have an unlimited defense budget but can't find enough money for the people who are currently serving or have served.
FFDP also did a song called “gone away” you should watch it
Thank you for the suggestion. Much love to you and I’m sorry about your father 😔
What are we fighting to save if we can`t love the ones who save us?
My dad was a Marine Dr or a navy coremen he did 33 years of fixing bronen marines. 😞 Anyhow than you for your service. You got a new sub
Thanks WILLIAM for the support Semper Fi
Semper Fi brother. I lost 3 brothers after we got out, 22 a day haunts me. Until we meet and drink a horn in Valhalla. NEVER FORGOTTEN USMC
Semper Fi! Much love to you and yours
US Army retired here, with 22 years in. My best friend, ETSed after 14 years, just walked off a bridge 3 months ago because his wife kicked him out of their home because his PTSD was getting too bad. This shit is not a joke. If you know a vet please do something, even minor like buy them a coffee, to show them that you respect their sacrifice. It could just save their life.
The divorce rate bothers me a lot.
I signed up with him, for better or worse and I meant it, still do.
We face obstacles and share traumatic experiences as best friends should, (forgive & heal) caring more for the other than we do for ourselves, unconditionally.
The military used to say ‘Son, if we wanted you to have a wife and children, we would have issued them to you in your sea bag’.
I didn’t care what others said, I knew that my job at home being supportive had value that others may not see or understand.
I wish more women understood that a lifetime commitment of trusted truth rewards itself with unconditional love.
VA doctors don't get paid like regular doctors, so the VA is typically staffed by doctors that are there because they couldn't get a job in a higher-paying capacity. NOT ALL, but many. What does that mean for healthcare? It means that you're usually not getting the doctor that graduated at the top of his/her class. You're getting the "C's get degrees" doctor. You're getting the doctor that's annoyed that they "have" to see patients for government money, not private money. It's good that we get free healthcare, but the fact that we get free healthcare makes me happy that I've got the option to pay for my own healthcare when I need to. I go to the VA when I have to. I go to my private practice doctor for everything else, because I trust the information and treatment he gives more than I do the VA.
My father was a Vietnam vet. He committed suicide, by hanging
Very sorry to hear that. 🙂↕️
The VA requested $324 billion for 2024. I doubt the office commies will approve that amount. As a former 19D Cav Scout, I just want a set of teeth so I can eat popcorn again. My medical insurance is almost $300/month and I have no dental coverage whatsoever.
I’m sorry. If you sign the contract they should take care of it all. Eliminate the process and red tape all veterans get 100% so things like Dental are covered etc. just my opinion. So you know I fought for 20 years to get 100%…sucks! Much love to you and yours.
Fellow armor brother! I feel you on the teeth thing...I just got mine done for about 6k. If you have a solid job, take out a personal loan and get them fixed....your health will thank you, and you will be 1000 times better in your mind afterwards. I almost waited too long and I didn't even realize it....trust me.
dont do the battle buddy foundation i fact checked them bogus
ok a lot of thesde are no longer good call va
