Orwell's Barcelona - A George Talk by Nick Lloyd, 15th January 2023

January's George Talk by Nick Lloyd comprised of a tour around the different sites In Barcelona featured in Homage to Catalonia, discussing and placing Orwell's experiences within the wider context of the war.
Nick Lloyd has been living in Spain for 30 years and has been running tours specialised in the Spanish Civil War in Barcelona and Orwell's role for 12 years. He has guided the Orwell Society in person in the city on four occasions and is a co-founder of Dia Orwell which has been held in the Catalan capital on an annual basis since 2013.
Nick's book "Forgotten Places: Barcelona and the Spanish Civil War" (400 pages) is partly a history of the war form the point of Barcelona but also functions as a guidebook and as such offers an excuse to tell stories arising from places in the city. It features a number of pages on Orwell's presence in the city.
