An early days response, I agree with you about the album as a whole, the production and the mixing are questionable in places, but it’s not bad from Travis for his first solo album production. I do however disagree, I feel this IS a masterpiece, their best record since self titled. All the songs on the album are great, even the weaker, gimmicky songs, have a spot on this album in my opinion. I didn’t like Fell in Love at first but it grew on me. I like other side but for me, the lyrics mess with my head a little bit, and I don’t know why, but they do.
But these are just nit picks. The rest of the album slays in my opinion.
My very favourites are anthem part 3, dance with me, terrified, more than you know, blink wave, bad news and turpentine.
      I’d give this album a 9/10 (possibly a 9.5 at a push)

The reason Untitled is and will always be number 1, is because it paints a picture. It creates an aesthetic. It was a special place and time when blink was using imagery and themes from their past to create one cohesive piece of art. This album is a bunch of great songs collected onto one record. That’s why Untitled is the GOAT

this album absolutely SLAPS. easily their best work since the criminally underrated Neighborhoods imo! it's sad that Mark had to battle cancer and Travis his plane trauma, but you can definitely feel those experiences reflected in the lyricism and the atmosphere, and i'm glad all members are in a much better place ❤️ probably even in the top half of Blink albums for me!

I have loved listening to this album all day on repeat. After going through a lot of their catalog yesterday, I feel like One More Time is such a love letter to the band. No matter when you started listening to them or what albums you prefer, there’s tracks one here for you. Definitely will keep this on rotation and this is definitely one of my personal favorite albums of the year just because of how happy I felt listening to the first real Blink album to release since I’ve grown up and gotten into the band! Also great review Jon, agree with some of your criticisms but the positives far far outweigh the negatives.

Enema, TOYPAJ, and Untitled are such a classic masterpiece run that no matter what they release, it’ll feel like nothing can top them. This album is easily the best and most dialed in they’ve been since that era. I enjoy Neighborhoods and especially Dogs Eating Dogs, but that first reunion felt so odd when you go back and look at it. I think One More Time is highly above those (leagues above the Skiba era stuff, even though it wasn’t terrible). They genuinely want to be here this time.
I think this is as close to a masterpiece as we’ll get from a modern blink. I LOVE the album. Tbh, the only downside to me is Edging. Front to back, it’s pretty much a perfect blink album, in my opinion. Anthem Part III, Turpentine, and Bad News are my favorites 🔥🤘🏼

I’m 34 and have been a fan since Dude Ranch and I absolutely loved this record. For someone who had to completely re-learn how to sick and play his instrument Mark did a tremendous job, Tom has found that sweet spot between “old Tom voice” and “new Tom voice” and it sounds fantastic, and of course Travis Carrie’s this record with his drums. The producing is ok at times but this is a great record and a tribute to their collective work. Blink, Angels, +44, Transplants, BOXCAR!! it’s all embedded in this record. My favorite songs are Blink Wave, Dance With Me, and Childhood (just my top 3). Childhood is an incredible ender, perhaps their best ever. So appreciative of this record

I feel like people are sleeping on "Fell in Love," just because it's not subtle & very straightforward.
But it's also very reminicent of old Blink (like Tom says - "nursey rhyme punk"), but with a different/more creative mixing. Yeah it's more on that pop side, but it's catchy af, and definitely could've been a radio single 20 years ago.

Definitely a cool album. I feel like everyone is giving it 100% here and that effort definitely shows. This is a really cool blink-182 album that kicks ass and doesn't apologize. I feel like it lacks some of the genre-bending originality that showed up on Self Titled and Neighborhoods, but it's also unapologetically blink in a way we haven't heard since before those albums. It simultaneously sounds like they're straight from 2002 and yet with all the experience of the last 20 years. The blink humor largely missing from those two albums is back too, which is great.
I actually find it interesting that this album seems to take the same philosophy as California- which also sounded more like a sequel to TOYPAJ than anything else. They're actually pretty similar albums in the way that they try to keep blink the same but different. it even has short little interlude tracks and keeps the humor around. It's a really interesting comparison.
But yeah, I dont think it's a masterpiece either. Not quite enough innovation...a lot of the songs blend together for me and a surprising amount of them end up being Mark verses with Tom chorus, which is something I picked out and now I can't un-pick it. Also the mix is...not great. I try to single out Mark's bass and it's just not there the way it has been on other albums. And I do find the vocals muddled and unclear. Still a super fun blink album though.

Which I absolutely love nine, and the songs live sound like pure blink. But I think the addition of the extra writers and bigger team making the album muddled the vision.
      That's my guess at least.
And despite all the hate California gets. (Mainly from blinks own fans btw) California is still a really good album in my opinion. Especially the deluxe. And it was a commercial success from general audiences.
Critics don't count because critics have always kinda dogged on Blink

Made it up on the last spot in my top 10 for albums of the year! But I'm upset that I had to kick out FOB and ATL's albums out of the top 10. So much awesome music came out this year! Here are the other 9 bands that are the best of the year! Depeche Mode, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Cannibal Corpse, Queens of the Stone Age, Rancid, Dying Fetus, Foo Fighters and Alice Cooper!

wow, I never expected blink (among all bands that reunites in recent years) will make such a complete record. it could have worked better without short songs, but I'm glad they made it for fans who like them, seems more authentic.
I feel Anthem part 3 is what fans needed for so long. One more time will also become one of fan-favorite songs.
this one might be my favorite album along with Untitled. my favorite is Turpentine.

You can honestly feel that connection especially with the shared songs. As much as I didn't mind the past few records, this does feel like a natural progression from Untitled.
I think we just sorely missed that bond between Tom and Mark in particular; it's not a slight on Matt though, imagine if Tom had replaced him in Alkaline Trio.

Thank you for giving us an objective review! I relate with what you said about how 'Anthem Part 2' raised some of Blink Fans who are now on their 30s... I stopped listening Blink for almost 15 years... I used to have most of their records in CD when I was like 13 yrs old and I still have that VSH "The Urethra Chronicles"... Today I listened to ANTHEM PT III and I literally was holding back tears of emotion, an absolute BANGER to start their new record!! I realized how necessary this album was now in my middle 30s as a reminder of the nice things in life. Got it for my vinyl collection and everything!!!

It's literally like buying the auto lace Nikes from Back To The Future. Everything about the album feels all new, digital and like it has to appeal to Gen Zoomers, but slip it on and it's the same old Blink we know and love, just in (and for) a different time. And it FEELS better than ever. Old, but new and fresh, too.

I have to say, on the first listen I was pretty underwhelmed. After Tom's announcement that Edging was just a foretaste and they were doing some really experimental stuff, I was honestly expecting more. Yes, there are some cool ideas and decent songs on the record and I am sure it will grow on me some more, but how so many fans can already call it their best album or even a masterpiece is baffling to me.
Some of the more poppy songs have completely overproduced vocals and really trivial lyrics. No idea why they feel like they need external songwriters if it results in the worst songs on the album (same as California, btw).
The best songs are definitely the heavier punk songs, but I am kinda missing the catchiness that makes them Blink. IMO Neighborhoods did a better job at trying new stuff while still keeping their DNA.
So far it's a 3/5 to me. Let's see if I will change my mind, and how the record will be evaluated once the hype has passed.

This is exactly where I stand with it at the moment. I'm not really understanding the overwhelming love for it, but I might just be an outlier and it's still cool to see all the hype surrounding the band's reunion. I'm sure the album will grow on me a little but I can already tell it won't be among my favorites of theirs.

I would say its a very average pop punk album elevated slightly by the incredible drum work throughout. Ultimately its just too overproduced with too much effect on the vocals for my liking and i definitely prefer the faster more Desendants style songs on the album but overall it is better than their previous few albums.

A really great album and something I honestly never thought we would be getting from Blink ever again.
But unfortunately I can’t see it as the masterpiece it had the potential to be mainly because of the production. Travis is great at many things but he is a really bad producer imo, everything sounds sterile and like a big mess. The tracks are more than there though.
So after a few listens this would be my ranking:
    1. Neighborhoods
    2. Take off your pants and jacket
    3. blink-182
    4. One more time
    5. Enema of the state
    6. Nine
    7. Dude ranch
    8. California
    9. Cheshire cat

Neighborhoods is so great. A truly underrated album for the band. It’s too soon to say for sure but highly likely I prefer it to this new one if there was a competition, but I think the new one is solid. Fave cuts as of rn are Terrified, More Than You Know and Bad News. Terrified especially is such a fucking good song.

This album is awesome, but cannot top the untitled! It just can't! But does it mean this album is bad? Hell no! It's an awesome 😎 album! I'm still putting Nine on top of One More Time. I thought that Matt Skiba did an exceptional job taking Tom DeLonge's place. But now he's back with Alkaline Trio with a new album in January! Can't wait to hear what that's about! In addition, there were a lot of great songs off of Nine.

It doesn’t feel like a long album and I mean that in a good way, it moves at such a pace that it does work with having 17 songs. California and Nine didn’t work the same way with been longer albums
