Jann is very talented young man. He's 24 and he comes from a small town in Poland. He was born in a poor family with lots of children. He didn't have any connections to show business before. He lived in UK for few years with his family and went there to music school. He performed in National Opera in Poland. He wrote the words to Gladiator and he directed the video clip. It was his idea. This song wasn't written for Eurovision. His fans asked him to try participate in Polish preselections. Gladiator is a song about corruption, deception and manipulation in show business. What a coincidence...
I did not fully understand the lyrics at first and when I saw the videoclip, I thought; 'I think this is about people in mud that get óne chance to perform (on a table) and if they don't do well, they get thrown back in mud, hoping for a chance to crawl out again.' Like...in the mud with paparazzi looking for dirt on them, having to work in nasty tv-programs with stupid or mean shows and having to degrade themselves, all while hoping that they get to be 'on the table' soon, because it's less degrading than rolling in the dirt.' So, I think I was kindof right, based on the video and your description. That means it's a very good videoclip.
And on the top of that he wrote the music, the lyrics and he done the video concept too.. He is really talented. Sad he doesn't get a chance to show that on the Eurovision stage.

I am from Brazil. A friend of mine, also Brazilian and I are crazy about Eurovision. This year we followed the national selections as well. We are heartbroken by what happened in Poland. It is absurd and unacceptable.
Greetings from the United States. Every year, there are two or three songs that really jump out at me and clutch my soul. So far this year, I've heard some nice songs--but nothing that has clutched my soul and moved me. Until Gladiator. I had seen on RUclips that some reactors had updated their tops from 20 to 21. It didn't take long to figure out the new release was from Poland. I went to Wikipedia and saw that Gladiator had won. I found the official music video. I watched it. I fell in love with it immediately. And then I started watching tops and kept seeing this woman named Blanka for Poland. "That's wrong," I thought. I didn't understand what was going on. So I went back to wiki and saw the winning song had been changed. I was gutted. So that was my experience. And I cannot even begin to imagine the feelings of those who were far more invested in the outcome much earlier than I was. Gladiator is now on my playlist. The garbage that is Solo can fall into a black hole--and would be missed by few.

In RUclips you can find another songs which were fully created by Jann. Some of them are for somebody better than Gladiator ... I met the Good, Promise, Look at me, Power, Imperor's clothes etc. Amazing.
Im glad that you day Gladiator cought your attention, despite that in US youve got the real music of real quality. I guess that Jann put an effort into his work and did some good music. He was inspired lately by LGaga or KWest. Please listen to his Emperors new clothes and Met the God.
I have to admit, it's so hard to accept that we don't get this masterpiece on stage in Liverpool. I hope Jann qualificates for another pre selection (Maybe here in Germany)

In the actual selection, his vocals maybe weren’t perfect, but for me his performance elevated the song even more. Jann is SUCH a captivating performer and he gave it absolutely everything, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. More complex staging would have been nice, but I don’t think it was absolutely necessary as Jann IS the show.
Polish tv and cinema sound making actually sucked like always. So I'm not surprised this sounds like his voice is shakey. But also hes interpreting part of the song while giggling, and he gasps also intentionally. Like i think Limp Bizkit or Korn used to perform.
Maybe his vocals weren't perfect but he gained a lot of personality in the live performance. And he still did much better than Blanka in my opinion.. she doesn't even sound like she can sing at all and Jann has so many different nuances in his voice, it's incredible. This would've been my favorite.. and I'm sure if he was sent to Liverpool he would have atleast finished 7th, if not higher. Now Blanka will be boo'ed at and some ppl at home will vote her out of sympathy because of it but overall she will probably do bad if she sings like that again.
It wasn't bad live, the broadcaster sabotaged his performance so that Blanka won. There are recordings from the audience where it sounds better than on TV. But please make a reaction live performance. :)

Jann said in an interview that it was his first ever performance on live TV His vocal was iffy during the rap part around half way through but it was just him being passionate about the song and then he finished the song off doing the operatic notes and he did it with a smile on his face like it was nothing. It was great 🔥
It's not true that his live performance was bad, he was alone but he was owning the stage, there was kind of a chereography. Also his live vocals in arena were amazing, but in the tv it sounded not that good which is very weird. He was just amazing live! 😭

However, his stage presence is great. You should see his live performance too. The ending killed me. If he won, he'd still have time to May to master his final performance. What matters is that his song is captivating and interesting right from the beginning. And you do not want to hear Blanka after the first note she hits
Well... I'm still having a hard time accepting that Jann won't go. Gladiator at Eurovision, that would be a dream. He got 18,000 votes from viewers. His live performance wasn't perfect BUT he only had 10 days to prepare it and it was his first (!) appearance on TV. He gave 100% and promised that if he went in May he would refine everything and give 300%. I still can't stop being angry.
The live performance was good. I think people are just seeking for mistakes to explain the sh** TVP did. He was singing fine for the amount of movement he did on stage, and he didn’t hide his emotions. It was different to the studio version, but far from being bad in any way. Also the choirs in the second chorus were missing, and I think generally in the whole performance except the last notes. Also some technical issues, the microphone was too loud compared to the soundtrack. But it was like that for almost every performance except Alicja’s. Poland was robbed by their own broadcaster 😖

For whatever it's worth, MOST of the vocals at the national final were iffy at best. As for Jann's stage performance, he comes from what I think is an indie label so I'm not sure the had the funds to go all out like Blanka's label did, but iffy vocals or no, Jann had an incredible amount of energy and charisma on stage. And his vocals only suffered because of breathe control, otherwise, the dude can sing! I do suggest watching his live performance if you're curious. Jann is in fact a classically trained counter-tenor, with a ton of training and schooling. The choral vocals in the chorus is actually him layering his own voice I'm pretty sure.

In his live performance, his microphone was louder than the music so it sounded cringey, it wasn’t his fault, it was the production’s fault in my opinion. And I think they had this problem with all the songs in the contest, there was a sound issue, and Jann actually sounded the best out of all of them in my opinion. In the live version the sound was not perfect but he can sing, he is a great performer, he was alone on the stage and he did difficult movements while he was singing. I,m not from Poland and I,m sad.
It's shocking guys. Jann's on a bad night of performance was still better than Blanka's... I am so sorry for Poland, this would be outstanding in Eurovision and could even win the whole thing. I wish they could revoke the decision because of the conflict of interests. I have the song on my Spotify already!
I heard from other reviewer on Jann's final performance on TV, that bad vocal performance moments were broadcasted that way and there was a smartphone record from someone in the finals studio and it was really better, so what happened with broadcasting. Well, his vocals at some part were some lost, but it can be corrected with practice.
We love Jann and he gained lots of followers in the last few days 🖤 we are not giving up in our pursuit of justice even if it means Poland will be disqualified, we don't want to take part in it if we can't even choose our own representative

Hi guys! You should watch also the live performance of Gladiator . Jann is phenomenal . Maybe it's not perfect vocally but it's rather due to some sound problems in tv transmission.
I watched interviews, he was planning to do more on stage if he won. Also wasn't there controversy around live performance. I saw comments saying that tvp messed with the sound during his performance to make it soud worse. I saw sone shorts recorded by people who were there and it did seem to sound better

This was my favourite song in any preselection (with Bed wetters from Estonia a close second - though I was happy to see bridges get through there) but this broke my heart. I'm still listening to it now.
The biggest letdown along with Patty Gurdy. Next time a participant of a national final is propped up in every RUclips comment section to videos on their selection (unless they're a well known performer, where we know that they can sing live or it's a recap of semi final performances), then I'm immediately gonna ask myself, what about the live vocals. Maybe I might even suspect such acts of not being able to sing, but then I'm delighted, when my concerns turned out to be wrong, which is so much better than the other way round.

The song was sung very cleanly, some people just don't understand that, for example, loud breathing during certain moments was an artistic expression. The entire live performance was great, I recommend watching it.
hi guys. I'm from Poland and I was waiting for your reaction to both songs because I know you guys are really honest and I love that. I was waiting for your Blanka reaction because I knew you guys would roast the hell out of this stupid song and I had a feeling you guys will like Jann instead. So here's the deal basically: The live stage of gladiator was incredible because Jann is really expressive and likes to interpretate the lyrics of the song. So basically when the line "I know it's kinda funny" came out he was laughing and some of people didn't like it but that's because they can't really understand that artists can have an actual stage presence and not on the nonexistent level Blanka had. Charisma is the word that describes Jann a lot, he was smashing his competition as he sang in his song. His vocals were a bit shaky at times because of his moves (the one you can see in a video, he does that on stage too) but TVP had a general problems with sound transmission because the live audiences recordings of Jann's performance were really good. So to sum up everything, it was rigged from the very beginning. From the sound transmission, jury has given Jann only 4th place because they knew he was about to win the televoting and if they gave him 3rd place he would end up winning this whole thing. As he should btw.

This is AMAZING. That production is BRILLIANT. He is so interesting and different. A true Artist. The music video is SUBLIME. One of the best songs in the pre-selections this year. Poland could be a Top5 contender with Jann, but they prefer to NQ with that bland generic thing.

A lot of fake accounts were created to promote Blanka - give her views and likes. Blanka was chosen by Edyta Górniak (the head of the jury) because she's her son's good friend. Also her choreographer was in the jury. She was definatelly TVP (Polish Public Television) choice. Jann got 18k votes from Polish people voting and Blanka only 6k. Somehow they make it so public votes did not matter anyway. Polish people are furious about this result. If she really gets to Eurovision we cross our fingers for her to get the last place. It's humiliating to send such contestant

I will tell everything honestly, as always. And thank you for trying to comfort me with the message when I was devastated on Sunday night ❤ 1. It was the boy's first TV appearance. And honestly? HE DESTROYED THE SCENE. He's not even human anymore, he's a wild stage animal. At times he laughed (which is even in the original) probably from happiness because the audience went crazy when he started singing. And he did much better than Blaka, who has already appeared on TV many times (surprise, surprise on the same TV station). 2. I'd have to write an essay to explain all the clues that it was a set-up. I will only list: Article, promoting Blanka by TVP, unclear voting results, jurors' fear, pre-selection time (Yes, Toy, you were one of the first to spot it), choreography arranged by one of the jurors, the son of the president of the jury with connections to Blanka, the reaction of viewers, journalists and everyone in the studio (including Ochman, our prince charming was shocked and uncomfortable), private views of Edyta Górniak (yes, she took 2nd place in 1994, but mentally she went back even further in time and now even 5G scares her), poor acting by Blanka, who pretended to be surprised... There is really a lot of this. 3. It means WAR. We will definitely not give up and we will fight to prevent this cheater from going to Liverpool. It wasn't just Jann who was hurt. All the other 8 artists too. Great Dominik Dudek, Alicja Szemplińska (whom you know and who they were terribly afraid of), the band Felivers, which put on a great show. They were all deceived just like us, the viewers. 4. I don't know how much Jann's image (I don't know where the idea about his orientation came from, he never said anything about it. I don't know how his appearance would prove it, but you know putting people in a box is so cool) and the views of the jury mattered and how much money and connections of Blanka and Warner Music Poland studios mattered. Either way, it was FRAUD. The petition already has over 37,000 signatures. Besides, I forgot to mention that "Solo" is a perfidious plagiarism of Romanian singer Inna and her song "Up". So we will fight as much as we can. If it doesn't work out and this cheater goes after all - all Eurovision fans have a pee break from us this year. It took longer than I expected, but that's about it. Gladiators fight to the end ✊

The live performance was good. I think people are just seeking for mistakes to explain the sh** TVP did. He was singing fine for the amount of movement he did on stage, and he didn’t hide his emotions. It was different to the studio version, but far from being bad in any way. Also the choirs in the second chorus were missing, and I think generally in the whole performance except the last notes. Also some technical issues, the microphone was too loud compared to the soundtrack. But it was like that for almost every performance except Alicja’s.

For whatever it's worth, MOST of the vocals at the national final were iffy at best. As for Jann's stage performance, he comes from what I think is an indie label so I'm not sure the had the funds to go all out like Blanka's label did, but iffy vocals or no, Jann had an incredible amount of energy and charisma on stage. And his vocals only suffered because of breathe control, otherwise, the dude can sing! I do suggest watching his live performance if you're curious.
Jann is in fact a classically trained counter-tenor, with a ton of training and schooling. The choral vocals in the chorus is actually him layering his own voice I'm pretty sure.

In his live performance, his microphone was louder than the music so it sounded cringey, it wasn’t his fault, it was the production’s fault in my opinion. And I think they had this problem with all the songs in the contest, there was a sound issue, and Jann actually sounded the best out of all of them in my opinion. Maybe he’s not the best vocalist of all times but he’s a pretty decent vocalist and an amazing performer. Please react to his live performance? I’m not even Polish, it was just my favourite song

In the live version the sound was not perfect but he can sing, he is a great performer, he was alone on the stage and he did difficult movements while he was singing. I,m not from Poland and I,m sad.
It's shocking guys. Jann's on a bad night of performance was still better than Blanka's... I am so sorry for Poland, this would be outstanding in Eurovision and could even win the whole thing. I heard from other reviewer on Jann's final performance on TV, that bad vocal performance moments were broadcasted that way and there was a smartphone record from someone in the finals studio and it was really better, so what happened with broadcasting. Well, his vocals at some part were some lost, but it can be corrected with practice.

Hi guys! You should watch also the live performance of Gladiator . Jann is phenomenal . Maybe it's not perfect vocally but it's rather due to some sound problems in tv transmission.
I watched interviews, he was planning to do more on stage if he won. Also wasn't there controversy around live performance. I saw comments saying that tvp messed with the sound during his performance to make it soud worse. I saw sone shorts recorded by people who were there and it did seem to sound better
I don't think they messed Jann up on purpose. Most of the contestants sounded bad, even Blanka. Out of 10 contestants only like 3 or 4 sounded decent.

This was my favourite song in any preselection (with Bed wetters from Estonia a close second - though I was happy to see bridges get through there) but this broke my heart. I'm still listening to it now.
The biggest letdown along with Patty Gurdy. Next time a participant of a national final is propped up in every RUclips comment section to videos on their selection (unless they're a well known performer, where we know that they can sing live or it's a recap of semi final performances), then I'm immediately gonna ask myself, what about the live vocals. Maybe I might even suspect such acts of not being able to sing, but then I'm delighted, when my concerns turned out to be wrong, which is so much better than the other way round.

hi guys. I'm from Poland and I was waiting for your reaction to both songs because I know you guys are really honest and I love that. I was waiting for your Blanka reaction because I knew you guys would roast the hell out of this stupid song and I had a feeling you guys will like Jann instead.
So here's the deal basically: The live stage of gladiator was incredible because Jann is really expressive and likes to interpretate the lyrics of the song. So basically when the line "I know it's kinda funny" came out he was laughing and some of people didn't like it but that's because they can't really understand that artists can have an actual stage presence and not on the nonexistent level Blanka had. Charisma is the word that describes Jann a lot, he was smashing his competition as he sang in his song. His vocals were a bit shaky at times because of his moves (the one you can see in a video, he does that on stage too) but TVP had a general problems with sound transmission because the live audiences recordings of Jann's performance were really good.
So to sum up everything, it was rigged from the very beginning. From the sound transmission, jury has given Jann only 4th place because they knew he was about to win the televoting and if they gave him 3rd place he would end up winning this whole thing. As he should btw.

This is AMAZING. That production is BRILLIANT. He is so interesting and different. A true Artist. The music video is SUBLIME. One of the best songs in the pre-selections this year. Poland could be a Top5 contender with Jann, but they prefer to NQ with that bland generic thing.

A lot of fake accounts were created to promote Blanka - give her views and likes. Blanka was chosen by Edyta Górniak (the head of the jury) because she's her son's good friend. Also her choreographer was in the jury. She was definatelly TVP (Polish Public Television) choice. Jann got 18k votes from Polish people voting and Blanka only 6k. Somehow they make it so public votes did not matter anyway. Polish people are furious about this result. If she really gets to Eurovision we cross our fingers for her to get the last place. It's humiliating to send such contestant

I'm happy to see you checked it. Vocal on live is good as well - if you watch performance recorded by people in the audience, not on tv. They ruined that too.

1. It was the boy's first TV appearance. And honestly? HE DESTROYED THE SCENE. He's not even human anymore, he's a wild stage animal. At times he laughed (which is even in the original) probably from happiness because the audience went crazy when he started singing. And he did much better than Blaka, who has already appeared on TV many times (surprise, surprise on the same TV station).
2. I'd have to write an essay to explain all the clues that it was a set-up. I will only list: Article, promoting Blanka by TVP, unclear voting results, jurors' fear, pre-selection time (Yes, Toy, you were one of the first to spot it), choreography arranged by one of the jurors, the son of the president of the jury with connections to Blanka, the reaction of viewers, journalists and everyone in the studio (including Ochman, our prince charming was shocked and uncomfortable), private views of Edyta Górniak (yes, she took 2nd place in 1994, but mentally she went back even further in time and now even 5G scares her), poor acting by Blanka, who pretended to be surprised... There is really a lot of this.
3. It means WAR. We will definitely not give up and we will fight to prevent this cheater from going to Liverpool. It wasn't just Jann who was hurt. All the other 8 artists too. Great Dominik Dudek, Alicja Szemplińska (whom you know and who they were terribly afraid of), the band Felivers, which put on a great show. They were all deceived just like us, the viewers.
4. I don't know how much Jann's image (I don't know where the idea about his orientation came from, he never said anything about it. I don't know how his appearance would prove it, but you know putting people in a box is so cool) and the views of the jury mattered and how much money and connections of Blanka and Warner Music Poland studios mattered. Either way, it was FRAUD.
The petition already has over 37,000 signatures. Besides, I forgot to mention that "Solo" is a perfidious plagiarism of Romanian singer Inna and her song "Up".
So we will fight as much as we can. If it doesn't work out and this cheater goes after all - all Eurovision fans have a pee break from us this year. It took longer than I expected, but that's about it.
