- SO! Blanka with the song "Solo" was chosen by a mixed jury-televote system to represent Poland in Liverpool... HOWEVER, the Polish are not very happy about this and there's been huge controversy over this result.
We are here to give you all our HONEST opinion, NO FILTER, about the absolute favourite of the Polish audience.
Liverpool will host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine.
The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will take place in Liverpool on Saturday 13 May at 8pm GMT. Semi-Finals on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 May 8pm GMT

I am a straight woman, the same age with Jann and I find him very attractive to the female gaze, even if he's gay or not. I don't know why it's hard for people to just accept a different style, even if he's not gay, he's extremely cool and angelic at the same time, you should not feel threatened by that.

I think that's a huge part of the problem for men under the boot heel of toxic masculinity. It scares the sh*t out of them when men break the rules of gender comformity and are attractive to women at the same time. It completely undermines their power and the power of the system they have devoted themselves to.

Gladiator was his FIRST LIVE performance in TV in his life.
This was Jann's first television performance. He wrote and composed the song himself. The song "Gladiator" talks about the toxicity of showbussines and condemns corruption. The irony is that something like this happened during the selection of the Polish representative for Eurovision.
People in Poland think that the sound of the TV performance is worse than recordings from the phone in the studio. This is reason to think that TVP manipulated the sound to make the performances worse or the sound man accidentally broke it. Jann sings really great when you can hear him in the concert hall. And Yes, you are right, our public television is associated with homophobic and conservative politics in Poland. The president of the jury, Edyta Górniak, said that Jann and his song are too dark. That's why they chose the happy and sunny song "Solo". Agustin Egurrola, who is a dancer, was also a member of the jury. The problem is that his dancers performed together with Blanka and Egurrola choreographed her performance. Egurrola and Blanka have worked together before, for example at music events organized by TVP. One of the Polish famous people Michał Piróg wrote on his instagram: I just wanted to see the performance and expect what would surprise me. But there were also those who asked "who is supposed to be the best?" In the comment, he explained that he meant Agustin (They have worked together many times). The jury deliberately placed Jann low in the score because they didn't want him to win the competition. They noticed that he has a lot of support. But the truth is that people chose him.
Poland chose Jann as our representative. Blanka won unfairly. She was favored and had deals with the members of the jury and the TVP TV station. The jury was not objective. The public in Poland loved Jann and he received three times more votes than Blanka. Reportedly it was 50% of the vote to 17% . TVP is hiding the detailed voting results from us, the voting rules have been changed 4 days before the competition. They didn't show us the jury scorecards. They didn't show us the exact number of people's votes. In the article at 15 :33 it said that Blanka won and Jann was in second place, the competition started at 17 :30. The rules for selecting a candidate for Eurovision have been broken in several points. This competition was a rigged! The Eurovision media announced an official appeal to TVP. The media in Poland and famous people talk about this scandal and comment on the situation . Over 80,000 signatures have been submitted to a petition to change our representation to Jann. The TV station spit in our face. They are still silent! They don't want to explain it to us! We are fighting for them to speak out on this matter. The song "Solo" is a plagiarism of INNA - Up. We don't want to be represented by a scam!
The jury and television do not listen to people. We are still trying to fight this case because Blanka is not our true representative. Poland chose Jann! They block our comments and want to silence us. There are many more reasons to think that the competition was a rigged, what I wrote is not all.
Blanka liked some comments on her instagram. Unfortunately, this comment said that Jann is on the margins of society and people like him should not be in this competition, also it was written in the comment that we can't compare Blanka to a guy with an exposed belly. This comment also offended Krystian Ochman. She also liked the comment that Jann moves like a prostitute. These comments supported her, but at the end it was written these terrible things. After that, it became even more of a mess on her social media. Many times in interviews she said that she and Jan are friends and they support each other. Then in an interview she lied that she didn't like those comments. But people have recordings and evidence of it. We don't want to hate Blanka, we write her constructive criticism. According to people, she is not a worthy representative.
We prefer Poland to be disqualified than Blanka to perform. We want all of Europe and other countries to know that the choice of our representative did not belong to people. Jann is our winner. Thank you for yours reaction to Gladiator ❤

Veliki pozdrav iz Srbije, takodje. Ne dozvolite da se volja većine ne ispoštuje. Jan kao da je ovom pesmom predvideo šta će se desiti... kako god, svoju internacionalnu karijeru je zaslužio i osigurao. On jednostavno ne može da ostane neprimećen.
P.S. ipak se nadam da nije gej, i da će (kad dodje vreme) imati svoju lepu i talentovanu decu, kao što je on.

Ima tu i dosta licemjerja, jer je Blankin spot pomalo bezobrazan (pogotovo one igrice s hranom), a rijetko tko se na to ljuti. Jann je veliki pobjednik cijele situacije, osvojio je srca brojnih obožavatelja, a prije su ga poznavali samo oni koji su zalazili u glazbene klubove u većim poljskim gradovima.
Polish people actually voted for Jann so I think the jury or TVP (Polish Public Television) didn't want him to represent Poland. The head of the jury (Edyta Górniak) said that Jann is "demonic" 🤣 and another member of the jury didn't like his outfit.... oh, c'mon... this is sick. I don't see why a man couldn't wear clothes like Jann. I don't care about his sexual prefererance. He might be gay or streight, what does it matter? He's a great performer and I love his stage presence and charisma. His voice is great, he's a contratenor. Greetings from Poland, guys👍

he composed the music, lyrics and choreography all on his own as he didnt get any help from the ... polish people in charge who i forgot the name of. blanka did. this was also his first live performance and he had only 10 days to prepare himself to perform so he said no to dancers until unless he passed into eurovision.. so it's even more impressive

@@berlineczkaTeż tak myślę. Niektórzy dopisują Jannowi przynależność do społeczności LGBT trochę na wyrost, bo nie wiadomo nic o tym, a nigdy się nie wypowiadał na ten temat. To, że ma dziewczęcą urodę i ubiera czasami na scenę odważne ciuchy jeszcze o niczym nie świadczy. Zostawmy jego prywatność w spokoju. Może sobie nie życzy, żeby go stawiano jako przedstawiciela tego środowiska. W jednym z wywiadów powiedział, że nie chce być aktywistą i woli wyrażać swoje poglądy poprzez sztukę. Komentujmy więc jego sztukę, zamiast wypychać go na jakieś barykady.
Według mnie jego wygląd sceniczny bardziej pasuje do metala/rockmana, jak już mamy lecieć stereotypami. W ogóle to jest śmieszne, że w 2023 roku ludzie ekscytują się faktem, że chłopak odsłonił kawałek brzucha. 😉
It looks like a deliberate sabotage. If Jann would be Poland's representative, he could win the whole contest (with massive televote support). The jury E.Gorniak would lose her forever position in Poland's Eurovision history - she came 2nd in 1994, and she would not be mentioned anymore as the highest place. They just prevented this option. It is unbelievable what is happening, no one wants to hear people's voice, even the petition (like every riots in Poland) goes silent and neglected. Thank you for great reaction video!

It's funny because when Harry Styles wears a skirt is ok, but when Jann reveals his belly, he's worse. I think his outfit was also appropriate for what he is singing about. To be in showbiz, you either need to have money or show your body (if you know what I mean). Dress, dance, singing - everything is consistent with the message of the song, but unfortunately TVP has such limited thinking that everything comes down to one thing. I would like Jann to make a guest appearance in Liverpool at the final. For the Eurovision authorities to show support for the Polish society and a finger towards the prejudiced and limited Polish television

The vote was rigged. Facts:
1) Blanka is friends with the son of Edyta Górniak who was head of the jury.
2) Her dancers are from the dance studio of yet another juror (Agustin Egurolla).
3) She’s been heavily promoted and already performed in TVP, e.g. at the New Year’s Eve broadcast with the same song.
4) Although Jann and Alicja were clearly the favourites, the jury strategically put them in 4th and 5th places to make sure that who the jury picked won.
5) The rules on how the winner is picked were changed a couple of days before the broadcast. In past years, the winner was picked based solely on the televote but this year they decided to do it 50/50 jury’s vote and televote. And they even added a disclaimer that in case of a tie, the jury’s vote breaks it.
6) Probably most damning piece of info: at 3pm TVP posted that Blanka won and proceeded to quickly delete the post. The winner was officially announced around 6:30pm. There are screenshots.
It’s the homophobic nepotistic TVPiS that has spoken yet again, not Poland.
All of Poland is crying that the government institution called public television has took Eurovision away from us. 😭

I think it is extremely insulting to voters that their vote was not taken into account at all. Jann won 50% of the vote. I think the jury wanted to choose a light and cheerful song, thinking that it would really work at Eurovision. I suspect that the Jann song was considered by the jury to be too heavy and complicated, considering the viewers and Eurovision fans to be idiots. Because their heads stayed in the 90's. While everything else went ahead. This is Poland, connections mean more than talent and charisma. And so it is almost every year. You will not go to Eurovision because you are not known in the Polish celebrity world so children, girlfriends of famous actors, singers, celebrities are promoted.

I don't think this had anything to do with homophobia. I have 2 arguments for that:
1. We've already sent an opely queer person, Michał Szpak, to ESC a couple of years ago. Polish television was in the same hands back then.
2. Jann wasn't the only performer objectively better than Blanka - the're were at least 2, maybe 3 other songs which I would respect as a jury's choice.
Michał Wiśniewski, from the band Ich Troje, who was sent twice (2003 and 2006, I think) is openly bisexual and was like on his fourth marriage during the second time at Eurovison :D Also, Piasek (2001?) is gay as well, although he didn't officially come out until 2020 or so (but everybody knew anyway). This is not really about homophobia, but more about money and connections. Homophobia is a useful excuse.
I don't think it's an issue with Jann. We had other better perfomance then Blanka. She is in a big music label- Warner Music Polska, she have connections with jury. For me Jann was the best choice but Dominik Dudek or Alicja Szęmplińska were much better then Blanka, too

It's not like LGBT is an issue in polish society, every poll will tell you, that the majority of poles are in favor of LGBT rights, it's just that polish government is constantly looking for an enemy. They constantly attack Germany, LGBT, lawyers, teacher, doctors, immigrants (except for Ukraine ones) etc. And since TVP is totally controlled by the polish government (until recently their ex politic was CEO of TVP) this broadcaster does whatever they say. And as it is in such cases, sometimes even without any order, self censure is applied. However, here we can combine this with the fact that TVP is promoting their own stars whenever they can. So, for example Rafal Brzozowski hasn't won any pre-selection to represent Poland, but he is a star of TVP and favorite of its CEO. And looking at Blanka presence in TVP, we can say that she is their favorite as well. Add to this conflic of interest - her choreographer was in the jury, and the fact that 2 out of 2 members of jury come directly from administration of polish media (both TV and radio) and there were no way for a fair verdict... The head of jury is a great polish star, but she have problems with reality, so she might even not realise what was going on - seriously it's possible, as she lives in her own world ;P
Public tv is political correct, they can be homophobic, but Polish Society is more tolerant that is shown in media / yet I am not sure of Jann orientation, it can be just a show. It doesn't matter, I love Freddie Mercury, he was homosexual, and brilliant! I love people for how they are, what they bring to society, not how they love...

I must say I love one moment of Blanka's song. It's when pal who comments makes that partucular face when she starts wiht "Bejbęęęęęę!" XDDDD
Also, you must know that polish tv and cinematic sound makers have always been shit. So it's not always singer's fault. But - frankly- Blanka cannot sing.
And polish people did not chose Blanka. Jury chose her, because of a reasons like : homophobia of polish establishment, Blanka's support of some people in jury. Thats that. We love Jann. Please check out "Met the God"

I both agree and disagree. Yes, it's their very conservative values. But if they didn't want Jann, then why put Blanka at nr. 1??? Come on. There were many acts five times better than her. Sorry guys, but no, it has nothing to do with Poland being homophobic. People voted for him! Not for Blanka she is awful. She has connections with the jury, and this is why she is going. We are angry and trying to prevent it, but let's see if they will listen. I am ashamed, and he is my number 1. He can be gay or straight it makes zero difference to me, as artist is an artist, and love is love.

Truth is, I have no knowledge(nor do I care), about Jann sexuality, but he also was studied at the London music school, so his manner can get out of this, too. BUT. Also his song is saying about darkness and corruption of show business. Controversy was probably, too, goal.
From technicalities, all needed to say, TVP posted by mistake(they ALWAYS SC/W UP, even if they lie WHOLE TIME 🤡) 'winner' at 3:33pm 26th Feb. When contest was after 5PM. Plus choreographer juror working with Blanka's daddy, even is recorded giving her pointers. Son of another juror also is confirmed Blanka buddy. Rules got changed 2 days before contest, when everyone knew, Jann was public fav and till now, public was chosing. 🙌
Also, I saw phone records of people being there in reaction and SOUND WAS SOOO FATALLY DONE. Don't know, if just incompetent human, or was on purpose, but records show, he got no voice crashes, well breath control and his dancing was weirdly cutted, so it doesn't look half good, as it was...

Jann is not gay. I know many ppl would love him to be gay,but he isnt. Hes bit feminine,but its more for this song. Ive seen him live , in differeng song he behaves different. Also his voice was perfect. Its sound engeeners make not only him but all of artists sound bad in TV.

FINALLY SOMEBODY WHO NOTICED IT! There's LITERALLY NO IMPLICATIONS that he's gay but some people just jump to the conclusion for some reason. Idk, it's annoying. Maybe because he's a little feminine. We literally don't know anything about Jann's orientation so there is no reason to assume he's gay or not gay. The only thing which imply Jann's orientation is the song "Met the God" from his disc "Power". It's not genius to interpret this song as a commentary for Christian homophobia when Christians use God as a shield to hate gays and general question to God why he creates people who will burn in hell because they were born like this. However it doesn't prove ANYTHING because these might be his observations or experience of his friends. So we can't really find out if Jann is gay or not gay, he never said he's gay which means we don't know.

May be a red herring, may be an indication of his preferences, but who cares. Honestly, that is his private life and if he doesn't want to disclose his orientation to the public, he is under no obligation to do so. Also, it shouldn't matter anyway. He loves whom he loves (or no one, if he's ace) and that is fine. His masculinity or gender-bending stage persona is also for him to explore and play off.

As for Jann I'm sure he's going to be alright. Thanks to the controversy lots of people around the world heard of him. He seems like a real deal. I'm not sure whether Eurovision song contest is the best platform for real artists. He will be ok.
He was simply not tame enough for our state TV to let him win. Dressed in a nice conservative suit and not doing any dancing but just standing there (see Ochmann act from last year) they would likely let him win. But it would not be the same performance. We should save any displaced anger for the next elections as more and more Poles are sick of our joke of a government

Let me say what a lot of people are really thinking about Blanka & Solo. WARNING: Beginning of RANT.
Blanka from Poland is an utter embarrassment. Palms were definitely greased for her to represent Poland. I am so ashamed of them at TVP and Edyta Górniak, who totally threw integrity out of the window. The fact that Blanka's choreographer was on the jurors panel & Blanka's back up dancers are HIS dancers, the fact that Blanka is "great friends" with Edyta Górniak's son, the fact that Blanka's mother works/worked for TVP and her father is a wealthy Bulgarian businessman, the fact that the rules were changed just days before and the fact that she was announced the winner hours before she allegedly "won", it is just so obviously rigged in her favor. If having a rich Daddy and a connected Mommy equals talent then Blanka IS SO TALENTED. 😂 She was out of breath before she even finished the first verse. Wasn't even dancing enough to be so out of breath. 🤦🏼♀️
Why didn't they show any scores this year? Where were the fan's votes? So blatantly dishonest, it's disgusting. Their attitude is 'like it or leave it'. They act like they don't owe the Polish people an explanation. And they're not even trying to give the Polish people an explanation. Just crickets. The audacity. Edyta & whoever else was involved in this debauchery need to be held accountable for this blatant robbery. Never mind the song, their behavior is SO LOW. 👎🏻
Jann should have been chosen since he is the Polish fan's favorite. Period! Total bureaucratic bull$#!+. Nepotism has no place in Eurovision. Even if she DID have a decent voice, which she DOES NOT.

If Jann really didn't win (but we know he did 😉), it STILL shouldn't have gone to Blanka, it should have gone to Dominik Dudek. The only person honestly that was as bad as or worse than Blanka was Ahlena. Everyone else, no matter how good or bad, was still better than Blanka. This girl is a bad joke.
Then Edyta said she "couldn't in good conscience" send Jann, who is mega talented (writes his own lyrics & music AND exudes so much emotion & charisma, A true artist). Why? Just because he appears a bit androgynous? Or because he exposes his belly button? 😄 Not a good look for Poland? But she had no problem sending an oversexualized, trampy looking, spoiled rich girl that couldn't hold a note if it had a handle? THAT'S a good look for Poland? Yeah that makes so much sense.

He never said he is gay! I think the jury just thought this is not too commercial for Eurovision! He is a great artist!!!!!
Thing is, if the problem was just Jann, the jury could pick the 'be good' song. Dominik is a good singer and the song was pretty good too, my close second after gladiator. The jury wanted Blanka and no one else.

You're right. Poland is a very homophobic country. I'm ashamed of that. Love cannot be categorized. The Polish government and Polish public television are sowing chaos in Polish society. They openly incite hatred. However, I want to say that not all Poles agree with this. I think most of my compatriots just want freedom from conservatism. Jann is our national treasure.
