Heya, got a lot of people asking about the franchise nuzlocke with no repeats, just wanted to let you all know that it's not cancelled, I just find Gen 7 to be a really big ol' slog and I haven't brought myself to play it. Not looking forward to playing 4 Alola games back to back lol
Thank you for saving me embarrassment on asking you on Twitter about it.
Hope your card pulls go well!
Understandable have a great day
Not fun to do 4 back to back, but what if you break it up with 2 other games, like a Yugioh and a Beyblade or Bakugan game?
Or the common option of another pokemon game.
Don’t blame ya😅
Take you time meatball. We’re just glad to see you enjoying yourself again
“We’re short a few thousand pokedollars”
Oh no if only there was some move you could use that gave you money in wild battles…
Nah that would be busted. Like using the type most of the gen 1 OU meta is would be.
I know you talked recently about how burnt out you’ve been and how exhausting the constant nuzlockes have been, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the effort you put into your videos. I genuinely get excited when I see you’ve got new content and love all of the videos. Thanks for putting out such solid stuff!
Fun fact! During gen 1, pokemon was actually supposed to be set in our world. Kanto is a real part of Japan, and the Tiksi branch the employee mentions would be in Tiksi, Russia!
Tiksi is an actual place in Russia, the joke is that this worker is being sent to a frozen wasteland. Remember in gen 1, the pokemon world is basically just the real world but with pokemon in it
Tiksi is a real life arctic research facility in northern Siberia. It's not so much that the researcher was almost sent to another region, but that he was almost sent to a tiny town in the middle of literally nowhere within the arctic circle. Probably not the most desirable place to get relocated to.
It’s honestly amazing how much you’ve slimmed down since I first started watching you. It’s incredible and it’s great to see you take care of yourself. Keep up the amazing videos too✊🏾😁
Well this feels like a real NORMAL ChaoticMeatball video
12:30 Man, I miss the _old_ Surge, back when it was seventy percent sugar twenty-nine percent caffeine and one percent food coloring by volume. Me and my best friend would drink that stuff all day and run ourselves tired by night. Then they puled it from shelves and brought out the new and current recipe that wasn't diabetes in a can more so than any other "soft" drink. It's just not the same. And isn't really sold in most places around here.
15:26 It'd probably be a town and not a region, with the region itself being Russia themed in some manner.
Thanks for the video!
the production value in the rock tunnel segment is top tier
15:23 The "Tiksi Region" doesn't exist lol. If you read the follow up dialogue on that Scientist after the battle he says "Tiksi branch? It's in Russian no-man's-land!" The dialogue is referring to Tiksi, a small town in Russia, a real world location. It's not the only time real world geography is mentioned in gen 1 either, with mentions of Mew being discovered in South America and such.
I really really love your layout of your Pokémon and death counter and all that jazz. It’s just so nice to look at. 😭❤️ I appreciate you changing the colors to match the game(s) you’re playing. Your content is top tier and you’ve got jokes which I love.
Also just skip the sun and moon games I’m sure no one will miss them lol
Then it wouldn't be the whole franchise! Appreciate you sticking around for the content!
The Tiski Branch was said to be somewhere in Russia.
Tiksi is an actual town in Siberia on the Arctic coast near the Lena River delta. Apparently the Soviets did a fair bit of military construction there. And according to Wikipedia, it is the northernmost human settlement in the world to have more than 5,000 inhabitants.
It feels like half the people here (including Mr Meatball himself) are dyslexic. It very clearly says "TIKSI" on the screen...
Fun fact: Tiksii is in irl Northern Russia. The guy thought they were sending him to Siberia because he screwed up 😂
I'm excited for the Poison only B/W run, that region has some of my favorite poison types ever, especially Scolipede
Starmie seems to be based on a stylized starfish such as the purple sea star (due to its color), the sunflower sea star (due to its many arms) or the Hefferman's starfish (due to its color and central pattern, especially in the shiny form). Like Starmie, many real starfish have the ability to regenerate lost body parts. Given its ties to outer space and ability to emit light, it may also be based on literal stars and meteors. It is also reminiscent of ornate jewelry, with its central core resembling a faceted gem mounted inside a golden prong setting. The standard color of its gem resembles a ruby, while its Shiny color resembles a sapphire. Its tendency to rapidly spin its body is reminiscent of shuriken and propellers.
Exhibit A for why Bolt-Beam is just such a classic heavy hitting special moveset lmao, especially when you supplement it with even more like you did here.
It's un-resisted in Gen 1.
The Rock Tunnel part cracked me up 😂😂😂😂😂 another great video by the way man!!
There was an enjoyable increase in chaos this video which def helps to break up the sorta cookie cutter aspect of these nuzlocke runs. I say, whatever hasn't been done that you could do a weird spin on to maybe get around an otherwise impossible challenge, so long as it's a game and challenge you'd enjoy doing. Flygon recently did a "Seel Team 6" run which was quite cute and fun so perhaps do a less conventional take on your next nuzlockes to rejeuvenate your love and energy for the games. I don't blame you for avoiding Alola, I couldn't get myself through Island 2 of my Sun nuzlocke. It just sits there collecting dust sadly. So much grinding and bs story making an otherise really solid game unfun to deal with.
The slide at 13:30 was a thing of beauty! Top tier commitment to the cause. GG
2:13 I did not know I needed Mr. Beastball in my life
Either do I 😂
Tiski branch is real place in Russia, this was referencing real world places before the Pokemon world became it's seperate place
Past meatball: does something stupid
Future meatball: I was just making the run harder for myself because it was just to “easy”
Honestly? I feel lickitung is underrated.
Meatball looking way slimmer in his bits. Super proud of him
THANK YOU!!! I'm so pleased to see that graph, it's very satisfying to see these runs marked as Incomplete that didn't make it to Red. I'm personally excited for Fire type runs in the games with Vulpix in them, especially as its move type diversity and status coverage helps in later generations. Good luck with all this, and glad you're feeling better!
Breaking news: Local Meatball decimates Indigo league with a Marshmallow!
About the Tiksi branch of Silph Co... if you talk to him after you beat him, he tells you it's in "Russian no-man's land." I looked it up, and Tiksi is indeed a real place in Russia. It's another one of those moments in Kanto games where they drop info that means this is all taking place on Earth, kind of like the diary entries in the mansion about finding Mew in South America. Of course, they stopped trying to drop those bits of info in every region since, because to have the world of Pokemon be the same as Earth makes no sense and is dumb.
I've done one of these before! My favorite part was when Clefable completely carried literally the entire time!
Clefable is probably the second best special attacking Normal type in Gen 1. It has the movepool and stats to take advantage of it.
Missed opportunity to nicknamed jigglypuff Pinkuriboh
Glad you are back to your normal form.
Moments that almost killed me from laughing:
1. MISTER BEEEAST
2. Starmisery. I'm a sucker for the dad jokes 😂
3. Live action Rock Tunnel
I love the little live-action segments!
The unyielding rat power
Weird fact but Tiksi is actually a place in real life Russia haha! Kind of like how Kanto is actually a real like place in Japan.
15:37 tiksi is a location in russia, specifically siberia. the reference here is just to show that it is a bad location people don’t want to be
The rival 6 regular potion is *not* because he uses the rival 1A AI. He actually shares his AI with rivals 3, 4, and 5 (good AI + can use potion). The rival 1, 1A, and 2 AI can’t use any items, and is not good AI. Rival 7 has his own AI routine.
The stat experience doesn't cap at 25, but 63 ❤️ All 6 stats can hypothetically be as boosted as a perfectly boosted stat in Emerald.
Making it insanely broken. To put it into context, Spinda has 60 stats across the board, so it's like an extra spinda on top of every pokemon.
Not sure what you mean, isn't 2560 points 1 stat point? How is it distributed if you're able to get 63 points? Somebody needs to update the goddamn effort values article on Bulbapedia!
@@ChaoticMeatballTV The end equation is (the squareroot of the total Stat Exp.) Divided by 4. Which becomes 255/4 which becomes 63.
So if you get total stat exp. In all stats, it can become 63 in each stat.
Each stat can reach 65535 stat exp. Total. And only 25600 can be filled with vitamins (10 vitamins)
This was my first Nuzlocke... Raticate is a terror as you go, and the fact that hyper fang is available for Brock makes this a relatively easy challenge... Grats though on doing this
About that Team Rocket branch. Tiksi is a nickname for a district here in Vantaa, Finland
I was happy to see this, I love Gen 1 nuzlockes and yeah they aren’t done often enough.
Honestly, I think the gen 1-2 games having few is kind of understandable. A lot of the hardcore nuzlockers just don't play those games in general. The new and usually improved versions (HGSS and FRLG) have more quality of life improvements, and doing the same run between FRLG and R/B/Y is mostly trivial, since its almost the same game, in terms of the teams you fight.
LGPE and PLA are also not very "nuzlocke friendly". LGPE is very much an easy game, even amongst pokemon games, so applying hardcore nuzlocke rules is kind of weird for it, and PLA has substantially fewer battles than any other mainline game.
Tiksi is a real place in Siberia, the NPC calls it Russian no-man's-land. They did not have any sequels planned when making gen 1, which is why there are references to real world places like Guyana in gen 1.
Just wanted to let you know you are looking great! You made a lot of progress in the last year or two love these vids btw!
I'm 34, meats. I know that means nothing to most people, but the love of Gen 1 is real. Kanto and Johto are my thing, even though I never played the latter until 30. That said, I don't replay much Pokemon unless it is with my partner. Glad you can play these games without too much issues. Let me know if you ever want me to pontificate on the series for no one's amusement aside from my own.
When you do HG/SS, please do elite four round 2 before red. No one ever does those (except you sometimes), but they are a lot harder and make it more fun, plus that's the best generation.
I'm calling it now, Khangaskan
You look like a real life Dwarf
Normal types were one of my favorite types in gen 1 so I used a mono normal team a few times, definitely recommend firered and Leafgreen for it also, Radicate and Kangashan are amazing and of course, Clefable does what it does best lol
You've become a staple channel of my every day entertainment keep it up bro
I gotta see gen 2 dark types. that's an incredibly comprehensive chart. do you mean that it tracks every type/game combination that you have completed, or every type/game combination that anyone has completed?
I would love to see someone try pokenon xd with a monolocke using boss levels as the level caps. I think it would be very interesting
>Picks pokemon blue for the extra encounter
>Doesn't use it
The rock tunnel bit was beautiful.
Looking at the unfinished runs spreadsheet 1:09 and I started to think about steel types in FR/LG. Magneton against every pokemon that has earthquake can be interesting.
Actually that line about the "Tiksi Branch" is in reference to a real world location in Russia, similar to Raichu's pokedex entry mentioning Indian elephants it's one of those weird real world references that gen 1 has
It's so weird that i never got recommended this video until 2 months later.
LGP/E Fairy seems quite interesting
I hope for Sun and Moon nuzlocke! Its been 2 months since Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
I was watching this video on my lunch break and when you came to the rock tunnel part I spit my food out laughing hysterically. Thanks for making everyone in the lunch room look at me like I’m crazy. 😂
Normal typing is my favorite.
15:20 I just remembered two weird things that could’ve had some influence and another wild bit of speculation about gen 2
So first of all, I believe Tiski is a reference to a place in Russia. The early map of Spaceworld 97 was of course similar to Japan, and part of Japan actually was owned by Russia, so maybe there was some kind of postgame area based on it, if not just Sakhalin. It’s unlikely we will get Russia or China among others in a Pokémon game due to the obvious political climate surrounding those places.
Something that’s likely either a very weird coincidence or a strange reference is the fact that the Battle Tower resides within the equivalent of Sakhalin in Sinnoh, and within the beta of Gen 1, it’s revealed that there was a Battle Tower within Silph Co, with the reward being an area with grass that Mewtwo can be found in (as with other legends, with the only other differing location being Moltres in Cerulean Cave), and in the Battle tower in SWSH, you can be rewarded with a manmade legendary, Type Null
Speaking of the beta of generation 2, it almost feels like a region based on the US was planned, as not only is it referenced in Gen 1, but the first Pokémon in the 98 build is inspired by the Native American Kokopelli (although it’s unknown if it’s in chronological order, and if some are missing as there’s a large gap between gen 1 and these scrapped ones), which became a Pokémon that would become the final version of Celebi. Additionally, the first recognizable line was Xatu’s line. I have my own theories, like that the Kokopelli legend was meant to represent the breeding mechanic being based on a fertility deity, or was related to the Unown. I hope we can find out more, if more exists, but we may never know.
RAT POWER
Last time I was this early CM was doing a genlocke of Red/Blue
One of the nuzlockes I've been chomping at the bit to see is Legends Arceus Dark type.
Quick question just finished watching the lastest video on the mono Normal hardcore nuzlocke (great vid btw) but I was wondering am I missing something because I went to the description to find the link to the Google sheet that you made and I couldn't find it
AH!
Meatball's secretly a skeleton!
S P O O K Y
Oh my god you had me dying laughing at 2:13 after I saw the reaction on the bottom right corner and I immediately thought “MISTER BEAST!!!!”
A Fighting Crystal Locke would be fun!
Unless you can find a way of beating it nuzlocking BD/SP with Rock types is impossible because of Gardenia. I tried doing a simple monotype run but I couldn't get past her
Hey Chaotic - haven't seen your face for a while so that was a nice addition in this video! Wanted to say that you've lost a decent amount of weight since the last I saw you and you're looking good for it so keep it up bro! P.S I like your hair long but you need some facial hair to go with it! as always I love the attention to detail in your content so much and recognise the efforts you must go to with editing so wanted to let you know it's very much appreciated!
Ayo meatball, thanks for signing my mat at YCS vegas... AGAIN
15:45 meatball... Have you never read that guy's post-battle dialogue?
The Tiksi branch is in Russia
You look great! And as always, love the content.
I'd love to see some Arceus runs; it's such a great spinoff.
It might be fun to see if a monotype run without overlevelling can make Let's Go have some challenge. Mono-Bug springs to mind first, since you can actually get started fairly early, unlike Ice.
The sum-up of Rock Tunnel 😂😂
I’m surprised you didn’t use Persian, I’m under the impression that with the way crit hits work in Gen 1 once you get slash it crits that move every time making it a solid late game player
we should just call this the clefable only run
I did this in fire red. Brock took me 3 attempts to get past since he actually has rock moves. This was with resetting for guts.
I've done a bug monotype in yellow and it's quite unconsistant. Scyzer substituye to abuss AI sword dande and hiper Bean if you miss too many the run is over
It's harder in Yellow due to less options. The Weedle line isn't in Yellow. You'd be stuck with Butterfree for a long time and keeping it alive can be a challenge with nothing to switch into.
@@ShiningJudgment666 buterfree for Brock and paras for mysti and surge the both scyzer and pinsir and no rhydon for the rival.
Actually there is surge zero, they happen to have some in the coke machines in Burger King!
Clefable used "unga-bunga". It's super-effective!
We have the same floor tile
Storm Silver when???? Prof Oak challenge needed there, considered one of the best rom hacks
There are two wolves inside me.
One doesn't want to leave a comment about poor macro strategies.
The other does because comments are good for the RUclips algorithm.
I feel like you should try playing without ev/stat xp grinding just to make it a bit more difficult and I feel like it’d make for better content so you’re not just steam rolling through everything
The kangaskhan slander at the beginning of the video will not stand. Outside of competitive in a solo run or nuzlocke kangaskhan is arguably better than Tauros because bulkiness is more valuable
I argue the opposite, why have bulk when you can just one shot everything?
@@ChaoticMeatballTV because in a nuzlocke you very often have to switch in and out a good bit so the ability to stay in three turns rather than two is important. Also Tauros' speed is far more relevant in competitive than in a challenge run. Also Tauros learnset in gen 1 is beyond ass. It's dismal. Kangaskhans is marginally better but still not good. As more evidence you should watch jrose run kangaskhan and Tauros back to back. Spoiler kangaskhan was faster
I’m glad to see that your throat is better also where Franchiseloke?
Fantastix run as always sir. A run not done yet could be the gs poison run. While the poison type isnt the best in gen 2, it would be an interestinf run with the gen 1 and 2 poison types mostly in johto. Along with this, for the steel gym, either a koffing/weezing with flamw blast from the game corner or if allowed, traded gengar with fire punch would be a big help for steels
Tauros was my boy back in the late 90s playing RBY!
love your videos 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Fighting in gen 1 is probably impossible just because of psychic being OP. But how would you even start a dragon run?
Fighting would probably border on it. Dragon would be difficult because it essentially becomes a solo run. You'd use a Save Editor to change your starter as you can't get Dratini until the Game Corner which needs a lot of money and isn't catchable until the Safari Zone.
I think the rythm you have for your jokes is lowkey amazing it's subtle but lands everytime
sometimes keeping your identity and face a secret is better
MR. BEAST!!!
Calls a pokémon Fairly Bad, said Pokémon owns both the mid and end game ...
P *ersian,* only in Blue V *ersion,* so of course we're going with said v *ersion.*
NOT THE SLAPSTICK LMAO
Dragon mono of any series would be very interesting! Especially in an older game like crystal
I did a hardcore nuzlocke of Red the other week with only Raticates that I called the top%locke. Was a fun run
