Wow wat a ferocious performance :-) Truly the greatest of all time. Made evident by vids such as these showcasing his ability to make other great fighters of his time look average. Amazing
I have to give Pinklon loads of respect for this performance - he was a good fighter and had an awesome chin but of course no one would be able to stand up to a consecutive set of heavy headshots like he took. Many other fighters would have gone down from any individual punch in that salvo I feel. Pinklon Thomas and Tyrell Biggs were both quality fighters who probably would have done much better had drugs not damaged them.
thanks man.yeah it just pisses me off seeing people who apparently have no interest in the sport log onto youtube and end up having petty arguments with each other not evan commenting on the fight at hand
@fenceman456 I personally like his 2 figths with ruddock too. Some people say he had difficulty there but not my opinion. I thought that was a decent test for tyson and he proved he can fight tough fights. In fact, he dominated ruddock but of course ruddock had his moments. I watch tyson fights a lot too and even then, im still in awe of his punching prowess. His speed and pinpoint accuracy never ceases to amaze me.
Thomas fought a good fight here, he was part of that crop of very good (underestimated) crop of 80's heavies including Tucker, Bruno, Witherspoon, Tubbs, Carl Williams, Bonecrusher Smith etc............Tyson great though......
@Moonraker1974 I agree, in his prime he was very difficult to catch clean on the chin and moreso on the body. Kevin rooney really molded Tyson into the complete package in the heavyweight division of the 80's. He could punch with either hand, can switch hit bieng naturally left handed, had amazing speed, timing and made up for his lack of height with his ability to get under taller people and hammer them to the body.
@LedWhiskey69 I agree entirely. It really pisses me off when people who know jack-shit about boxing say "TYSON WAS JUST AN ANIMAL!" That's bullshit. He was, in his prime, an intelligent, perfectly crafted boxing machine.
Pinklon had the potential to beat Mike. Tyson seemed somewhat concerned. Pinklon had a strong chin, good boxing skills, strong, and he wasn't intimidated by Mike. If Pinklon was a little more in a zone with a better strategy, he might have pulled the upset.
It's not in this clip but I'm sure that Tyson told Rooney, muffled by gumshield, that Thomas was getting tired at the end of round 5 and he was absolutely right.
Thomas was doing well in this fight, but it was also clear that Tyson was putting wear and tear on Pinklon. Thomas lacked the more stunning power that was necessary to really hurt Tyson AND he lacked the elusiveness rapid combos that would doom Tyson against Douglas. Hence, as the fight went on, everything favored the younger, stronger and faster Tyson. I think Pinklon fought well but he was not really in Tyson's class.
rapedbyrepublicans.you are about the only person on youtube that practicly everything you say is totally agreeable you realy seem to know your stuff.good on ya.....
Wow, Thomas could take a punch. Tyson hit him with several bombs before he finally went down. Most boxers would have buckled from the first big hit by Tyson
@RapedByRepublicans ,I believed tyson was the top 3 of all time here but maybe his lax in his focus caused him his losses in his career becasue i forgot how lax he appeaared in this fight for a while before the deadly ko.What if douglas or holyfield got a hold of this tyson in the third and fourth rounds when tyson just relaxed. They could have easily teed off on tyson here also.. I don;t know what to think.Tysons ko here was what he should have done to holy and douglas.why didnt he?
@1899sharkey The tyson that obliterated and demolished and decapitated a still very capable Holmes could beat ali, foreman, liston, louis, frazier, lewis, holyfield, douglas, bowe. Would he? certainly I have my money on that tyson period early 88.The way he beat holmes ,in hindsight,he was a very difficult man to beat. understand how brutal he reached until march 88 when he got married and gave up most of the conditioning and training that maintained his techniques.first thing that goes are reflexes
tyson is a legend.his power,.speed,..style,..elusiveness...tyson is a all-time great.. that left hook at 558 was a explosion.

Man that combination was deadly

i know this is a fight between Tyson and Pinklon but what fight are the announcers watching?
I thought Lionel Richie was fighting Tyson.
When Rooney says: bad intentions Mike bad intentions, you know shit just got real.

During his heyday, tysons punches were so hard that it went throuhg the opponents blocking hands lol.

How three "experts" don´t see how tired and how weak Thomas punches are at this point is beyond me. He was shot from second round until the end.
@mmcneil777 Would have... could have... maybe... not of that matters.
he was close
