You are correct. It is timeless. I was born 1959 when they created "The Great Pretender". Only discovered it much later (obviously). Now (2023) I appreciate their talent so much.
Only You was our wedding song in 1965. Tony Williams was the lead and nobody could have sung it better. A few months ago I was heading into the entrance of a supermarket and this song started playing and I teared up and stopped dead in my tracks. Couldn't move until it was finished. One of the most beautiful songs ever..

This was the song my Grandfather played when my grandmother passed in 2003, and it was the same song that my mother played for him when he passed in 21. It was undoubtedly one of his most favorite songs.
I think the creepiest part was trying to approach his mansion afterwards in free roam, and you immediately start hearing it play louder and louder until it just makes you shut down and walk away. Just the fact that you can't even step foot near the mansion even after Jacob's death and liberating the Whitetail mountains because he fucked your brain up so much with that mental conditioning the song still strongly affects you.
@@haystackbill6187 If you jump into the water right after the song starts and stay submerged till white light flashes then you will become invisible and can enter the mansion.

This and The Great Pretender are my two favorite Platter songs. I've been listening to them since 1958, when I was 11, on Cuban radio . I've lived in the US since the end of '60 and I've gone through all the changes music went through, but, at 67, I still love the Platters .
This was played today at my very dear and beloved favourite auntie 's funeral this song was from my aunties grown up children for her , it broke my heart to hear it she was serenaded by voices of Angels . R.I.P auntie Shirley ❤❤😇😇😇😇😇
Guy behind the girl could pass for David Allen Grier's father! Whenever I hear a Platters song, it immediately takes me back to Sunday dinners of my childhood; my dad would put 3 or 4 LPs on the record changer just as mom was putting food on the table!
I dedicate this song to my first love. Who is Always faithful to me even in my darkest times and in my most selfish ways. Who has never left me or abandoned me. Who loved me before I knew him. Who formed me in my mother womb. The one who knew me before the foundations of the world were set. The Man Jesus Christ ❤

Beautiful song by The Platters, dating from 1955, so released two years before my birth year 1957. As a DJ I played 'Only You' at every party for twenty years in a row. Unforgettable song !
