My favorite is how she's wearing that glitzy dress and he's wearing jeans and a T shirt and you don't even pause. That, my friends, is the magic of theatre.
A Grease alumni and a future Grease star! Stockard is as beautiful as she was when she played Rizzo. I'm excited to see Aaron play Danny in Grease Live in two weeks. Also the guy from Poison I feel bad he got hurt in the beginning
Aaron Tveit is the quintessential Broadway star and deserves all the accolades. I’m so lucky to have seen him. What a great performance with Stockard Channing.
Can I just say I love how it was kind of flirty? Stockard ruffled her boa at Aaron. Aaron pulled at a strand of her hair. Guh. I love him way too much.
What a fabulus duet!! :D It was so sexy when Stockard draped her fur over Aaron's shoulder and when he twirled her hair. They both have gorgeous, powerful voices and just ooze sex appeal. Very hot.
Part of the issue with this "mashup" of these songs is that the music and the lyrics of these two songs do NOT mashup. They don't complement each other, they don't create a richer experience; all they do is make both performers look very uncomfortable and out of their elements. The Tonys should have given both performers (actually, all of this medley) the opportunity to do their songs alone, in context.
That's kind of true. However, I think the reason they put these two together is because of Stockard Channing's character is Pal Joey. Her character has a sexual affair with a young boy in his early twenties, which fits the description of Gabe. Thus, I guess they wanted to create a fantasy in which Gabe was her secret young lover. It's still odd though nonethless....lol
Tveit looks a little lost without the bars to dance around, ahah. Damn the Tony's for giving these two 1 freaking minute to perform while Shrek can afford to have the entire goddamn cast on stage.
@jrny10011 i wouldnt say that it gives musicals bad names, its just not in the same league as most of the musicals on broadway! I like the musical but i dont think it deserved a place on broadway a national tour would have been more suited for a show like shrek

8cmn He's wearing his costume from his play and I imagine she is doing the same
@@sarahjswomley7885 we know. That was probably the op’s point.
didn't you cringe when you typed "that, my friends ..."? I cringed for you when I read it.
I love when Aaron comes out and the crowd just freaking goes wild
Did anyone else give a little scream of joy when Aaron came out?
no, but I vomited in my mouth a little
@@Marcel_AudubonYou should see a doctor.
I am absolutely enchanted by Aaron's breathing technique. He's got power in those last few notes! :)

look its rizzo and danny! 😂✌
There performance together was captivating! I couldn't look away and they were both so in character!
Aaron Tveit is the quintessential Broadway star and deserves all the accolades. I’m so lucky to have seen him. What a great performance with Stockard Channing.
don't you mean cap-tveit-ing? sorry i couldn't resist
Stockyard Channing has to be one of the most talented people of all time!
I said that 25 years when I first saw her.
This song has the best things in the world. Aaron Tveit, Stockard Channing, beautiful music, and Bret Michaels getting clocked in the head.
Jeez when he walks on stage in award shows Arron just steals the place--or any place for that matter
They are both so incredibly talented.
This was literally the only part of the whole opening sequence that wasn't a complete disaster.
such an odd pairing xD but i will always love Aaron
0:51 Aaron sneaky
ValeNyan just being Gabe
YES YES YES YES STOCKARD AND AARON PERFECTION
Hey look someone else can see Gabe!
Seeing Brett Michaels get knocked down by the set at the beginning of this video always makes me LOL
I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!! ooh Aaron.. ♥♥
-3 aaron tveit and stockard channing!!! both brilliant, and both genders should love them
i will never regret falling in love with musicals.
This is when I first saw and fell in love with Aaron .
Oh my gosh! Stockard and Aaron!
oh hayy aaron tveit nd ur gorgeousness
anyone else love how aaron goes offstage belting his sexy little heart out?
I started to scream with the crowd when i saw him! Scared my family!
I have no idea what that was....but I loved it.
IKR i haven't seen the entirety of this opening but I was look hey look its aaron! *click*
Can I just say I love how it was kind of flirty? Stockard ruffled her boa at Aaron. Aaron pulled at a strand of her hair. Guh. I love him way too much.
Stockard is sooo beautiful, she doesn't now age :-)

The 2009 Tony opener was such a shitshow of an opener that you've gotta love it! IDK _who_ thought to do this mashup, but I love you for it!😂
why? it didn't work and it took time away from Stockard Channing
awesome
How have I never seen this before? Omg
Arron's angelic voice even covers Channing's lol
It was really late so it had to be a little scream. The big scream came when he walked off stage and you could still hear him!
She's gonna rule the school.
ahh yes!
hes still gonna be there when i see it!
Can we talk about how we went from this wonderful performance to Shrek entering the stage😀
Aarons current co-star in Sweeney Todd, Sutton Foster.
this is better than this year's!
one day i will see him live i am determined
Thumbs up if you saw Catch Me If You Can (should have stayed on wayyy longer).
I fucking hate there’s only a minute of performance lol. This lives in my head rent free.
Best part is when Brett Michaels getting nailed by that bar in the beginning
shes sooo cool,i wish it ws just her !!!!
RIZZO!!
lol I can't help but think of her in that role!

This is disastrous
@sourpatch5559 it closed. and they did switch the cast minus louis hobson and adam chandler berat. they're on tour now.
@zidsrik Shrek was still one of the best damn musicals I've ever seen
@mefmef10...... I thank you!
Tveit looks a little lost without the bars to dance around, ahah. Damn the Tony's for giving these two 1 freaking minute to perform while Shrek can afford to have the entire goddamn cast on stage.
Did u see him touch her hair at :52?
Do you think??? I LOVED IT!
omggg is that that girl from Grease??? the original movie
@Swabby88 ... I'm hoping you've only ever seen one musical, in that case.
Stockard is gorgeous.
And I love Aaron.
But idk how I feel about the two songs together.
@runnyc33 I think that Gabe is actually 18 though....
I think Pal Joey was a special engagement. I don't think they recorded it. I could be wrong though.
@jrny10011 i wouldnt say that it gives musicals bad names, its just not in the same league as most of the musicals on broadway! I like the musical but i dont think it deserved a place on broadway a national tour would have been more suited for a show like shrek
is that rizzo form grease
@VenenoSocial Don't hate on him forr that!! LOVE HIM FOR IT :)
0:43, you can totally see someone on the left. Proably to grab that hat that fell off Bret Michaels earlier
Damn, lol!
AT so hot.
I hate Aaron Tveit for being so damn hot and talented!
Did anyone else notice the random guy in the stage right wing around 0:44?
sorry didnt mean to press thumb down accident def. worth 5 thumbs up
How do pronounce his last name?
ROFL random guy at :43
omg yes!!! but...not a little scream
is aaron still doing n2n?
he is?! noooo :(
he just ate too too hard
@zidsrik dont diss shrek
I heard next to normal is closing? Bit yyyuy:( didn't it just get to broader y don't they just switch the cast
the songs are unbelieveably awesome obviously, but they didnt quite go together very well in my opinion
@Thewaiter525600 Bahahaha!!!
@zidsrik haha, does anyone actually care about shrek on broadway? what a waste
@jrny10011 Alright, well, opinions are opinions. I don't like her voice. At all.
The songs don't fit each other rhythmically
@jrny10011 Shrek is awful. No one is arguing that. But pretending that Stockard Channing was the best part? Really?
I love it, I love them, but HATE the fur. horrible.
