Exactly. LTT and Level1tech also showed or talked about it in some way. That is the real picture. 1080p gaming with RTX 4090 GPU and generating 400-600+ frames is not gaming but a CPU benchmark. So this shows that 9800X3D is KING in Benchmarks loading it with games but that doesn't mean "gaming".
You are the first reviewer I’ve seen acknowledge the 4K performance at all. I’m looking to buy a new 4K qd-oled, and now I know I’m probably fine with my 7700x for another year or two. Seriously, most valuable information I’ve had all day.
@@PyrianVT but it's important to note. The gains for most people using this, won't be NEARLY as much as if you ran at 1080p Running tests that have no value to anyone doesn't make sense.
I know I'm purchasing the 9800X3D first thing Thursday morning as I already have a X870P MB and 64GB 6400MT/s RAM. Not a bad upgrade for less than $1,000 coming from AM4. Probably upgrade to 8300MT/s RAM If it's beneficial. The 5800X3D feels outdated to me and I was not impressed with the 7800X3D.
What about RAM? Is the best RAM speed still 6000 mhz? The latest X870 and X870E m\b support up to 8000. I would really like to see another video talk about RAM speeds and the optimal one (I do know not all boards support 8000, which is why I want to know if it even matters before buying a new one (upgrading from my trusty i5 8600K).
Question, I'm running a ryzen 7800 x3d on MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI, Just wonder, how much of a gain would I get.. Also I've started doing a bit more than just gaming too.. Anyt thoughts?
Yeah, there's something I don't get. Some people, like Paul, say, "It's great, it's super efficient and all," but actually, no. It's a bit more powerful-fine, that's cool-but it also consumes proportionally more energy! So it's not more efficient; the FPS goes up a bit, and so does the electricity bill.
a lot of boards..if not all boards, when you start using the nvme , the gpu turns into PCI GEN5 x8, basically a GEN4x16. This is all due to issues with getting the lanes setup with 2 usb4.0 mandatory requirement. better off getting x670e instead
You are right. If you will be coming from 7800x3d, don't upgrade into 9800x3d as the performance gain per dollar is not really worth it. You can decide to upgrade to 9900x3d/9950x3d if they will have the cache on both CCDs. Take note that AMD chose to release the 8 core x3d first before the 12 and 16 core which is different from the 7000 series x3ds. This might mean that the 12 and 16 core x3ds are expected to sell even if they release 9800x3d first. Unless they surprise all of us and release all of them together.
"FASTEST if gaming in 1080p with pricey RTX 4090 GPU" Bitwit at least talked and showed the real world use of gaming NOT 1080p where CPU doesn't make that big of a deal. Only other who showed or said something about it was Linus and Wendell. If you plan to game in 1440p with some medium or high settings this CPU does note make any sense because playing Tomb Raider in 1080p on RTX4090 is the most stupidest way to game...
just say "if you're gonna be bottlenecked by your GPU, then might as well look at something else", saying this cpu doesn't make any sense is the only stupid part here, games become cpu intensive as time progresses, so those CPU that might be ok today wont be ok in the future, and the moment you need to upgrade, youll have to upgrade everything. On the other hand, having a cpu at this price point, that will scale up well for years could save you a lot of money without losing much in terms of performance. So how is that stupid?

Thank you for actually doing testing in 4k. Most people buying this CPU will be either 1440p or 4k and providing real use data is important.
at 4k, you're relying on GPU horsepower at that point.

Yes I got a RUclips recommends this video as about the 9th 9800 review I watched despite being subscribed for like 2 years+

slick new charts with the app/game running behind the chart. very nice Kyle!

I wantes this cpu so bad but i ended up finding a 7800x3d on sale for 300$ totally worth it
Throwing out synthetic benchmarks for more games would be great

The negligible performance increase for 4k is why I haven’t upgraded from my 7700x with my 4080.

Is there any benefits of getting a x3d over a regular chip if gaming at 4k?
In CPU heavy areas in games that also have path tracing enabled, then yes it will help even at 4K
Market areas in CP77 being the perfect example
see the clocks they usually lower than regular ones, but perform better
