Yeah that was Rock, coming back to watch this vid again. Loved the return of Terry and having a legacy play through of the likes. The story here is that Terry simply won prize money, he bought that fishing boat at some point. He eventually winds up losing the boat. Forget if he had to just let it go due to something or sold it for some money after using it a handful of times.
Not sure if you are going to see this, but, each character has a move or two that can only be performed as combination of button presses similar to Tekken. For Terry's Power Dunk, it's down-foward + A, then up-forward or AB + forward for Power Charge.

The well-dressed bloke who hangs out with Bob Wilson is Richard Meyer, the capoeirista from the first game. Rick mentored him in capoeira and then hired him to manage the second Pao Pao Cafe location, eventually making him its full owner.
Aww man, where's Real Bout Special? That was my favorite Fatal Fury game (along with Garou). RB2 is excellent as well tho. Definitely top 3. Also this game is non canon, same for RBS. The first Real Bout (where Geese dies) is the last canon game in the series before Garou.
Sheijla Laranda Well the Real Bout series (and Fatal Fury 3) went with a more anime style than the old Fatal Fury games, similar to how Capcom did with the Alpha series.
As a Terry main in literally every SNK game he's ever appeared in (yup, even SNK Heroines, don't @ me 😅), I'm absolutely stoked to see him represented in Smash. He's gonna be amazing.
RBFF2 is among the most underrated fighting games ever. Only this game and Street Fighter Alpha 2 from Capcom side, offer such an experience. Unfortunately, it didnt receive ports to the famous consoles back then and thats a serious reason why it wasnt very known and somewhat ditched.
Power dunk is df+A, then uf+B. In one lane stages you can bounce the enemy against the background and hit him again on his way back, Round wave hits enemies on both planes and P. Geyser has a tricky hitbox; this Terry has one of the best arsenals, you can easily destroy a big chunk of the enemy's energy with a combo, you can do short B. knuckle followed by Fire kick (the kick launcher) and then R. Tackle. Also Krauser is a beast, Geese badass as usual and other characters like Duck and Rick were really fun to use, Vanessa has several of Rick's moves.
He is not playing any of these games again lol... He is too outside his element in Snk games (as anyone is able to see in the videos). Also the games dont mean anything to his mainly American audience - who just like him grew alienated from Snk and are only attached to Capcom. I mean, he could pick Mvci to play, and it would be a more popular video than a video with the best Snk game. That's how the American fg fans are.
@@carlosaugusto9821 I guess I'm a rare case. I'm American and grew up playing Fatal Fury, KOF, World Heroes, etc. If I didn't have the game, somebody I knew likely did.
I know this is old, but Max had to skipped games because the Terry DLC for Smash was right around the corner and Terry is in so many fighting games as well. He couldn't do all of them in time for the Terry DLC.
I can't believe that you of all people haven't even played SNK fighting games until now Max you missed out on alot but hey better later than never and to me REAL BOUT 2 was the best one game mechanics wise from the fight system to the animations it was superb even better than Street Fighter Alpha series at times but sadly it one of those Arcade Gems that got overlooked at times due to Street Fighter's popularity and Inam glad that you are taking the time to revisit some of these great arcade games Thank you Max.
I've just ragequitted Fatal Fury 3 against Geese at level 1 and watching you curbstomping everything it's quite cathartic I gotta say XD I wish I could be at least a quarter as good as you
Wow, even when he is like a literal total Noob in old Snk games? You should then train some stuff before going to the arcade mode. Like, to me there were many painful to watch bits in these videos, almost unwatchable bits. But that's Just because i'm a Snk fan...
I main Terry in Smash and since his release I have checked out a lot of Fatal Fury games. I am absolute trash at them and other arcade fighters, but watching Max play them is really entertaining and awesome!
This is my favorite fighting game without "Street Fighter" in the title, even above Garou: Mark of the Wolves, if not simply because Xiangfei is a fun character to play as. Love her move set.
They were under a certain game presentation mindset, in the late 90s, where they were inclined to simplify things, instead of growing them in a linear way (like the natural expectation based on RBS from RB1). It was like: now let's cut out even seconds (intros and these special details) to make the game more profit efficient. That reminds me of how Capcom toned down some presentation elements in 3s, compared to 2i. Like, 2i ended up being the Last game with a specific victory and defeat art. It's simply that Capcom somehow decided to bet on a Very distinct musical direction for 3s, and that worked amazingly well. But the game doesnt have much care put on that presentation factor (unlike Sfa3 for example). It was a random bet that played out Very good for them. Both of those companies started getting kinda tired, i think. In the late 90s, with the notable exception of Jojo's Bizarre Aventure in the Capcom side, and Garou in the Snk side, It was mostly a time of winning the war by recycling your shit the most efficiently...
Terry's Fire Kick (the slide kick into launcher Max uses a lot) is used only in Real Bout 2 and KOF '98 if you use Terry's alt moveset, which is actually called RBS2 Terry, as it's based off of this Terry.
@@dealt I have '98 on my PSP; what I did there was hold start while choosing Terry as normal. You can do this for a number of characters, like Kyo, Andy, Yuri, Mai, among some others. You can even use the '97 Orochi forms of Chris, Shermie, and Yashiro.
I loved how different this game is compared to Street Fighter it has its own identity, the fact you can jump to the back of the level. And you have 3 health bars and not one
This game is SO ARCADE. It's amazing how little time it wastes, it's all about action all the time, even more than MvC1. Not to mention thw graphics... * ----* PLAIN S M O O T H
I made the comment when you first started the Terry Legacy about Real Bout 2. Literally my favorite SNK fighter out of all of them. It even stands above alot of Capcom games. I love the overall feel and balance of it and the roster runs the gamut. If you're into rushdown, you try Rick. He's a real in-your-face beast.
Pretty sure in this game there are combos that beat you back and forth between the planes in the same string.. the combo strings in general were awesome at this point.. and to have terry do a lifebar-high power geyser was amazing
I'm conflicted between this art style and Real Bout 1's; RB2 has gorgeous, smoothly animated sprites but the asthetic is more cartoony and reminds me of SF Alpha. RB1's characters aren't as animated, but that game is very distinctly Fatal Fury, you can't confuse it with any other fighting game, even KOF. It's more noticeable on the side characters, Franco Bash for example looks like he was based on a real person in RB1, but in 2 he looks like he was taken from Ren & Stimpy.
One thing I didn't like about Real Bout Special/2 is how SNK re-designed Franco Bash. They pretty much made him into a joke character with moves that look awkward and ugly and really dumb winposes. Also I personally preferred the Southtown setting, although objectively the stages in this game look pretty damn nice.
I binged Max's "Terry legacy" videos today and I'm shook to my core that Fatal Fury 91 and Real Bout Newcomers were made for *THE SAME FUCKING SYSTEM*. Neo Geo was a god-tier console/arcade
I keep forgetting everyone didn't get to play these Neo Geo games at home like I did when I was a kid. I just so happened to be a very lucky to play a lot of games from overseas due to the fact that I had a friend who was really into techy stuff back in the 90s so he had a lot of stuff shipped in from overseas so a lot of the games most people didn't get to play at home or what was playing in arcades I got to play at home Thruway of my best friend. I really miss those days.
The presentation of this game was simple because they made it to fit well in CD version for NGCD ! RB1 have HUGE loading times, RBS is little bit better but RB2 is twice time more quick to loading match ! With better music, some exclusive mode (survival, I don't remember if the AES version have it), RB2 on NGCD is surely the best versus fighting on this system and the best version.

SNK was way ahead of it's time.
This was in 1998 check Art of Fighting 3 and Real Bout Special both from 1996
Yeah. And the prices for those Neo Geo shows how ahead they were. 600-800 USD back on the early mid 90's.
I love this game. Under-rated and under-appreciated. Like so many FF/SNK fighters. Great to see you playing all these classics. Nice intro too.
Only until you cross the u.s border... (even If just virtually)
The soundtrack of jin chonrei and chonsu is one of the best EVER!!!!!!
Try Rick out when you get the time guys, shame he hasn't come back in anything yet
If I didn't have the game, somebody I knew likely did.
i love the music of this game, specially chonrei/chonshu's theme
Rick strowd was my favorite character in this game.
Why would you skip things when you know every games gonna be different
@Romàn Nauwelaers Mostly chat
I know this is old, but Max had to skipped games because the Terry DLC for Smash was right around the corner and Terry is in so many fighting games as well. He couldn't do all of them in time for the Terry DLC.
@@luxerhusku2609 ah understandable. Just thought it was a shame because some of the games he skipped were my fav
I would die for good sprite art
“Get in the ring! Get up my ass!”
-accidentally gay Max
I can't believe that you of all people haven't even played SNK fighting games until now Max you missed out on alot but hey better later than never and to me REAL BOUT 2 was the best one game mechanics wise from the fight system to the animations it was superb even better than Street Fighter Alpha series at times but sadly it one of those Arcade Gems that got overlooked at times due to Street Fighter's popularity and Inam glad that you are taking the time to revisit some of these great arcade games Thank you Max.
He's biased towards Street fighter and it generates more views for him talking about it than other games
That command launcher, the fire kick, returns in KoF98UM if you pick EX Terry, and in KoF2k6/Max Impact 2.
16:01 I see where MvC2 sought inspiration for its ending..
I've just ragequitted Fatal Fury 3 against Geese at level 1 and watching you curbstomping everything it's quite cathartic I gotta say XD I wish I could be at least a quarter as good as you
They made the AI a bit more fair starting with Real Bout 1 so give those a try too for a less frustrating time.
It's all in your heart buddy. I'm young and I'm starting to get a feel for old fighters so games like these just come naturally to me 😂🎮
Nice. BTW Max, I saw the add for the mobile KoF game where they asked you about your favorite character.
8:00 My god, cover his ball with Terrys cap.
Man, Terry's Fire Kick is a move that HAS to make a return for good, PLEASE SNK!
This is my favorite fighting game without "Street Fighter" in the title, even above Garou: Mark of the Wolves, if not simply because Xiangfei is a fun character to play as. Love her move set.
real bout 2 is really good but the missing character intros feels really awkward
You skipped REAL BOUT SPECIAL!! That's the most awesome game out of the series!
He also skipped Real Bout Special Dominated Mind
@@chainedwanderer
That one wasn't so good, not bad but not good
@@chainedwanderer and he'll probably skip Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition (or maybe not....but prob)
@@JosephXFS The SF3 like parry system alone is worth the view; also the Clockwork Orange final boss with his cheap OHKO desperation move lol
@@budgiecat9039 you said it my friend, the anime intro and cutscenes are worth it also.
Terry's Fire Kick (the slide kick into launcher Max uses a lot) is used only in Real Bout 2 and KOF '98 if you use Terry's alt moveset, which is actually called RBS2 Terry, as it's based off of this Terry.
How do you select the Real Bout 2 version of Terry in KOF 98?
@@dealt I have '98 on my PSP; what I did there was hold start while choosing Terry as normal. You can do this for a number of characters, like Kyo, Andy, Yuri, Mai, among some others. You can even use the '97 Orochi forms of Chris, Shermie, and Yashiro.
I loved how different this game is compared to Street Fighter it has its own identity, the fact you can jump to the back of the level. And you have 3 health bars and not one
The tournaments scene for this game is really good. 🇯🇵
This game is SO ARCADE.
It's amazing how little time it wastes, it's all about action all the time, even more than MvC1. Not to mention thw graphics... * ----*
PLAIN S M O O T H
Neo Geo; Neo Geo, four bright buttons and two joysticks!
Max, can't you make playlists for your character legacy series?
it would be so convenient to watch all episodes in a row like that.
So glad max is playing this . i had this on mame and its a blast.
ahh I think this game has my favorite hit sound effects just sounds so satisfying
I made the comment when you first started the Terry Legacy about Real Bout 2. Literally my favorite SNK fighter out of all of them. It even stands above alot of Capcom games. I love the overall feel and balance of it and the roster runs the gamut. If you're into rushdown, you try Rick. He's a real in-your-face beast.
i loved the real bout series...the feeling of impact just felt awesome
It’s almost Terry month bois
Kush Man I did played king of fighters since 2015 I actually mostly played Iori and Terry
Vega: guy with mask, long hair, claw hand, weird pilgrim shoes, is an assassin
Laurence Blood: evil matador, is an assassin
...same... ...character?
This game looks like the old Capcom made it and that is a compliment. 👍🏽
Better than all Capcom games though.
Jin Chonrei stage music dude... it's really good!
This is the best versión of Terry Bogard ever.
I can answer that, SNK is magic and legendary.
I binged Max's "Terry legacy" videos today and I'm shook to my core that Fatal Fury 91 and Real Bout Newcomers were made for *THE SAME FUCKING SYSTEM*. Neo Geo was a god-tier console/arcade
Love the animation in this one
Sure
This is the best Fatal Fury title, I'll always love FF3 but this one is still worth pulling out and showing friends
I don't think I've ever seen this game before and it hit me with nostalgia.
I love how the Power Dunk is a two part attack in this one. Diagonal down A, diagonal up B.
King of fighters, Street fighter, Tekken. These are the kings of fighting games. They are legends
dude the real bout series was lit as hell as a kid and still lit now
I keep forgetting everyone didn't get to play these Neo Geo games at home like I did when I was a kid.
Laurence looks like some type some Matador that accidentally stumbled into a Martial Arts tournament.
That soundtrack tho!
