    Students can have a hard time cutting out shots but the time spent on shots doesn't matter, only the end result. Kill your babies! (that sounds so horrible!) Anybody out there having a hard time with this too?

      One of the most important and effective tips I got from you about 5 years ago and I got so many benefits from doing it! So Thank you very much JD!

    i was wondering if having multiple versions of you reel, in terms of shot order or even shots themselves, would help fit the studios that you are sending them to?
    BTW appreciate all the amazing content, makes our lives a whole lot easier

      Subuhan D S Thanks for the kind words!! And yes, I would definitely have different reels for different companies. Big differences between feature anim, VFX and games.

      @@jeandenishaas so do you suggest as a recent graduate to upload multiple versions of your reel to Vimeo and your website or just sent specific offline versions to the studios that you are applying to.

    • @jeandenishaas
      @jeandenishaas  5 лет назад +1

      Subuhan D S Depends what you want people to see and what your priority is. Your landing page should have on it what you really want to do. And then pages or tabs or scrolling down to see other reels. Hope that makes sense.

    hey thanks for theses videos, they are really helpful, there's a lot of details you speak about that I never thought when editing my shots.
    I'm good for rework a lot of thing now haha
    do you thinks it's ok to show a bunch shorts shots, to point the adaptation of animation style you can have (and the diversity of TV show you've work on) more than the qualitie of the animation itself ?

    • @jeandenishaas
      @jeandenishaas  5 лет назад

      Kerrad Just to make sure I understood the question: do you mean is it okay to have a lot of short shots or shots from a short on your reel?

    • @Kerradia
      @Kerradia 5 лет назад +1

      @@jeandenishaas a lot of short shots ^^

      @jeandenishaas  5 лет назад +1

      Kerrad Hahaha okay, yeah, lots of short shots is okay as long as each one shows something new.

    May I use your face as an animation reference?? I am thinking about making some decent facial animations to get my portfolio ready for uni.

    Hey man! Thank you for the great video! But something's been nagging at me - why do professional animators who've worked on big projects, like for Disney or Pixar, don't put any of the shots they worked on for those movies on their reel?

    • @jeandenishaas
      @jeandenishaas  5 лет назад

      Hélène Vendryes It depends. Technically you need permission from the company to put reels online. So either they never got permission or they are not looking for another job so they don’t have to put their reel online?
