A few weeks of listening to kids and tourists messing around with it might change your mind. It's one thing for it to be used to play music. It's something different when it is boredom relief. There's only so many times you can hear 'chopsticks' before it becomes painful.
I was in a hotel in Chicago and I was playing the piano in the lobby…within 30 seconds I was stopped by one of the employees. I said “It’s not furniture, it’s an instrument.” I’m always jealous of Brendan in these places because in the US, I’ve been stopped from playing at almost every piano I touch. It’s like we’re allergic to the use of public pianos.

That piano lost its virginity to one of the greatest songs ever. And sadly for some time after, it will be the only love ❤️ it will have for a while, or ever. 😢 Do not despair.
All those years this abandoned piano has been waiting patiently for you, knowing that one day she would be set free. On behalf of all the abandoned and waiting piano’s, many many thanks ❤
Brendan your piano performing skills are extraordinary I loved the way all the classical pieces blended together started with the Hamlet theme from a cigar advert that used to be shown on television in the UK in the 1970's Claire De Lune and Greensleeves plus a few others The staircase was used in the Spice Girls video Wannabee . The hotel is called The Midland Hotel and its next door to King's Cross and St Pancreas Station in London. Have you thought of releasing a CD like Terry Miles ?
@@TheloniousCube Yes my older sister used to play it all the time when she practiced classical music at the Royal Collage of Music in the 1960's Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy she practiced the piece at home all the time and it drove me mad because whenever she made a mistake she would start all over again.
If only talented people would play that piano, I'm sure it would keep the posh vibe they are trying to put forth! But that would be a bit of a tricky sign to compose! 😂
We have them in the Netherlands, it says 'only for advanced player' or 'alleen voor gevorderde pianisten' in Dutch. I encountered one last week. It was played beautifully by an elderly gentleman. He invited me to play a bit but I was so nervous I got stuck halfway each song although I know them well enough. Not a fan of that kind of signs though. An advanced pianist at a piano is great, but I prefer a more kid-friendly approach. It so nice to see young children play.
What is the point of having a piano in a Hotel if you can't play it ? Perhaps the staircase is also for decorative purposes only. I'm sorry Sir but you can't go up there !
@@rebeccasilveous8898 Agreed. My daughter’s high school choir mates banged away on random keys before rehearsal. I found that annoying. Frankly, I’m surprised their director didn’t put a stop to that.
After you said you were going to play the piano "very very softly" I was expecting a full volume boogie woogie performance (that would have been great). Instead, I got this beautiful repertoire of classic pieces. Pretty sure the hotel would pay you to perform like that. Never change, Dr. K!
Acoustics not bad, but we rather over-gilded the Bach lily did we not? I attended the first viewing of the hotel circa 2012, when they had just done the entranceway and first floor. You could see how wonderful it might end up and they have done a fine job. It had previously been destroyed and neglected. Now a fabulous restoration and the bar on the right hand side is a great place to meet before you travel or to collect a visitor from Paris on the way into London. If only they had you to serenade their guests......worth another £100 a night!
Made my morning. Absolute BEAUTIFUL!! 😌💗💕 You're sneaky one, Dr. K, but good on you. I'm so glad that guy seemed to have enjoyed it, and you didn't get in trouble. 😊
I hope you do more of these. Playing piano in interesting new spaces . Great sound in this space....it was so beautiful to hear you play different types of music...❤stunning
Beautiful! This is the first time I've seen you do music other than boogie woogie. Please play more of this. Your music is captivating! Long live the freedom piano!
Yr so clever to play without music. I'm so impressed by the skill of pianists. Just amazes me constantly. So Wish i could play piano...so beautiful 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡❣
Brendan, your fantastic expression completely matches the pompous hotel environment) Forget the notices, you are professional, this instrument is for you to play on it, and make all of us a wonderful day. Good luck, Maestro! ❤❤❤
How beautiful these pieces are you are playing.. pianos are meant for music to come out of them. I love all your piano playing and listen to you every day.
what a wonderful music in this beautiful environment, Brendon! Bach, Passacaglia, Mozart and even a piece from "Mary Poppins"! An acoustic masterpiece in a splendid work of art. Thank you very much!
Beautiful - Air On A G String? and then more Bach, but what? Little Fugue in G? Fur Elise!!!! Lovely!!! And then some improv...really sweet.... Chim-Chim-Cheree?!? Greensleeves.....ending with The Tchaikovski Piano Concerto? Or Grieg? I can never remember. What a lovely improvised medley!!
I think I'm seeing a pattern. I can't play the piano because I don't drink enough coffee. I don't think anyone would get in trouble for playing like that. Someone loves that piano otherwise it would not be in tune. Good choice of music.
The staircase is for decorative purposes only and is not meant to be stepped on.
Genius!

Your piece matches the decor reminiscent of past beauty.
there were like 11 different pieces lol
@takuma359 Yes, and each and everyone of them fit the decore
Acoustics are marvellous. It would make the best concert venue in London no doubt.
Well, you certainly decorate that lovely space with heavenly music!
Excellent musical choices for an excellent piano. Brendan, you certainly did not abuse that piano. Well done.
Brendan - what's wrong with you - I wish you would play more of this stuff - clearly, you have so much talent.
I'm the same, I always enjoy his classical pieces.
Dr K, you have decorated the piano.
Brilliant.

A TRULY LOVELY PERFORMANCE. BRENDAN YOURE SO GIFTED
As much as the boogie woogie is fun i cant stop listening to this
I like when he is playing classic music
This was a wonderful performance and obviously appreciated by all who heard you play, thank you.
Hello Bredan, magnificent music and magical place.Tania
The absolute worst thing a person can do to a piano is to not allow it to be used.
A few weeks of listening to kids and tourists messing around with it might change your mind.
It's one thing for it to be used to play music. It's something different when it is boredom relief. There's only so many times you can hear 'chopsticks' before it becomes painful.
@@pkz420 That's not my point... I say not using a piano is the worst thing for it because it deteriorates more quickly when allowed to remain idle.
OK but its still some one elses property. A car should be driven so can I come round yours and take it for a spin??
@@darrenfalconer3267 You're being absurd.
@@cliffthatcher4574 if it's vintage or highly prized possession then keeping it unused preserves it. Not sure what is obsurd about that

They would have a problem with kids, or adults that abuse the piano.
100% nailed it.
Agree 100%

My goodness your a cheeky fellow Brendan. Good on you!!! Lol
When someone can play the piano like that.....that piano deserves to get played x Well done Brendan x
Playing is best decoration
It sounded in tune to me-for being used only for decoration. Very nice!
the person(s) that films your performances and adventures does such an excellent job. much respect to this great videographer!
Yes. Be respectful of the venue but, absolutely, play, play, play!
Where are you Brendan, that grand piano sounds heavenly. Aaaarr fleur-de-lis. xx
He says at the end. It's the St. Pancras hotel, right next to the station.
It's the Acoustics also.

Dr K, the piano bandit, love it.
I would laugh if Dr K broke out in boogie woogie
NOOOO!! Not here, not now. 😂

The perfect tune to play there as well.
