A MOORSIDE SUITE (Holst) Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Brass Band/Allen

The brass band of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under Prof. Stephen Arthur Allen perform Gustav Holst's A MOORSIDE SUITE (1927) 1. Scherzo 2. Nocturne 3. March as part of Dr. Allen's guest lectureship in June 2018 arranged by Andrew Stone-Fewings (Head of Brass) and Ian Porthouse (Director of Brass Band Studies). It has been 40 years since Andy and Steve were undergrads together at the then Birmingham School of Music and this reunion in the concert hall of the brand new Conservatoire building in its first year of existence was very special. Thanks to the band and all concerned for having helped make it happen. This performance followed a single run-through of the suite as part of Steve's presentation of his Holst research published in the Musical Times (Winter 2017) 'Symphony Within: Rehearing Holst's A MOORSIDE SUITE'.
