This is the only camera that I've modified to this degree. In nearly all other cases, it simply is replacing a body covering that is badly worn. I have one more modification for this camera, and I'll cover that as soon as the parts arrive.
Very good modifications, I love the focusing tab so much. I would love to see more interesting accessories from Pentax as well as 3rd parties, the Pentax 17 is such a fun camera to shoot with. I think Pentax 17 is not designed to accept conventional lens hoods, may be a shorter canonet hood style will work (with a cut out for light meter).
I love how many cool accesories there already are to make this camera more useable and individualistic. I just don't like the price. For that price I'd assume many of the attachments people use should have already been thought about and implemented.
A toilet paper roll would have worked wel for the silicone cutting too. Ijust bought a solid(no slots) hood because the hood I bought like yours blocked the view too much . Mine is perfect for sight, no blocking of view at all . I ordered the remote but will need to make a plug too. I'm going to find a silicone plug for mine or a plastic one. I tried my flash plug off my XT3 but it was too big .Pretty lame it didn't come with one really ! More lame that it didn't come with a self timer built into it ! I don't like that it has so many different textures either so I'm going to match the back to the front soon too. Should have come with a plug, a self timer and matching skins. Also should have come with a threaded shutter button so we didnt have to buy their remote in the first place and so we could use soft releases and cable releases and they could make money on fancy Pentax soft shutter release buttons too ! Do I have to do all their thinking for them ? Enjoyed your video. LarryMac
More and more, I'm starting to think that this was rushed to market. It happens. I also think that maybe there was supposed to be a rear covering, but for various reasons (possibly cost), it was dropped. Once I get the scans back, I'm going to do a general video and talk about using the camera, which mostly has been a positive experience - as it should be with cameras.

Will it be a new grip? 😉I saw PP-Camera (a shop from UK) made a new grip thats bigger and apparently better to hold.

amazing....would a square hood be less obstructive in the view finder?
A square hood might work, although there will be the difficulty of finding the type that will attach correctly.
