How to Replace a Quarter Panel pt1 - Project 240sx

  • Although this wasn't my original intention, this video makes a great guide for any beginner wanting to fix their car and replace a quarter panel.
    I have been looking for these Nissan 240sx S13 parts for what seems like months now, but it was well worth the wait! This abandoned Nissan 240sx was recently picked up in Ohio. After removing the project car from the woods and towed through a creek, it arrived at its final resting place. Unfortunately this crashed 240sx had too much body damage to consider saving it, but the parts will continue to live on in other chassis.

    I spent the last 7 years building this 1990 Nissan 240sx from the ground up by myself. I swapped out the KA24e for a KA24de. Then once more for a RB25det out of a R34 Skyline and couldn't be happier. I have also converted the 240 to right hand drive, (which ended up saving my life!) After installing a few drift parts; such as a hydro E - Brake, and dual rear calipers, welded diff, solid suspension bushings and more, the car handled amazing. Surprisingly this S13 was able to drift and stay sideways perfectly despite the damage that was done to it.

    the nitty gritty is always great to watch but never worry about giving your thought process behind why youre making decisions. its honestly more important overall than footage of drilling and cutting. people in the future willbe extragrateful youve given your thoughts with such detail!

      @luckgrip252 Год назад +2

      I was thinking the same. I do also think that the thought process is very important when it comes to projects that may seem impossible on the first glance. But Mikey is making us understand that everything is possible if you dedicate yourself to it! 🤘🤘

    15:02 Nah man this talking is just what we need. In this era of automotive youtube making projects seem like something easy and fast to do cutting most of the work and thought process out this talking and figuring out thing just brings more life into the video and shows how it is in real non edited world. I know you still do timelapses and cool cuts but you still show the entire proces so people can kinda get what it takes to do some things.

    It really goes to show just how old the manufacturing process for these cars are; the mindset of how they went about putting it all together. If only you could take apart a new Nissan to see all the years of improvement by comparison.
    Also z32's have that same rocker rust from the drain hose problem so be sure to examine that as well when you get a chance.
    Overall glad you got everything and looking forward to the next one.

Not only did i get a nice insurance payout but I was also able to save a lot of money thanks to doing a bunch of the work myself (unfortunately I'm not good enough to save the hood and fender so those were done by professionals lol). I imagine today's seam sealers are better than they were 30+ years ago... at least I hope so.. Perhaps they don't soak up as much moisture as they used to. I mean if you used nothing, then water would just get in the seams directly which also seems bad, so it's kind of a catch 22. I resealed parts of my car awhile back and the product I used was more like silicone. The old stuff on the S13's becomes powder when you grind it off so probably totally different.
    PS: Keep up the explanations.. I like hearing your thought process as you go... without it, it would just be some weird ASMR video that I probably wouldn't watch... 😅
