I love these golden northern lights ♥ I've had this little lantern for many years, it's definitively a great addition to the solo camper gear. Even better if you have a headlamp with warm light, it makes a significant difference when comes the time to relax in your tent. Don't expect a perfect beam, but consider that this is the most practical diffuser you can get.
just received the small version of this that is PERFECT for diffusing light in the tent. It includes a headband clip / carabiner. The total weight is 7 g, and only 3.5 g without the clip if you have a shock cord mod on an NU25, for example. Too light to not seriously consider bringing a diffuser that allows you to hang it In your tent, or corner load it with a low light setting, or red light to use as a night light, or outside to help when working after nightfall. The cord on this can be used to hang without the clip but it positions the lamp at 90 degrees, but with the diffuser that doesn’t really matter either. The main trade offs with the small version are limited surface area, and maybe not as useful outside of the tent flipped upside down to provide lighting when cooking, setting up your tent etc. That being said I just ordered the L version that Hans Kirk shows here. It’s probably the better choice as a lantern that can be used inside and out, and I’m looking forward to comparing it in person. One way or the other I’ll keep one or both for sure. Good find Hans Kirk!
Hi Junker very good, I like to nerd with small details ha ha Mont-Bell makes great products and you have your own shop in US, I have to by outside of EU in Switzerland and pay import tax. Now I will check Mont-Bell webside agin 🇯🇵 Thanks for your feedback 💁
I really enjoyed the video Hans, thank you! I will consider getting one of those. It could be used for other things like a ditty bag. Then at night it transforms into a lantern. You have a very cute dog. My dog is a Parsons Russell Terrier. He likes to hunt and kill small animals. He also likes to chase the cat around the house for exercise.
@@hanskirk-hiking9697 Sadly no. I got off trail March 31st. They closed the Appalachian Trail because of COVID-19 Hysteria. I stayed on as long as I could. They were threatening arrest and heavy fines if anyone remained on trail. I made it to Erwin, Tennessee. About 350 miles. Hopefully it will be reopened in May. I'm considering thru-hiking the Pinhoti Trail to keep my trail legs. It's a 335 mile thru-hike from Flag Mountain, Alabama to the Benton Mackaye Trail in Georgia.
Just ordered the small version. Thanks Hans Kirk!
Hope you are going to like it

Hi Audio - thanks so much 🐶
@@hanskirk-hiking9697 I just placed an order by Montbell, including this lantern and the Versalite rain kit.
Great Montbell rocks 🇯🇵
I feel this has value . Diffused light is restful . Quality tent time at night aids the preparedness for the coming day . Worth the weight
Hi Hoboesque I totally agree 🇩🇰☺️

Hi Joe - thanks very much.... with the low weight it is worth bringing. Are you still on the AT ?

En god kop kaffe i det bedste selskab, ( Vuf ), kræver særdeles godt lys. Sikken en fantastisk lampe.
