Why is saying moist wrong

Back in my days of teaching Science apparently the kids thought saying the word "moist" was somehow wrong and perverted!

There was a girl in my science class who didn't like the word moist, it wasn't cause she views it as sexual or anything she just didn't like how the word sounded, yknow how some people just have certain words that sound strange to them, anyway for the rest of the year the entire class and the teacher would find ways to sneak it into sentences, was very funny
