    Great info, thank you. Regarding the thinner. I would not use the IPA with the retarder. The two will fight with each other. The IPA evaporates quickly that makes the paint dries quicker and the retarder tries to slow down the drying. I just use water with retarder or water with flow improver and that works great.

I recently got an airbrush and noticed that finding airbrush cleaner and airbrush thinner/mediums in physical stores ia a pain in the A here in the southern Sweden. I heard T-röd would work but isn't it extreamly flameable? I've also heard that acetone will work as long as one is careful as it can damage the rubber rings. So I'm trying to find a cleaner so I can finally test my airbrush.

    Have you ever tried Methoxypropanol instead of the classical IPA as part of a CLEANING agent? It's basically the same stuff the (highly effective) Revell Airbrush Cleaner consists of. It's really worth a try. Knocks off many paints way better than IPA already does.

    • @TheAll-InNerd
      @TheAll-InNerd  2 года назад

      I have not I must say! Seems to be quite more expensive than the normal IPA tho, the few I found was almost 10 times the price! But if it’s really potent I can definately see a use for it!

    • @Vegane_Atombombe
      @Vegane_Atombombe 2 года назад +1

      @@TheAll-InNerd Well, as always the price basically heavily depends on where you live. The cheapest stuff you can get here in Germany for cleaning is actually Ethanol labeled as "Brennspiritus". It's nothing else than Ethanol with bittering compounds to make it unbearable due to tax reasons. IPA is WAY MORE EXPENSIVE it's classified as a medical product here and you have to buy it in pharmacies or webshops.

    First, thank you for the video ! Second i have have an honest question: What does the Windex add to the mix? I thought Windex (especially ammonia free) became popular with airbrushing because of the Alcohol. So it seems like you are taking diluted alcohol (Windex) then adding water to dilute it even further, then bringing the concentration back up by adding the IPA. Then the glycol for lube. Does the Windex have some other solvent or detergent that is beneficial? Or could you just mix IPA, distilled water and Glycol to get similar results?

    • @TheAll-InNerd
      @TheAll-InNerd  Год назад

      Hey Curlycall!
      You’re right that the windex doesn’t add that much to the actual cleaning. Sure it does have some cleaning qualities but it’s mainly in the mix so you won’t mistake it for water or any other clear liquid. If you want you could skip it redo the rations a bit. Just make sure you label your cleaner properly! 😁

    • @Ale_giro
      @Ale_giro Год назад

      Use chanteclaire or glassex (both totally without alcohol), use the other stuff (or pink alcohol 99,9%, cheaper!) and results are the same (with chanteclaire for Tamiya acrilic i think it's better!)

    You've made this super easy for us all thank you, my question is why the window cleaner/Windex, and may try using ethanol instead of IPA as it is less toxic and much easier/cheaper to acquire?

    • @TheAll-InNerd
      @TheAll-InNerd  2 года назад

      The window cleaner/windex do have some good qualities for helping with the cleaning but the main purpose is to color the cleaning-liquid so you won’t mistake it for water or other clear liquid. According to the ethanol I can’t say for sure, I’ve tried to find more information about it but I’m no chemist. 😅 They’re both alcohols but Ethanol is a good solvent for polar compounds while Isopropanol is a good solvent for nonpolar compounds.
      Sadly I can’t come up with a better answer, here it seems to be easier to get your hands on Isopropanol. I’ve got mine shipped from Germany through Amazon.

      @@guystjacques5790 Cadmium pigments are traditional pigments of great beauty, permanence and stability. They contain heavy metals and are not biodegradable. Care should be taken in the handling of Cadmium or any other pigment in powder form. Cadmium and Cobalt contained in Artist’ Colors should not be taken internally, and if applied in spray techniques, the use of a protective mask is essential. Used cadmium containers should not be incinerated, because in this process the cadmium compounds revert to a soluble state and produce toxic fumes. They can also get into the sewage system, and for environmental safety it is recommended to discard used cadmium tubes in special containers.

    Hej! Måste fråga. Du säger spolarvätska eller windex(fönsterputs) i videon. Spolarvätska är ju 75 % etanol medan windex inte innehåller etanol överhuvudtaget. Funkar det verkligen med båda? vilken är i så fall bäst. Jag kör med wicked från createx. Fråga två. Sett att en del rekommenderar glycerin även i förtunningen som flow improver. Har ni testat det och i så fall är det ett alternativ? /Tomas.

      Tjenare Tomas!
      Som jag förstått det så är det inte bara rengöringsegenskaperna av spolarvätskan man vill åt utan även färgen för att inte blanda ihop sitt rengöringsmedel med andra klara vätskor. Jag skulle inte tro att det är någon större skillnad på dom två.
      Och jag har inte testat glycerin som flow improver men den ihop med destillerat vatten används ju just för att göra egen flow aid så det borde ju gå! 😁

    How should I thin Vallejo Game and Model. I only own these and Army Painter.

    • @TheAll-InNerd
      @TheAll-InNerd  Год назад +1

      This is how Vallejo answers the question about airbrushing Game and Model-colors:
      Is it possible to airbrush with these colors? Yes, but it depends on the colors. Please consider that Model Air and Premium have been formulated especially for airbrushing, while some colors in Game and Model Color are not suitable for being dispersed in the air.
      Pigments can only cause damage to health in case of inhalation, ingestion or absorption through the skin. Pigments in solvent-based mediums are more likely to be inhaled due to the volatile nature of the medium. If in addition these solvent based colors are used in vaporized systems such as airbrushing, they become truly dangerous to health, and the use of a mask and a protective screen for airbrushing is already part of the legislation in many countries. Acrylic mediums have a low rate of solubility, and are by far safer in airbrushing techniques.
      -----
      And if you still want to try I would thin the colors in the same way as other colors, 50/50 and see if it's good consistency.
