These guys use such sophisticated machinery to get inside the Apple Pencil, meanwhile my boy JerryRig just snaps the thing in half
The full spectrum of the youtoube tech ecosystem is truly a beautiful thing!
Jerry is just an overrated youtuber with cult fanbase. His content is the same, scarch this, bend that, absolutely no insight provided.

Apple Pencil built like a tank missile
Pros:
You can drop it a billion times and it would still work
Cons:
If it doesn't work anymore say goodbye to the $129 in your wallet
And still you can snap it with your bare hands...
@@ebioooor you can get AppleCare but that would not suit your narrative
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu yes the applecare that would bill you $130 for the "repair" of your Apple Pencil (after spending hundreds of dollars a year)
@@RunForPeace-hk1cuyour copium is showing. I’m a multi platform user since the 90s. Love my Apple products, but where do you think it all goes? Also, repair ability by average repair technicians would cost less than Apple care, assuming the product was made well and the consumer takes care of their stuff.
You can tell how much hard work this guy has done by counting the number of Band-Aids on his fingers.
Good to know that iFixit extends the right to repair to their own teardown experts! Who needs overpaid medical professionals?

13 FOOT iPad? No wonder they raised the price!
... the video title.
That’s like 2,5 pigs right?
Or more like 3 wheelbarrows? 🤔
isn't feet the plural of foot? oh you silly americans
what do you mean? The video title is correct. If you want to say 6 foot 5 inches it's 6'5".
Cool, I want one!
What are you on about? Title says 13 inches. Unless they had it as 13' originally and they changed it already?

I wonder what would happen if you would only connect one of the tandem OLED screens. Would be fun to see under the microscope which of them is functioning, the top one or the bottom one.
Ummmm the word “tandem” means more than one component operating together so both panels are operating as one together.
@@SpeedfrkOne If you've watched the video, they said that the screen has 2 separate connectors one for each OLED panel. I get that they are working in "tandem". Hence, I thought what would happen if you disconnect one of the panel.

Apple has to get repairability and backwards compatibility in check
No they don’t have to. I never get any Apple devices repaired because I look after them and had no hardware issues whatsoever over many years. I don’t support BC either - you want to use the latest buy the latest.
@@SpeedfrkOne"I, myself (a sample of one), am the centre of the universe and all of my experiences are universal"
It has nothing to do with taking care of your tech. Defects and issues still occur (there is always a failure rate, with any product, even products with good QC) and by their nature batteries are finite lifespan products. Using any battery powered product daily will inevitably and rather quickly wear down its battery, even if you practice good charging habits. Not all of us want tech to be disposable and needlessly polluting.
Companies improving repairability doesn't negatively affect you at all so I can't say I understand this comment as anything other than trolling. Why else are you wasting your time on iFixIt content if repairability is such an affront to your worldview?
PS. I'm not sure that you understand what backwards compatibility is.
I beg to differ, that asmr was the bestest I've ever come across, and I usually avoid that like the plague, felt it right behind my eyes, think my headphones also sang an ode to joy, so great job! thumbs up
I know it’s not repairable but the way that Apple Pencil is designed is incredible. How the heck did they fit all that tech in there and make it mass manufacturable.
Remember the surface pen? It has a AAAA replaceable battery that could as well be a lithium ion battery. No need to have this in a oen
Eh honestly that has good utility, it means you can just hotswap rechargeable AAAAs so you never need to wait for the thing to charge. great for professionals who might need to use the thing for 9+ hours a day.
@@sootstainedruby1439 it lasts for 1+ years on one battery
Thanks ifixit, you have put me off buying one
Very interesting, good work.
This is always so neat!
I believe you can feel the reinforcing running through the centre of the device under the glass, is it obvious.
Saw one at an apple store, yes it's obvious if you are paying attention to it
Great video.
I wonder if this tandem Oled will be the future of TVs vs regular Oled.
Should be but it won't since Apple had to basically force, Samsung and LG which make most OLED TV's to make this, tandem OLED. Told them current OLED they using in TV not good enuf i.e. burn in, saturation and peak brightness being biggest issues. Definitely has to be most expensive part this iPad since basically sandwhich 2 OLED panels together. No way they could scale that up to 65" TV sizes.
I bet the office was little cold 😂
great job !
Great video
"The many good people at Apple working on repairability?" Ha! I'll believe it when I hear it from Rossmann!
Yeah. True. Too bad the 🐑🐑🐑 still believe the Rotten 🍎 and their marketing BS.
The only green thing in Apple’s mind is $$$, doing it through greenwashing by pretending to care about the planet, all the while making older accessories incompatible with newer devices for the sake of fleecing gullible customers. How else would they be a trillion dollar company. 😂
Rossmann is a jerk 😂
@@davidjacobs6244are you Tim Cook?

It's just too thin for them to put any blocking stuff on-top, they're victims of their own design.
Least violent ifixit video in a while
One thing you gotta give apple credit for is that even tho they hate people opening up their devices, it always looks super clean once you get inside. Idk why they do that if nobody's gonna see it. But it's cool
Because designers have pride in their work.
Other companies only care about cost cutting and beat Apple through lower prices
All Apple devices internally look like artwork and it’s amazing the time / effort / money put into the manufacturing of these devices. This is also why these devices are never cheap and nothing out there comes close from any other manufacturers.
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu that's a misleading narrative apple cuts costs all the time. Butterfly keyboards, removing ports. They also price gouge on storage upgrades and ram. They're a company just like any other, their niche is just making very pretty products that justify a price premium
There is a famous story about Steve Jobs painting the back of a fence with his father even though no-one would see it.
What? If the inside looks like a mess how do you think they could cram all these technologies inside?
Awesome & Thanks :)
Muchas gracias 🇵🇪
I had an Apple Pencil gen 1 that sat in the box for a while (over a year) between purchase and finally using it. When I tried to use it, the battery was completely dead and wouldn't charge at all. It was very frustrating having to buy a new one.
Pull tab sound please. Flossy the best.

This guy is really funny, he's the best!!!!! ❤
We can argue about ipad software, but guess we should admit these new ipads are hardware masterpiece.
It seems that the two battery cells used in the Apple Pencil Pro are identical to those found in the AirPods.
Keep the cost low, abundance supply of inventory

lol this guy has a great sense of humor lol
What is the additional black circle on the camera module? Not the LiDAR Scanner, but the larger one?

You are soooo funny :-). Love your videos!
can you put a screen protector or a case with a built in screen protector on ipad pro screen with nano texture???
i have a M1 ipad pro in a full body supcase. i just got the ipad pro m4 512 cell but i did want the nano screen but unsure about the screen protector effectiveness on it !!!!
Look into how they work on the anti glare steam decks, same nano etch screen finish
I’m hoping the new iPad Air M2 also has these battery pull tabs.
I’m really keen to know!
Requesting for Asus G14 2024 Teardown 🙏🏼
Phone repair guru did a tear, this was much neater.
Great job as always, guys! Happy to see some progress from Apple, the battery should be even easier to repair that what they have but this is miles ahead of previous gens.
I understand that specially tablets are not computers and (most) ppl don't expect them to last for like 10 years, but batteries specially die far quicker than that, specially on a 1 day device.
I hope the next gen is even better, having to heat glue just to replace a battery seems excessive for ordinary people and counter productive for technicians.
But again, great job from iFixit!
While I understand the difficulties in making small electronics like earbuds repairable, the pencil still seems like something you could pretty easily have a battery at the top that could just slide out. I'm sure there are balance considerations or power distribution issues, but it feels like something that needs to happen.
It does not a replaceable battery - are going back to the AA and AAA battery days are we? This would also make the device larger and the cost of the battery would be at least 50% of the device, so where’s the economical advantage?
Honestly, can there be a way to fit all of these features into the pen?
Anyway, I am barely using my Apple Pencil, thinking about selling it.
How do them tiny thin battery's power something so powerful
iPad pro m4 11inch inside look please🙂
Fantastic example of micron precision in manufacturing. No other company even comes close.
My dog really hated the sound of that ultrasonic cutter 😊
He’s welcome.
Bruh that pencil is so packed 😂
I was hoping you would show how they moved the pencil magnets and charging coil over the last generation to fit the camera on the landscape side!
The Apple Pencil having still a Taptic Engine that has the label inside, besides the fact that practically no one is going to see it is insane. Glad Steve's philosophy still lives on.
Does the 512 GB version has 2 NAND flashes ? How the 256 gb and 512 gb memory speeds compare ? It will be great If you create a video...... NO one has yet came with it
I’d be interested in seeing the reverse side of the logic board to see how it connects up with the copper apple logo, doesn’t make sense given the chip is on the top side
I am sorry to ask here, but i can find it anywhere else, could you wonderful guys find a way to make a turtorial or video to open up a -LG Pad 5 10.1- if not its okay. Because im at a lose on how i should get to the charging port and head phone jack port which i have to replace
Thank you
2:21 I wanted them to verify whether this part would fit into the MacBook Pro.
この部品がMacBook Proに入りそうか検証して欲しかったです
4:09 The iPad 10 never had an inductive charging coil on the side lol
Are those four fan coolers?
So what was the repairabilty score on the iPad?
Why are the speakers now round again, like back in the 2020 model?? 🤔🤔
how they fit all that in the pencil? I mean, the construction process... 😵💫
Does anyone know why they printed these full/half or empty circles on the magnets of the pencil?
Probably just a casting mark.
The battery (batteries) are smaller than I thought. Look for some M4-based Macbooks to offer 24 hour battery life.
I have a question - when you guys make replacement logic boards, they have the same M series or A series chip as the original, so where do you get those chips? I'd assume Apple does not just throw those designs out into public space.
It's apple that makes and supplies the boards to ifixt, they ara just distributors.
@@fernandoferraz4146 Why would Apple give logic boards to iFixit? Apple is against 3rd party repair, they would never.
@@fernandoferraz4146 Apple does not supply boards to iFixit. If they did, iFixit would list that as a genuine Apple part.
But does it fold?
Its crazy. Last night I put a new battery in a 10 year old Kindle Paperwhite and had it running again, then I did a flashmod upgrade and case and battery replacement on an iPod. Within 10 years we went from being able to replace parts for kit that would last decades to spending $1000 to rent/lease e-waste.
agreed, the corps are disgraceful as are the governments allowing them to get away with it
2:43 it is not a power management board, it's called a Battery Management System. BMS
Am I missing something the hole left side past the battery is empty space?
That’s where the display controller goes, it is connected to the screen and so leaves a space when the screen is removed. You can just about see it when the screen is being taken off at 0:57.
Thanks
You say the software is amazing to work with? The M4 has way more potential but is hindered by the under featured iPad OS
Any idea what the cellular modem model is in the 5G versions? Hopefully it’s the Qualcomm X70, although it’d be lovely if they leapfrogged the iPhone by going straight to the X75 instead.
X70. Chip ID will be published soon.
Could you upload 4k image on community page? I want to use it on my Ipad.
G oiay ganjia!

Let's say a big thank you to all those shiny new iPads that gave up their lives for teardown and research purposes. U guys shall forever be remembered. 🫶🙏🏽
You: “…Apple’s come a long way.” (Said three band-aids later)
Apple: “Darn right. We never would have thought to place a vital screw under an integrated chip ten years ago. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha, good luck getting that out without f*¿&ing something up. That’s real growth right there, ku-ku-ku!”(said while twisting mustache end with fingers).
My condolences for the ouwie 😢
2:41 why is there so much air on the left side of the battery?
Was there glue shortage this year ? Apple seems to be using not enough glue in the pencil
Next up - Ifixit reports on it's favorite Bandaid brands!!!!
0:22 Can I buy this transmissive film?
If anyone knows, please comment.
The best way Apple allows consumers to 'reduce their carbon footprint' is by making devices & software that are as good to use 5-6 years down the road as they were when you bought them.
Thanks for cursing so I don’t feel bad when I am clumsily trying to fix my electronics and failed miserably 😂
What's the point of repairability score or repair time, everything is serialized it gets zero , i think ease of disassembly is termed as repairability in this video.
Well I don't get why they make it not possible to change the battery to a triple A..
Disagree with all improvement you mentioned
Why i would care about the pull tabs if changing the battery with a genuine one will trigger a warning message
What does it mean " repairable " if modules are paired
What improvement in the pencil over last gen if you cannot put it back together
The iPad battery repairability still sucks because the battery is paired to the motherboard. As is the display and camera units. Automatic 0/10.
the use of glue should equal zero repair ability by default
Irish American accent? Thanks for posting!
what are the 4 fan like parts ?
