I am NOT frontman when Donovan plays drums. When he plays drums, he still sings. I just play so that he could be the frontman more. It goes over really well with the crowd when he can interact with them and stuff. I was playing to a click, and I program them myself. I like to not have to worry about the tempo and can just have fun and put on a show. Vibe off the people's energy. Dude, as a basically lifetime drummer myself this is some of the cleanest live playing I've ever heard. I think I've heard Neil Peart play sloppier. 4:23 was just fucking ridiculous.
Elephantitis (the EP this song is on) holds a dear place in my heart. It is absolutely one of the best compositions in this genre (especially at that time (2012)), and imo, heavily underrated. If you have the chance, check out the whole ep. Only 5 songs, and they are all amazing. I remember being able to see these guys in my early college years, and it was something else. They're fantastic live!
This drummer is Allen Casillas of the band VIS, he tours with Hail the Sun and fills in for drums occasionally through the set so Donny can be a front man as well

I comoletely agree. Being in a band is partially about just jamming with your friends and having fun, but also being good and I saw all of that in this video.
So this particular song is off of their first demo, and believe or not, Donovan would play this live and be the vocalist at the same time. Donovan can't play the demo songs as well as Allen does. Donovan runs a label he is in multiple bands, and age has a lot to do with it. So if they play any demo songs, Allen hops on the seat to make it sound like 2010 again.

He's got a lot of new toys and sound makers on his kit, and the whole kit...including cymbals...have this nice dusky hue to them that'll surely look wicked killer when the stage lights hit them..Peace...
