Guessing it got Cystopra disease common on Lombardy poplar fungal disease. Typically these trees live 15 years but there are some don't get the disease live longer. Poplars arent all bad they have there place there good in big yards for soaking up water and good for screen fast shade also there used to make guitar end and neck blocks.
