Semmy instead looked kind of intimidated by Choi, could only fight with kicks, maybe because not used to ever face such a bigger guy (both taller and heavier) and this might have been the only good reason for a close decision like that
Semi was veteran this time I saw the main match in Seoul him with bada hari. He just unbeatable, Ruthless man... I admire him no.1 mma fighter in k-1.(even fedor cannot beat him physically he just strongest and biggest than any other k-1 fighters) He just really strong.. but as Korean we remember choi the champion of professional korean traditional wrestling-like sumo-so his grappling and ground skill was good. It would be more interesting if they have fought with some ground rules. Anyway I respect both of them they have terrific physique with there heights. They are just too strong that time....
By the way, shouldn't there be a counting of Schilt at 5.14? I saw when Abidi was counted in exactly the same situation - it is turning back after attack.

Choi is Korean, and this fight was in Korea.... Usually that means if Shilt doesn't knock Choi down or out he loses the fight. It's pretty much the same in every country really.

This fight just goes to show that some decisions are made before the fight starts. Unless Schilt KO'd Choi, he was going to lose. Reminds me of Bisping/Hamil @UFC 75 in England. One judge scored the fight 30-27 for Matt Hamill, the other 2 judges were 29-28 for Bisping. Imagine that.

Schilt didn't do much, even his lowkicks were blocked :p he just cannot fight or take control of an opponent if he's not a bunch smaller than him... thats what i think, cuz otherwise he should have easily won here, he is just good in taking advantage of his height and power, he's big and most heavyweight opponents cannot handle that... But besides I don't think you coul say he's a great or technical fighter... But thats my opinion on him

Sure Schilt looks more proportioned being that tall, HMC looks as if he is...a short guy if you don't know and judge by the size of his head!
Semmy schilts threw lot of kicks for sure but it was mostly blocked or on guarded area. he was busy doing all the time but didnt do really much, also choi didnt land much punches either. also in old k-1, judges gave points to low kicks (like musashi always ended up winning in judge), but not anymore. it was a draw at most, probably little edge to semmy imo.
Hong Man Choi can´t believe, that he actually win the fight. Cause he didn´t, It was a Close Fight. The judges clearly gave the fight to him. He wasn´t the one who score more blows, it was clearly Schilt, but... again: bought judges.
there was some home advantage but Schilt didn't land much "blows". he had some low kicks to Choi's legs but he never even came close to rocking him. HMC should have pushed Schilt more like 5:08 to have a clear advantage but he was not aggressive either.
i dont think shilt is really 6'11. I think 6'8 is realistic. It is normal to make fighters taller than they are, but the height difference is more than 10cm here

As far as I know, Hong Man Choi is 7'2" and semmy Schilt is 6'11.5", but Choi definitley looks more than 2.5" taller.
I think Semmy is 6'10. Hongman seems to be 7'2 while Montana Silva may only be 7 feet tall while k1 decided to advertise him as being 7 foot 5
