Cro Cop was a beast and always will be.. despite all the losts in ufc i still idolize him he's my favorite ^^.. i really idolize peter aerts too.. he's my second fav hehe mirko and peter legends!
Very true RegistrationCop. Aerts has always been over looked by the fans. Fighters like Mirco and LeBanner have always been rated by the fans but Aerts rarely gets a mention. Aerts is a far more acomplished fighter than both Mirco and LeBanner. Time has show his fighting spirit, he is a true warrior, and a great guy!
yes i agree with you. i'm shaking my head because i got so many thumbs down from my previous comment. lol. i think crocop is an awesome fighter, but certainly past his prime. this is the life of a fighter. even fedor will have his day.
WTF at 3:35 Peter gets nailed with a headkick and jab! When I first found out my favorite fighter ever fought Peter Aerts ( I am more of an mma guy) I was like wow I thought Aerts would have won. I have known of Peter and his highlights long before I began a Cro Cop fan. So I thought for sure Aerts won. Imagine my suprise watching this and how Cro Cop just picks him apart!
@dss103 Um yes it does. In UFC or most MMA organizations, they do not have any tournaments or anything close to that nature. In a K1 Grand Prix, they have to fight multiple times in one night. Many battle injuries along the way (broken ribs, shattered arm,etc..). These fighters don't fight for the money. If they did, then they got into the wrong profession. These men fight because they want to. It's a passion, not just a job.
@billysue2 Did you just say Fedors grappling is not elite? he's one of the best sambo fighters in the world... Mirko Cro Cop in his days was an elite striker. Here he defeats andy hug, he defeated Remy Bonjasky and Le Banner to name a few. When he went to mma he was so dominant because he was above everyone else in the striking department. He loses now because he's old, doesn't train like he used to and is not as fast as he once was.
I have to agree, Hari is the best right now. Maybe half a decade ago, Aerts would have been better, but at that time Hari would be a teenager. So it will never truly happen. The youth is what gives fighters extra abilities, and the strength to fight... Sure Aerts is still good, but if he was younger and in his prime he would be unstoppable. Look at all of his younger fights, they suggest it.
Overall Aerts was always the better pure thai boxer or kickboxer (though obviously Mirko was better here) but Mirko went a lot further in MMA than Aerts could ever dream of. Both are great fighters in their own right. Aerts looks alot bigger than Crocop naturally i noticed
Problem is with the low purses the talent pool isn't getting deeper, not too mention with only one organization there isn't room to sign too many fighters with the fighting scheme they have now, each fighter would be lucky to get one match a year. As far as globalizing, MMA has been in other countries longer than it has been in North America so although the UFC sells out in some of these places they aren't the first to cross borders.
Dereksag is right... not because on paper mma doesn't have more advantages but because in reality there is so much more money in boxing. The worlds best strikers are boxers. Shane Carwin was going to fight for the heavyweight title... for 15grand to show and double to win! He has a full time job, how can you be the best fighter in the world when you have to train after work? More money = more competition = more talent. Give mma more time to evolve. The ufc holds mma back.
Boxer grapplers? All I know is that Nogueira is a black belt in Judo and BJJ, and BJ Penn is a BJJ black belt, and earned his black belt in only 3 years. That's one of the reasons why he's known as "The Prodigy".
i never said it doesn't have any talent, i just said it's a dying breed. you're right they don't have fighters to sell any pay per views, and that's the problem. they're dying out
mirko had much more explosive punching and kicking and tended to chamber his kicks more than aerts' pure muay thai style. they are just 2 different styles.
Remy can be great, but his recent efforts has given him a bad name, for good reason i feel. Taking the easy way out for the win was hard to watch, i really liked Remy, when he first came into K1 he was great. Now, he fights purely for the money and fame, which would be ok if he at least put the effort into winning through his skills. Yes, LeBanner has never won a K1 GP, since his arm injury from Hoost in 2002? he has never been the same, and that was his chance, he had hoost, was in the bag
@Tokaida did he stop?when was ,,his time"?? i just watched few videos of him there but man that technik combined with such force...thts perfection ...just wow
mirco was technically far better in the earlier days, good combos, kicks, very good foot work and boxing ...., he should just learn from himself when he was younger!
Aerts, hoost, remy is the 3 most acomplished k-1 fightes, both cro cop and lebanner always falled 1 inch from getting the title, i think thats why ppl wants them to win etc, cro cop won 2006gp in mma but i dont think le banner have won any titles yet? I mean big org titles
maybe it'd be harder to be an mma champ than boxing today, boxing has become a dying breed. the people they have in boxing now are their last limbs, chuck has good stand up, and doesn't take people down because it's his belief to try and beat anyone standing up because he knows that's what the fans want to see. other than that, cro cop fucked aerts up in this fight in my opinion.
Being an MMA champ doesn't mean you're better then a K1 champ. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's no good. I'd pay anything to see liddell in his prime fight in K1. At the top of his game Liddell wouldn't last 3 minutes. Nor would silva, Anderson or Wanderlei.
I personally think that Mirko never achieved his full potential, by studiyng his style he never used the thai clinch to deliever devastating knees elbows or dirtyboxing in although it was not allowed in K1 i can understand. But why he didnt in mma i dont know why he didnt use the clinch, takedowns being a monster striker his ground and pound would be devastating and at last he never really used his BJJ making people fear him, I mean think of it the guy up was best so down he would be the best!
Dereksag.. well I disagree with you there! I don't think the UFC is helping at all. They are purposely trying to put other organizations out of business holding a monopoly on North American MMA. Which in turn keeps purses small, stops ranking systems from being in place and allows the company to take advantage of the fighters because they have no where to go. I can't think of one good thing the UFC has done for MMA that another promotion wouldn't have done as well.
yeah, but you don't understand what i'm saying is mma has become a bigger sport, basically. it's more exciting to watch, and it's every aspect of fighting. if you got in a fight and figured it'd just be punches and someone submitted you, then what will you think? mma is more useful in a fight. and you learn more technical shit in mma, making it harder than boxing. you have to learn a lot more things. and you have to have just as much cardio
all i did was speak the truth about mma against boxing, mma is becoming a more exciting and anticipated sport. boxing has a lot of talent, but they don't have near as many big names. they're still living off of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, they're always mentioned in boxing. ALWAYS, and don't say they aren't because you know they are, what greats TODAY will be as "great" as one of them? besides paq and mayweather? just really answer that question.
they put big stars against bums, floyd mayweather has such a good recored because his for like 20-30 fights were no names. every fighter in the ufc has a decent record even when they're not known very well. you don't understand that a mma has more advantages than boxing, and is a lot more technical to learn. nogueira isn't the greatest boxer, but look at his record, he just submits people because he's that good with BJJ. he'll break anyone in boxing with his shitty armbar. same with fedor.
i knew you would mention pacquiao, as i said they're on their last limbs. after these boxers are gone, boxing is just GONE. they'll still have fighters, but who's going to know their name? mma is legal in canada, but ufc events aren't. only in montreal. if it wasn't legal then why do we have places to learn mma?
@doddoso Because they make money doing what they trained for? Also, in an mma fight the mma fighter would simply try and take down the k1 fighter for the simple reason that they would not be able to stand and trade.
no i just stated a fact, it IS more difficult to be an mma champion. boxing having more talent? what are you talking about, boxing covers only one aspect of fighting where as mma covers all of them. did you think about that yet?
and even chuck liddell stated how mayweather wouldn't make it in the ufc, he's like 150 pounds and he'd get taken down and battered easily. why do you think boxers that tried competing in mma get fucked up. it's like a boxer against a kickboxer, lets say a professional boxer against a professional kickboxer, you don't know who will win. i'd give the advantage to the kickboxer for using his legs, look at cro cop he's one of the most dominant mma fighters ever. and he's a kick boxer. ko'd everyone
Yes, but he never beat Hoost himself and I think they fought 4 times. Cro cop is the best all round fighter imo, doing well in K1 kickboxing and MMA. But he's not the best kickboxer.
@CroatianHercegovina The way that Mirko clinched him. I remember when I watched it that I found it impressive of him lifting up Aarts and literally putting his ass in the ropes. That 5:45 quotation is just shitty of me. And yes I rather be amused then moody.
Cro Cop was a beast and always will be..
despite all the losts in ufc i still idolize him he's my favorite ^^..
i really idolize peter aerts too.. he's my second fav hehe
mirko and peter legends!

2 greatest fighters. admire them really!!
watching them fight is very enjoyable, both displaying good technique and sportsmanship
Seriously; Cro Cop beat Aerts and Aerts beat Hoost 3 times (one was a robbery decision to Hoost) but Cro Cop has never beat Hoost
Crocop vs aerts = inteligent clinch, crocop vs hoost = no clinch
Well, Hoost got defeated twice by Bob Sapp...
Cro cop is a beast....he has lost a fight here and there but his kicks are lethal. Would have loved to have seen a cro cop vs bas ruten fight.
two monsters, peter and cro cop, legends
@dss103 Um yes it does. In UFC or most MMA organizations, they do not have any tournaments or anything close to that nature. In a K1 Grand Prix, they have to fight multiple times in one night.
@manne864 He means ground fighting, submissions, etc
@doddoso Also, thicker gloves mean heavier gloves. It's much different throwing a punch with a 12 ounce glove on compared to a 4 ounce one.
Two legends...

@Legendahrvata09
..and what fighting organization are you in?
Two K1 legends here!
Aerts is a 3 time champion and just beat the most dominant k-1 fighter around right now
I love the sidekick that mirko is using. You dont see that often
crocop is such a clean fighter, never cheats like lots of other men do.
and if there is a weak spot he wont go for it
I agree about remy, i dont watch k-1 so much or at all these days, but my favorite was cro cop and andy hug, and since they both have left (rip andy)
aerts was around his peak here in 2001 i wouldnt say he got too much better but crocop definitely improved.
best high-kicker and one of the best left hand in k1,ever:cro cop!!!!!!!!!!
@adairbritton It proves who is the best on that day. 6months or even 3 months between fights can change fighters.
Dereksag is right... not because on paper mma doesn't have more advantages but because in reality there is so much more money in boxing. The worlds best strikers are boxers. you are right about that mirco is only 6ft tall but size doesn't matter
i never said it doesn't have any talent, i just said it's a dying breed. you're right they don't have fighters to sell any pay per views, and that's the problem. they're dying out

Yes, LeBanner has never won a K1 GP, since his arm injury from Hoost in 2002? he has never been the same, and that was his chance, he had hoost, was in the bag
Im a cro cop fan forever and ill support him no matter what but...I REALLY wish he would strike and fight like this now.

@JD12111211 is cro cops mom still alive? cause somethings wrong with cro cop lately.
@Rodrigz27 they're both good friends in real life and in the ring.
everyone knows cro-cop fighting style thats the reason why he lose so often he need to change something, but anyway, my vote for cro-cop
Mirko Cro Cop vs Stefan Leko? they both have strong legs
Cyril Abidi vs Chuck Liddell? I really don't know
are this guys twins? Cant see the diffrent between them!
i think kickboxing is better then regular mma
@MegaMakedonski aerts is far from destroyed, he still competes and does well
crocop vs aerts MMA Rematch?:)
that move @ 5:45 made me lmfao
CROCOP 1996-2003 AMAZING FIGHTER
2 great men and great fighters!
greetings
@Dereksag14 In the US a UFC title is more important then K-1 GP title !!!
@kingangis999 But everywhere else in the world, a K-1 GP title is 3x more important than a silly UFC title.
Besides, they're different sports...
aerts always been suspect with the punch straight down the middle, leko and abidi both knocked him out with it
crocop use to be good until gonzaga ruined him. never been the same fighter after that
LOL, i also like Cro, but this one isn't his best fight... at least, he never did so many grabs before...
Dereksag.. well I disagree with you there!
2;37 fuckin badass kick went through his guard thats the power mirko has!!!
that is a natural weak spot not a weak spot caused by an injury
Can't believe Crocop now gets KOed by the likes of Frank Mir.
Cro Cop era muito rápido !!!
love the side kick! way under used imo
too many hugs from aerts
Those hugs were allowed back then...its how they knee you in the head if you dont hug.
Both are great but neither compare to Aerts.
yeah, but you don't understand what i'm saying is mma has become a bigger sport, basically. it's more exciting to watch, and it's every aspect of fighting. if you got in a fight and figured it'd just be punches and someone submitted you, then what will you think? mma is more useful in a fight. and you learn more technical shit in mma, making it harder than boxing. you have to learn a lot more things. and you have to have just as much cardio
peter aerts and jerome lebanner have the same haircut lol
Oh yeah, and that's why the top mma heavyweights are russian, and ufc welterweight is canadian.
yes he did. my comments is right here.
it's funny how they're saying peter aerts is so good, but hey! look what just happened, he was beaten by an mma fighter.
3:36 holy fuck ! cro cop has the best legs in history
peter's headkick is way stronger than micro's side kick
all i did was speak the truth about mma against boxing, mma is becoming a more exciting and anticipated sport. boxing has a lot of talent, but they don't have near as many big names. they're still living off of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, they're always mentioned in boxing. ALWAYS, and don't say they aren't because you know they are, what greats TODAY will be as "great" as one of them? besides paq and mayweather? just really answer that question.
Aerts seemed to be a bit slow in this fight.
Oh come on.... Fedor or Cro cop in their prime would kill Aerts in his prime.
I miss Mirko... :(
they put big stars against bums, floyd mayweather has such a good recored because his for like 20-30 fights were no names. every fighter in the ufc has a decent record even when they're not known very well. you don't understand that a mma has more advantages than boxing, and is a lot more technical to learn. nogueira isn't the greatest boxer, but look at his record, he just submits people because he's that good with BJJ. he'll break anyone in boxing with his shitty armbar. same with fedor.
and he didnt even get a ko, imagine his ability to catch the blow...
@ChubberGlump you forget the 20 (T) Kos ...
i knew you would mention pacquiao, as i said they're on their last limbs. after these boxers are gone, boxing is just GONE. they'll still have fighters, but who's going to know their name? mma is legal in canada, but ufc events aren't. only in montreal. if it wasn't legal then why do we have places to learn mma?

What a head in Arts
he's not 6, he's 6'2"
Well, maybe because Aerts had a bad match?
As you know, Peter Aerts is 2 times k1 champion, and what has Crocop achieved?
@CroatianHercegovina The way that Mirko clinched him. I remember when I watched it that I found it impressive of him lifting up Aarts and literally putting his ass in the ropes. That 5:45 quotation is just shitty of me. And yes I rather be amused then moody.
Did Aerts just kiss Cro-cop at 04:16 ? lol
Sorry wrong comment
awesome
Good fight.
bad matchup for aerts. not too many people have done that to him.
