    I just wanted to give a huge thank you. I litterally searched all day yesterday looking at videos and nothing helped. Yours was extremely well done and ACTUALLY helped me. I'm already on a hardcore budget with this litterally used old wood laying around and a green sheet from Walmart but hey it's working lol. Just couldn't nail the lighting correctly. But that light shining on the wall solved all my problems. Thanks!

    Great video man! I currently have a soft box used to light my face which works really well, only issue is it also lights the background quite a bit diffusing any colored led lights I add (have only tried a 10w flood light so far). In terms of space, I have roughly 1 meter between myself and the wall behind me. Any suggestions would be good to hear! Thanks and keep it up!

    Great video and advice. Would you suggest soft boxes fro those Newer LED lights? Also, what are your thoughts on Ring Lights? I have a popular audio podcast and I'm ready to start getting into a little live streaming on RUclips and recording some solo videos (such as yours).

    • @ToeKneeRad
      @ToeKneeRad  4 года назад

      Hey! These lights do not need soft boxes. They are dimmable, and come with a frosted diffusion that acts like a soft box.
      Ring lights are great. They are budget friendly and are easy to set up. If you are just going to be doing basic vlogs, I would suggest the ring light. If you are thinking of doing a podcast-style video like Joe Rogan, I would suggest the 1x1 LED lights, because they are able to still be useful at a distance, and come with a stand that can be extended to about 7 feet.

    Thank you for this concise, informative, tutorial. I've been doing live stream performances for my clients since COVID-19, and although I've got a killer audio quality setup, my greenscreen could improve. It's not awful, but I have no way to iron a 10x12 fabric green screen and my lighting is not right. So mostly, I'm getting shimmer around my hair and part of my keyboard. I currently have a large ring light which I was putting in no particular place - just seeing what looked better, on the right side of the room, and on the left, near the window, I have a standing lamp. I'm getting ready to pull the triggering some of your suggestions, particularly the Neewer lights (which is the brand of my ring). So - would I put the ring light *behind* my webcam, and the other two on each side? Thank you so much! :)

    • @ToeKneeRad
      @ToeKneeRad  3 года назад

      Yes the ring light pointed at you, and the other two lights evenly lighting the green screen would definitely work! If you continue to have the issue around yourself, it means you need more light on yourself. A desk lamp with a white light beside your set up would do fine :)

    just watched the video all the way through. I really do appreciate the lighting tips. I don't have near as much green spill on myself as I used to. I do have a question though, how can I get a nice looking light in the background, let's say Red for example? I have some pics to send if I have to. I just want to nail it down but no matter what I do, my background lights always end up overpowering my lights or my lights overpower the background. I can't seem to find the right balance

    Thanks for this thorough tutorial! I'm lighting a very wide backdrop as I am doing dance videos. My backdrop is 20 ft wide. How many lights would you recommend to get even lighting on the green screen?

    • @ToeKneeRad
      @ToeKneeRad  3 года назад +1

      Hey! Good question. The lights that I have in the video would certainly help with your backdrop, but you might need more than two.
      I looked at your most recent video, your green screen quality is very good! It looks as though you understand the fundamentals of lighting your green screen already, so adding a little bit of extra white light shouldn't be a problem. The only thing I noticed is that when the young girl's hands raised, her shadow appeared on the green screen. This is due to the light source not being high enough, or able to light the green screen when someone is moving around. (Someone's shadow on a green screen makes the green a different color) The way to combat that is to hang lights higher, or put lights closer on both the left and rights sides.

    Is there a reason to have rgb lights if you're using a green screen besides for the aesthetic value? Any chance you would pull up one of my streams and advise me what my next lighting purchase should be?

    • @ToeKneeRad
      @ToeKneeRad  3 года назад

      RGB lights are purely aesthetic! I work on commercials where we light green screens with green light, but that is advanced and not necessary.
      Your green screen looks good. It's consistent and I didn't see much distortion at all. Good quality overall! If you decide to get new lights, I would suggest the Neewer lights I had in the video. They would be the next step up for you. I use them for my stream and for work, they are great for the price. You can find the link in the description of my video.
