I believe the sonar is actually ultrasonic

I am new to autonomous vehicle system and I was looking for such a technical intro and your's was the only one I could find. Thanks for the video. Where is the 'attached memo' which is mentioned towards the end in the video?

That's a great explanation. ... But the sad thing is I don't find any other video expect this in your channel... Are you fine!

quick detail ... Tesla aims for driver assist tech whereas Ford has a closer approach to fully autonomus ... that is the main reason why the sensing & computer power is so greatly different

The hardware requirements for level 4 (fully autonomous in most situations) and level 5 (fully autonomous) autonomy are more or less equivalent. Tesla have said that their vehicles are level 4 capable with only software updates necessary to get them there.

Although, that does require trusting what Tesla says about its vehicles' capabilities...

@@robinsevers4588They have been conservative about capabilities in the past.

Tesla has never said they aim for driver assist and their development of their own hardware shows they are serious. A fleet of self-driving cars has been part of their business plans for a decade. They specifically rely on cameras so that they can have a all-around solution that will mimic human capabilities when dealing with edge-cases when fully automatic.

@@robinsevers4588 I've been working with Autonomous Driving for more than 6 years.
Tesla's solution cannot provide the amount of redundancy required for a level 4 or level 5 vehicle.
This is why Musk usually chooses to avoid answering this question.

Safe autonomous driving simply impossible without a relatively high level of intelligence which has to be self training, You cannot just detect lines to keep it safe you need to keep context in mind which country you are in, which road it is what is current speed and weather conditions.
Autonomous driving cannot be separated from intelligence. It is part of the same problem.

If Lidar means laser radar... Why isn't it called Ladar? Would make more sense compared to Radar. Just change 1 letter. Sounds better too.

jve89 LiDAR = Light Detection And Ranging. RaDAR = Radio Detection And Ranging
