Ok, back to the original notes from this video! This is by far the MOST requested topic I've had officiants ask me about!
Well, here it is - the announcement I make before EVERY ceremony.
My VIBE SETTING ANNOUNCEMENT!
I was put onto this by another officiant in Australia (he's a legend) then I added my own spin on it to match my personality and what I felt was relevant.
I do this announcement solo at the beginning of every ceremony because it sets the tone right out of the gates and it lets the guests know we're here to have FUN and to CELEBRATE! This isn't snooze-time folks, you've been invited here to celebrate, so let's do that! I do everything with intention in my ceremonies, and this one serves a big purpose.
There's a good chance the guests have never seen an officiant do this, and that's why they're going to remember it and be excited by it!
Take this and make it your own, but whatever you do, don't memorize this and try to pitch it. It likely won't land. Once you've rewritten it into your own words and figured out how to deliver it, own it. It'll be amazing.
Here are a few things to know about this announcement:
1. I do this at the beginning of the ceremony BEFORE anyone in the wedding party has walked down the aisle.
2. I always confirm this with the DJ and coordinator who may be cueing the wedding party so they don't send people early/they turn off the music so I can speak.
3. I don't read this announcement, I wing it every time (but it has a similar feel). I sometimes will add things like calling out specific people I spoke to before the ceremony or had a laugh with. It feels way more authentic and like a real invitation to be present and celebrate if you don't read it.
4. Have some fun with it. Guests are looking for someone to capture their attention and they want to celebrate. So give them a good reason to by livening up the beginning of the ceremony.
I use my own gear for every ceremony also. If you're going pro, I highly recommend getting your own gear to be in control of the most important variable in your success - your audio! If no one can hear you or if the mic cuts in and out it doesn't matter how awesome you are, no one will hear it!
I use the Bose S1 Pro Speaker and the Sennheiser AVX-835 Mic. It's entirely wireless, and produces incredible sound. Best part? It fits into a Bose backpack so I'm ready to go at any time, in any location.
And last, let me know how it goes! I'd love to hear how it's working out and any changes you've made to it! Now get out there and crush that ceremony and have the time of your life doing it!

I’m doing my first wedding event this Saturday for my aunts who are getting married and let me tell you this short video just helped me soooooo much! Love love love
Hold on a sec, that means the wedding JUST happened!! How did it gooo?!
@@heyjeffmaeck It was intense to say the least but your tips definitely helped and we had a great time!
Thanks Jeff! The videos are the key to me to get my first wedding underway. So much useful information and you have helped me create a goal and drop the nervousness. Keep up the good work! Eternally Grateful! Mike from Columbus
Mike, appreciate you, man! Thanks for the message and encouragement! Let me know how the first one goes, happy to help however I can! Anything else you think we should create that would be helpful?
This is awesome! Thank you for this and for the full walk through
I'm officiating 5 weddings out of nowhere! So this will be a big help!
Mike that's awesome!! 5 weddings coming up?! Man that's so good, you're going to crush them! Hope you have a blast!
mr jeff you look so good like all americans
haha! I'm Canadian :) But thank you ❤
Love this, Jeff! I'm going to do a wedding with both English and Spanish speakers soon, so would need to keep it short so that I don't potentially lose half the audience. Keep up the great work!
This is AWESOME!! And great idea! I sometimes add some Spanish to the beginning as well if there are Spanish-speaking guests, it helps them feel way more welcome :) Thanks for following along!
He raise the energy 🎉
@@Digitalwizardy you got it 🙌🏼 bringing back the celebratory vibe to ceremonies one wedding at a time ✌🏼
This is awesome. Are you in Canada Jeff. I was a Corporate Master of Ceremony in Nigeria. I just came to Canada, I hope to learn how the industry works here, as I intend to use it as an extra source of income.
@@thetrailblazingglory 100%, I’m just west of Toronto! Would love to follow your journey, I’m @heyjeffmaeck on Instagram!
This is great, thank you Jeff! I'm officiating my big sister's wedding soon and this is absolutely what I needed.
That's AWESOME!! Man, you're going to have so much fun! Good luck up there, I know you're going to crush it (and have so much fun!).
So Canadian. Gotta be Canadian... I'm originally from Canada, but now American. All good. Just the first thing I noticed. Cute.
hahahahaha! Nailed it. I'm in Kitchener, just west of Toronto. Dying to know what gave it away though. Tell meeee! Hope you're great, and thanks for the message!
"Five redbulls deep"
❄️
That’s a conservative estimate 😬😂
Thank you! You're a natural bro! I'm trying to decide on the attire and I'd love your opinion. What do you think of the double breasted black tuxedo from Spier & Mackay? It's a black tie wedding and I'm officiating😊 Thanks!
Dude I'm so happy these are helpful! Very funny timing about the double breasted jacket. I actually just went to get fitted for a double breasted suit at my local place after meeting a slick Montreal DJ who killllled it in one. Here's what my suit guy said: he said "because I like to walk around while I perform a ceremony and am a bit more dynamic with movements, it wouldn't be an awesome choice (for me) because you have to keep it buttoned up the entire time (my jackets are almost always unbuttoned, and they're not designed to be unbuttoned.)" So, take that for what's worth haha the look is a 10/10, a double breasted tux like the one you mentioned would be a bit too formal for the majority of the weddings in my area (I was looking at a double breasted suit), so just keep in mind the type of weddings you're performing. You'll look like a hero in it guaranteed, but if everyone else is wearing suits, you'll stand out quite a bit. If all your weddings are black tie/ultra formal, then do it up for sure because it's such a cool look!
@@heyjeffmaeck that's hilarious man! I'm glad we have the same taste. You will easily rock that suit for sure! Thanks for the insights man. Super helpful! It's definitely a black tie wedding. I hope the guests will stick to the attire. At this point I should just consult with the bride and groom and see what their opinion is. Cheers dude!
I am nervous Jeff I have mine tomorrow officiating
How did it go, I'm nervous too I need to give an introductory speech and just have a list of people from my family to introduce, I don't know what to say
