Original Video:
• Stranglehold - Ted Nug...
For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Ted Nugent with his performance of "Stranglehold" on the Midnight Special. I have never seen him perform live but now I see why they call him "The Motor City Madman." He was wild as can be and basically ripping a guitar solo for the entire tune! He's such a killer guitar player and I can't wait to see more live footage of him playing! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #tednugent #stranglehold #guitarsolo #guitarist #musician #musicreactions

Uncle Ted was bringing it! What should we check out next from him?!
Singer is Derek St. Holmes
That's Kurt Russell, you can't fool me.
He's such a fantastic dude.....
Singer in this line up is Charlie Huhn, Derek St.Holmes is on the studio track. Charlie sang for Foghat after Lonesome Dave left us. I saw Ted many times long ago. Yes, loud. Yes, incredible.
Appreciate the info! I bet he brings the house down at his concerts! Everyone keeps saying that their ears were ringing for days after the show! 🤣
Seen him live the first time in 1977 by far the most energetic and entertaining performer I have ever seen. Absolute guitar wiz easily in the top 10 all time
Derek St. Holmes sings some , Ted sings some , one early album Meatloaf sang 4 or 5 songs on it
Oh wow!
Saw Ted Nugenr & The Amboy Dukes in 71 . Survival Of The Fittest Tour at a small movie theater on Thibideaux, Louisiana. My ears are still ringing. It was Papa's Will.
🤣 I bet it was epic
I saw Ted around the same time as this video, and he was quite true to his “Detroit Madman” nickname.
Unquestionably the LOUDEST concert I’ve ever attended. I think my ears are still ringing from that show. 🎸
✌🏼😎🇺🇸
Haha 🤣 I’ve heard that from a few people! Uncle Ted out here busting ear drums!
Uncle Ted!🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
🤘🔥🤘
I saw him in merrivile indiana and during show they had a huge wood figure that looked like saddam hussein and Ted shot arrows at it at one point during the show. Wtf
What?!? 🤣
i seen him in concert 3 times it was crazy lol awesome energy
So awesome! Thanks for sharing and dropping by the channel! Uncle Ted bringing that 🔥 🔥
yes Please do CAT SCRATCH FEVER LIVE from the Midnight Special as ted sings another great performance !!
Oh sweet! Definitely have to check that out! Uncle Ted is wild with it! 🔥
seen Ted live a few times. Loud as F! Always put on a fun, high energy performance.
I bet it was intense!
saw him live -he's a real rocket of energy!
Sweaty Teddy never disappoints, I remember hearing Nugent coming from my older brothers bedroom back in the day, at 10 years old I was like wtf is that? Double Live Gonzo is one of the greatest live albums ever, I would check out 'Great white buffalo' from that album the next time you feel the need for some Ted.
Thanks so much! He is definitely an incredible talent and I can’t wait to dig into his catalogue some more!
I've seen Uncle Ted numerous times, the best concerts were at COBO ARENA in Detroit.
I bet it is a wild show for sure! Thanks for swinging by and sharing!
Saw him open for Aerosmith! Talk about a good concert!!
Bet it was killer!
Love me some Uncle Ted from my home state Michigan!! You should do free for all which is another song from the midnight special I don’t believe it’s this episode, but there is one out there and if not check out the song come again when he was with the damn Yankees and the damn Yankees consist of Tommy Shaw, jack blades Ted Nugent and I forget the drummers name
I’ll have to check it out!
Saw him a couple of times in Kzoo! His energy was off the charts 🥰
Saw this the night this aired! About 9 or 10 of us in the basement 70s style. We hadn't seen him yet and this got us out to be sure to be on the lookout for his next show! Within a 125 mile radius lol!🔥🤘🎶✌
🤣 that’s awesome!
To really get an idea of just how good the drummer is, listen to Stormtroopin'. Also, Hey Baby is another good one. We could go on for days... Just What The Doctor Ordered, Snakeskin Cowboys, etc etc etc. Have fun! Ted's a rock maniac!!
Sweet, thanks for the suggestions!
Saw Ted in concert 1988 in Orlando. he definitely knew how to put on a great show!
I believe it!
I didn't realize there was a different singer in this tune. Did Ted do that a lot? I know he sings most of his songs, right? I'm questioning my sanity right now. That aside - this was a WILD performance. I've heard some of his live audio from "Double Live Gonzo", with the infamous album cover of Ted on stage. It's epic!! Shame on me for never watching Ted in action. It's 2024 and the internet has been around for a while. That's why I need reaction channels in my life.
Thanks to the supporter who recommended this and thanks Steven for another awesome reaction! That must've been a helluva night with that line up. Oh my! I know what I'm doing right after this. And brother, if you can play like Ted, I guess it's ok to walk around in tights with your junk out, suspenders and a tail. Motor City Madman!! 🤘🤘
Glad you enjoyed this one, it was fun!
Yeah Ted eventually took over all the vocals himself. I've seen him live so many times being from Michigan and he always puts on a killer show. I think Ted is the most underrated guitar player ever!
@@setonhillstudios I thoroughly enjoyed that sucker!! Man he can play that guitar! And sing! Wang Dang Sweet Poontang live off Double Live Gonzo, audio only, as far as I know. Definition of rock and roll. I wish there was video from that show. Killer song!!
@@randycomerford2038 He F***ing kicks ass!!
3 times solo, 1 with damn Yankees
Ted actually did his vocals after him and Derek split. I saw him in Hotlana and what a show.
Oh cool! Yeah I heard he puts on a wild show! Thanks for sharing!
Thats Teds scream so yes he can sing too. Just a guitar player he says over and over but as you can see he is so much more.
Definitely!
You should check out The Damn Yankees. 90s band consisting of Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw from Styx, Jack Blades from Night Ranger and Michael Cartellone. "Come Again" is a good song to start with.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Omg!! Uncle Ted!!! Always a favorite and this is a favorite song of his!
For quite awhile he played in a loincloth...lol Jumping off amps, riding buffalos, target shooting with bow and arrows, def a mad man. On the guitar side he plays a Gibson Byrdland, hollowbody guitar, the fact he can play at that volume and control the feed back in a hollow body is a major feat in itself, you should check out Hibernation off of Double Live Gonzo to hear him play that feed back, beautiful instrumental. And I think he still holds a record or two for loudest show at a venue and noise complaint form miles away..lol
That’s crazy!
We played this song at our highschool talent show back in the day (drummer) the hi-hat was work was mystical to people lol as was the flanger bass, got disqualified because the singer said bitch. Saw him at the Texxas Jam.
Haha 🤣 Thanks for sharing the memory! Love hearing those stories! Have a great one!
He was good, back in the days.
What's changed?
Love Uncle Ted and was lucky enough to see him a few times. Never disappointed!
I guarantee it! Appreciate you sharing and thanks for hanging out!
I think he's been married for something like 45 years
That’s awesome!
You can not imagine how LOUD Ted Nugent concerts used to be.
My ears are still ringing to this day.
😂🤣 Shewee! Uncle Ted out here busting eardrums!
Uncle Ted did in fact sing & play guitar try " Wang Dang Sweet Poon Tang" off of " Double Live Gonzo" & get the message he had for people " That wanna get mellow"😂
Just wild song names! 🤣
Nice one man ☘️🇺🇲
Thanks glad you enjoyed!
Uncle Ted, a great patriot.
Such an insane talent! Loved this performance!
Oh yeah, a great patriot after he got out of the draft(check his Wikipedia page)disgusting 🤮🤮🤮
@@rubroken No clue about any of that…..just digging this performance and he’s a great guitar player 🤘🏻
@@setonhillstudios The first commenter called him a great patriot. I was responding to that. He did a couple of magazine interviews in the late 70's where he described what he did to avoid the draft. Public draft records list him as 1s(school deferment),then 1a, then after his appearance at the draft board, 1y(eligible only in time of war) which was changed to 4f(unfit for military service). That's no "patriot" and he can play like Jimi Hendrix(which he can't) and I still won't consider him as either a patriot or guitar player
First, I love you. Your reactions are top notch and I've been a sub for a long time! Second, Ted Nugent can do wrong. Third, I think you should give Lacuna Coil - In The Mean Time ft. Ash Costello a shot. Without giving too much away, it's a song about our fractured society but I don't want to say anything other than that. Thank you for considering.
Thanks so much, glad you’re enjoying the videos! I’ll have to check them out!
I’ve seen sweaty Teddy a bunch of times sometimes with Deric St Holmes and sometimes Ted would sing. The shows were 200% better with Derick singing. Got to check out Dam Yankees you will enjoy.
I’ll have to check them out!
Yes, he can play, and yet to this day, his is not in the R&R Hall of Fame because of his conservative political views. I saw him in the late 80's at the Fox in Atlanta and I couldn't hear for a week!
He's not just conservative, he's nuts. Crazy. Out of his mind. Like, if you don't kill your own meat you're immoral, nuts.
" Stranglehold" is about Ted's relationship with the Music Biz,Art is the enemy of Commerce but in a binary World of Consumerism it's a necessary evil, however Artists are the conservators of Culture, innovators, pervaiers of of other Artists hence copyright & publishing laws, many recording Artists have gotten had by not educating themselves & not realizing what they are signing up for
Ah ok, thanks for the insight!
And Ted will never get the HOF nod….because of his political beliefs…..F That….look at this guy
He’s such a killer musician!! They should leave politics out of the Hall Of Fame and base it on musical talent and merit. Thanks for swinging by and have a great one!
