I replaced the front 16T sprocket with a 17T sprocket. They are about $20 on Amazon and it completely transformed how the bike rides! Now feels more comparable to a 500cc bike. I can now easily cruise 75+mph on the interstate and it made all of the lower gears much more useful as well.
Excellent take on it. I bought mine new last summer in 2023. I’ve been very happy with it. It’s not a big bike but it’s plenty big enough. Great review.
I love the little bike. I use to greenlane over Salisbury it's great. I did change the suspension, bars and tyres. I have a 1250 bmw for work but love riding this. Thanks for your thoughts on the bike.
It's hard to imagine you putting 14,500 miles on the original Metzeler Tourance tyres. I put 6000 miles on my G310GS in three years and was pleasantly surprised that they look like they'll be good for 7000 to 8000 miles. I don't commute. I bought the bike for my 60th birthday with the intention to do some motorcycle camping but most of my miles have been day rides of 200 to 400 miles on secondary roads with the occasional gravel or dirt. The three year warranty on my 2019 G310GS expires in a couple of weeks. I never needed it. I've had 6000 trouble free miles so far and I've done all of the routine maintenance per the BMW schedule. I love the little G310GS. It's nearly perfect for my needs and wants. I've done a lot of mods and updates to customize it for my use. My only real con is the 2.9 gallon fuel tank. It should be at least 5 gallons. An adventure bike should have a minimum range of 500 km, or 300 miles. Unfortunately, there is no aftermarket fuel tank to extend the range.
Thanks for the video, I liked watching a video with a regular person who has spent some real time with a bike, rather than a pro riding it for 30 minutes. Also, I would love to see a video about the modifications you have done.
It's great to see some normal ownership review thanks for taking the time to share :) getting harder an harder to find stuff like this amongst all the paid reviews. If you end up repainting the Exhaust check out Wurth Matt Lack spray for the exhaust great stuff an I've used it on a 350lc Yam.
You got 14,000 miles on your original Metzeler Tourance tires? I thought I was doing well to get 8500 miles from mine. I have 8200 miles on my 2019 G310GS and I'm ordering tires this week. I"m getting some 50/50 tires that are more off road capable because I use my G310GS as a lightweight adventure bike. I ride it off road and seldom ride highways. I mostly ride secondary roads. I'll probably get Shinko 804/805 or Kenda Big Block tires. I bought the bike new in October 2020 and paid $4920 out the door, which I thought was a very good price. I do all of the maintenance myself and it's been 100% reliable for the last 3.5 years. I'd get a sore butt after a couple of hours of riding but I don't anymore. I think my backside grew accustomed to the bike or the seat wore in to fit my butt. I installed a woven air cushion sear cover and I stand on the pegs when riding through small towns on longer trips. The generous three year factory warranty expired without ever using it, which was fine by me. My 2019 probably had more of the bugs worked out as compared to buying the first model year. I've made a lot of modifications to the G310GS and have a few more to go. I wish the 310GS had a 450 cc engine for the few times I ride on highways but that's not a big deal to me. It has plenty of power for the riding I do 95+% of the time. My biggest complaint is the 2.9 gallon fuel tank. I wish it had a 5 gallon fuel tank.
Wait.. what? You like my ass?.. sorry not my thing… but I’ve stuck a air flow seat cover on and that’s sorted the sore bum problem. Thanks for watching. 👍😊

Very interesting, I’m thinking of buying one of these just for bimbling around the back lanes on and the occasional long haul. Great video- Thankyou

Thanks for the comment, I have a few ideas that I’d like to video, and for sure, the modifications is one of them. Thanks for watching! 👍
Great review Martin, thanks
Very welcome
We drive our 310 gs for about the same time and in the same conditions, but on opposite sites of the North Sea! Greetings from Belgium!
I have a 2019 that has been lowered 2 inches in the rear and approximately 1” in the front. I am 5’8” with a 30” inseam. Works great for me.
Thanks for the vid, i've also had mine 3 yrs now and have done 28k km, Bmw great on warranty, good to see you enjoy it.

Thanks for the tip. Cheers 👍
Heard you talk about the seat height- I think you can adjust it to be lower. Great review, thanks!
Good reviews and it's a bike I'm considering, to replace my scooter, for my commute in London. Any thoughts on using the GS for that type of use?

Rennies for indigestion
How fare did you get with a tank of fuel
Mate. The way you popped that hip in the photo was luscious. If you have a Greek mate. That could be the cause of the soar bum. Not the. bike
