You called it right. Trac Bars are supposed to have a gap between the snubber and the spring so not to affect the ride. Until you are on the gas. They stop axle wrap under power. :)
had to cut up the old IRS axles on the 1994 thunderbird and hard face them from 1'' to 1-1/4'' to use a 4 link bars on the AAM1150 for it... 30 or 50 pounds of welding rod somewhere in that space. hand forging all the bushing ends out of 1/4'' plate strips and facing them to 5/8'' wall... have a snow fall warning in the aria in 3 days, then its a cold mud floor to work on. surplus oil field welding rod is cheap in the least of things. car had a 7.5 IRS, not even an actual 8.8

I get mine at the factory sale which produce for Dupli Color, Belton, Spava, Auto K, Montana for 2$ each, doesn´t matter what kind of like brake caliper color, engine color, heat resistant color, zinc-alu, primer... just every one.
The Rustoleum stuff normally is decent, as far as rattle cans go. Sounds like you got a bad batch. I like to use their professional high performance stuff with the silver label for anything chassis related. Next best thing is regular Rustoleum by the qt/gallon through a spray gun mixed with catalyst. That stuff is pretty tough.
I would've showered the parts you painted in break cleaner before painting them. All that grime and fat doesn't fully disappear. It looks like you only took most of it of by wire wheeling it, taking of most of it isn't enough. I Sometimes use plain and simple gasoline to clean the oiliest parts before using just a little break cleaner.
The trac bars are installed correctly. You want the bump stop to line up with the eye on the leaf spring. Good work.

The more you shake a rattle can, the better it will work for you. I like Rustoleum.
When it comes to painting parts like that, I like to use that paint at tractor supply. The implement paint. The stuff is tough.
