It could carry about 85 passengers and had a crew of 25 to 30. It could cross the North Atlantic Ocean in about 3 days. How the Hindenburg got off of the ground was the use of hydrogen. Hydrogen is extremely flammable gas. It caught on fire while attempting to land at lake Hurst Pennsylvania. They think that static electricity built up on airframe and when they drop the tie down ropes that most likely caused the static electricity release causing the ship to become on fire.

That was a horrible tragedy.
Airships are pretty cool, and I guess pretty dangerous also.
