Glad to hear from Seth MacFarlane about his process dealing with sensitive topics. Coexistence and hope are at the heart of the show. Also glad to hear him candid about his career looking back. He's a gifted writer and I hope to see more novels/novellas/anything from him as he expands purview.
Congratulations, Seth MacFarlane. The Orville, like Rudolph and Topa, will go down in history.

As a trekker and more as an orvillian, I loved to see Seth MacFarlane talking a little about this masterpiece and the fabulous, brilliant and astonishing 3rd season of The Orville! Is it all or are there other parts?

I dont understand how Topas story can be interpreted as if this is what humans go through. Topa was born a female so she of course would feel like a female even though they tried to change her to be a male shes a biological female and it was cruel to change her. How can that be related to a biological male feeling like they are a female when that is not at all what Topa went through.

it's supposed to represent gender dysphoria, being forced to conform to gender norms and feeling like something is wrong and being unable to figure out what it is until later on.

As a hetero white male I am still able to identify with Topas struggles…. Be careful not to make sexist blanket statements about genders, isn’t that what you want for yourselves?

It's absurd that Star Trek CAN learn some stuff from another show...

"A hetero white..." Wow, I didn't expect racist prejudice here. It's like lauding a black guy for not being criminal. Wait before dropping a shitload on me.
    Think about it, seriously.

It's not prejudice, it's an acknowledgement that seeing things from other people's perspective is an acquired skill, easiest acquired through shared experience, and while heterosexual, cisgender, white men may face various possible setbacks in life for various reasons, systemic prejudice and oppression on basis of gender, sex, sexual orientation or race is not among them, and can therefore easily become a blind spot if one doesn't put the effort in to understanding other people's experiences. It's a matter of context, because it requires an understanding of ones own relative contextual privilege, and that's something that's very easy not to examine.
That's part of why the show is so brilliant in using Moclan cultural norms as an inversion allegory, in some ways. Heterosexuality being used as a metaphor for homosexuality, etc., invites the audience to see things from a perspective they may otherwise not have thought of.

That host rubbed my fur the wrong way. Had to fast forward the questions and just listen to Seth's response

For God's sake, bring back the humor. My only request. Great show otherwise.
