As many of you know, Groot has been owned by Waste Connections since 2017 which has allowed them to bring in equipment from all over. In May 2020 Groot Elgin received 3 of these Mack Heil’s, after sending away 3 Heil Pythons in an effort to get this site 100% front load. They spent about 6 months getting these all refurbished and ready to go, and then from November 2020 to May 2021 they sat, waiting for their registration and plates because the state was so far behind due to Covid. They got these back on the road again about a week before a new contract was set to start the following week, so this might have been this trucks first day back on route. What’s pretty funny is that when Republic still owned the site this truck is from, they had 6 of this exact combo. 4 were sent away and some now reside in Minnesota, but the remaining 2 still run with the swing drivers and the only difference between the Ex-Republic and the Ex-WC trucks is the chrome trim. I’ve always been a fan of these trucks, because they look fantastic and the CNrG system works quite well. The driver here actually just started at Groot not too long ago after coming over from Advanced, so he was already familiar with residential FL and he was a great driver. Towards the end he wanted to show off for the camera and pick up a cart using the arm, which I thought was super cool! I hope you all enjoy the video!
Shoutout to Joe C. and Dan D. for sending me the pictures featured at the beginning!

For those of you unfamiliar with my channel, I document refuse trucks and equipment in my area and wherever I happen to travel.
Wow the before and after of that truck is pretty insane. Can’t believe they were able to make it that good. Wonder how they got rid of the tag axle but looks like a brand new truck. It’s also cool to hear the sound because that is how some of the Mack’s sound down here.
I couldn’t agree more, it sure was rough when it came in haha it’s not welded to the frame so with a few adjustments it’ll come right off. Seeing pictures of it before the repaint reminded me of something that could be seen down by you too. Thanks for watching!
Nice job! Really cool to see the transformation from Waste Connections to Groot. This truck definitely looks pretty sharp and the driver was very fun to watch! Loved the speed of the Curotto too, awesome work!
Thank you! I thought it was cool to see everything come full circle, and the new paint sure does looks sweet too! I’ve always liked how fast Groot keeps their Curottos running too, glad you enjoyed the video!
Didn't realize that Waste Conn. was picked up by Groot.
@@mikeyfromnj Actually it’s the other way around. Waste Connections owns Groot. WC just allowed Groot to repaint the truck in to their colors.
Another great video well done sir!
Thanks man!
Very cool i filmed this one over in Streamwood one day and had suspicions that it was one of the trucks they imported but was not sure until now. Awesome video!
Yeah that’s the contract they brought these in for. Glad you enjoyed it!
Now that's a glow up! Awesome find!
Without a doubt, thank you!
Great video! Anything on Glen Ellen is fun to watch, but those before pictures in WC paint really added something to it! Also loved how you incorporated your infamous music a but different this time! Definitely liked the over filled carts and bulk, that technique for carts is spot on. Nice work!
Thanks, lots of cool trucks to be found there! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Awesome video! This truck is entertaining. Driver operates at a good speed. The lid flips was awesome! And just entertaining to watch, truck sounds pretty good aswell. Great work!
Thanks! I thought the driver put on a great show too, and the lid flips only added to the fun as well. Glad you enjoyed it!
They did a great job restoring all three LEUs! I assumed these would’ve come from Texas or Oklahoma, not Louisiana. Awesome video Grant!
I agree they all turned out nice! I actually thought the same thing too haha glad you enjoyed it!
