      Wow, what an awesome video Chris Haye - and EXTREMELY well put together. In one way I am happy I am only a self-confessed "amateur Channel", as I am not sure I can compete with this kind of quality, hahaha. I was lucky enough to be given a preview of the cars as well - but with my "situational" change, then bloody real-life hassles are just getting in the way to get a video out before the official release date most likely. But thanks to the kindness of both DrDoomsLab & Bazza, I'll try to put something together soon - and can't wait to give these cars a whirl when I can. And as always Chris - so looking forward to your next video release whatever that may be, and is that the faint sound of SIX THOUSAND SUBS I hear in the distance ;P

    Excellent video Mr. Haye! I'm new to AC and I love this era of racing as I was a young boy during that time (I started HS in 67). I remember quite a lot from Jimmy Clarke's time as champion, he was my favorite driver so it's a real pleasure to get to drive these sim-cars especially the Lotus 49! I've been driving the older version, mostly the Cooper as I seem to be able to hang on to it the best! Thanks to Bazza for all his hard work, much appreciated!

    Thank you! Many great tracks in those times too. Among these, I would definitely advise you to try the old 1966 Spa-Francorchamps version. The Masta Kink "was by far the most difficult corner in the world", according to Jackie Stewart! Dan Gurney won the 1967 F1 GP there, Bruce Mc Laren won in 1968, and Pedro Rodriguez won the last F1 GP on the old 14km-Spa track (8.76 mi), in 1970. GP Legends indeed!

    Hi @Chris Haye
    big question. Did pilots back in the 50-60's F1 era blip throttle on downshifts, and was left foot braking even used back then? Or did it just depend on the driver?

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  5 лет назад +1

      Hey man. In short, yes. But the long answer is, it depends. Racing gearboxes usually don't use synchromesh to match the speed of the gearbox to the engine, instead they use a 'dog box' which allows shifting without using the clutch. Essentially, you match the revs, lift the throttle, push the car into the next gear and then get back on the gas. But, this is hard on the equipment, so a lot of drivers just would lift on upshifts (which happen at a very predictable time), and use the clutch on downshifts. Whatever method, they'd likely be left foot braking.
      If you've not seen it, race department has a thread that covers double-clutching (amongst other things) and has some foot-work footage from GP drivers at the time.
      www.racedepartment.com/threads/double-clutching-in-simracing.162869/

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  5 лет назад

      Hey Paolo - I don't think you can adjust the driver model that much in Assetto Corsa. I'm no modder, so this question is a bit beyond my experience level. But I see your point, in these cars, where so much of the upper body is visible, the driver models do look very stiff.

      I have the older version but the models and (especially) physics upgrades they've done sound epic!

      Hey Marc - yeah, hard to argue! If you played with any of the earlier versions of the mod then I think you'll be in for a treat with this. It's much more polished now - and a great experience overall.

      Chris Haye I’ve not tried the original mod. I did race GPL a lot back in the day when I ran Legends Central and Race Sim Central.

    I hope that the next updates they improve the body of the lotus, in particular, the rims because are not well modeled, and the ferrari in the previous versions of 1967, because the Kumos are the last 67, pre 68.
    I guess the Eagle, Honda, Brabhan and Cooper models are imported from Forza 7, because are similar detailed. For the lotus, the best model in my opinion is the Proyect Cars, and the ferrari... I don´t know better it.

    Unpopular opinion....but this mod on AC is better than GPL in all ways but one. The original GPL had unrealistic tyre slip angles that just made the game difficult.
    The only aspect missing was the fun crash physics in GPL and sadly gone from all sim racing.

    Update on the use of the mod: I can't seem to get the lotus 33 to work, is there anybody else having trouble even starting a race with it?

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  5 лет назад +1

      Weird - I didn't have any issues with any of the cars - though I got a slightly different build to everyone else. I'll install the release version and give it a try dude.

      @@ChrisHaye Thanks very much! I only have the Japanese pack DLC, so i know the Ferarri wont work, but it didnt say anything about doing something special for the lotus 33 (like the GPL lotus 49 needing a file from the Kunos version) so im just in the dark until then.
