    As a martial artist, I think the first point show is similar in value to the career as your first black belt. You work a long time to get there and it’s a rite of passage, but it many ways it’s also the beginning of a whole new journey. It’s special and precious and a common experience among us.

    My company sells decorated point shoes for each dancer's role they are old shoes signed and decorated with the theme of the part by the dancer who danced the part. Was truly magical for me as a kid getting one of those shoes and now im decorating my old shoes.

      nope not all ballerinas, personally i have a love-hate relationship with pointe i get frustrated but whenever i see the little girls looking at me and smiling while i’m doing basic stuff en pointe (as i’m only 12 and have only been doing pointe for like 1 year) it just makes me love it a little bit more, but i hate it bc i now have calluses on my pinky toes from blisters that healed from my pointe shoes

      @@ItzMeHolly_ If you just started on pointe it may be hard to grasp that there's dancers who will never get there no matter how hard or long they train, but it's a reality for many and why I was okay with moving to team sports only. Having undiagnosed hypermobility in my hips and having it called "weak ankles" (which isn't a thing, btw, and if someone is using the term they lack education on body mechanics and should consult with a physical therapist before continuing to repeat that toxic nonsense), I faced both more pain and risks that weren't even recognized. Personally, I believe in an exam by a physical therapist who has specialized in working with dancers before girls go on pointe because it can cause injuries that could be prevented with the correct training for the individual needs.

    I wanted to do ballet so bad when I was little, but we just couldn’t afford it. One of my elementary school best friends lived and breathed ballet. I was so jealous of her. Mom took me to see the nutcracker one time (I have a suspicion my friends mom gave us tickets) and at intermission they had the dancers old pointe shoes for sale. I wanted some so badly, but of course they were priced high as some sort of fund raiser and we couldn’t get one. Ballet dancers have to be one of the most beautiful things in the world. 😍

    Someone needs to invent stronger pointe shoes that will last longer

    • @TallulahFoxxx
      @TallulahFoxxx Год назад +1

      It’s not about strength, and there’s a reason they are the way they are lol. Brand new pointe shoes are stiff and quite inflexible. They provide a lot of support and stability, but don’t allow for much movement of the foot since they’re so stiff. If you imagine wearing brand new leather winter boots - you can’t bend your toes properly as you walk, since the leather is still so stiff. You end up walking flat footed until they get more pliable. Ballet and pointe shoes are the same - they need to be “broken in”.
      There’s a small window of time when they’re the perfect fit: if they’re too “new” they’re not flexible enough to really point the toes and get enough foot movement. If they’re too worn in, they’re *too* flexible and don’t support the foot and ankle correctly - they bend too much and cause instability ☺️
      It’s pretty much impossible to create a shoe that will stay in that sweet spot, since it’s different for every dancer. It depends on your own body. I have hypermobile joints, so my ankles are too bendy - I preferred my shoes on the stiffer side to support my ankle more. Other dancers preferred their shoes to be almost ruined because they have stiffer joints and the flexibility of the shoe allowed them to get a better range of motion.
      In summary: it’s not about shoe strength being the main issue (I mean within good quality shoemakers). Everyone’s feet are different and how long a shoe lasts depends on so many factors. Some dancers go through shoes at double the rate of others. It’s too personalised to make any difference to the manufacturing of pointe shoes ☺️

    • @bemboob
      @bemboob Год назад +24

      they’re doing releves bro. it’s clearly a warmup. it’s not a big deal. and when it’s a simple exercise, it doesn’t even matter what the timing is. it’s about technique and musicality.

    • @momentarilylapse
      @momentarilylapse Год назад +13

      When you watch pro level classes on World Ballet Day and such, it's common to see dancers vary the tempo, arms, etc. They are professionals, so they're not there to try and impress the teacher - the class is there for them to warm up and work on whatever aspects they want to improve.

    • @horse_addictforlife_ECuestrian
      @horse_addictforlife_ECuestrian Год назад +4

      I think you don't know how ballet companies work... These exercises are just to practice technique and warm-up, it doesn't matter if they're out of time because ballerinas tend to try and fill up the music as they're dancing, they don't HAVE to be on time.
