@@RobCharles1981 I don't know, Rob. I am out of practice now, but I can play piano reasonably decently. I took an organ lesson at a church fundraiser, and we never got to the "agony of de feet," because Jan Stewart was too busy patiently trying to break me of all my bad finger release habits that I could cover with the piano's sustain pedal. :)
My favourite hymn played by a wonderfully talented organist. The sound of the organ is a incredible sound. It makes the hair on my neck stand on rnd it does! Thankyou again.
My dad died when I was 8 and when we arrived at the cemetery the chimes in the bell tower were playing this hymn and it has special meaning for me and play it often myself. My dad was a church organist for many years and he gave concerts also.He wad also along with 4 of his 6 sons piano tuners and repaired and tuned organs and I as a young boy got to go in many of the large organ chambers and watch my brothers tune the organs .Some of the larger organs as you know had many ranks and took considerable time in a complete tuning. Thanks Rob for the many fine hymns you play.
While in college my husband repaired electronic organs for Baldwin Piano and Organ Co in San Diego...he found many of the problems was mouse nest and gold contacts corroded. Lovely music...oh how I wish i'd kept playing pipe organ, but impossible to overcome the few seconds time delay.
This hymn was sung as the opening hymn at my Grandad's funeral on 7 November 2016 (the day before the US Presidential Election). He died in October that year.
All I would wish at the end of my life is for Our Lord Jesus Christ to receive me in Heaven. However, upon my departure from Earth, I want this hymn to be sung before my final departure in my casket!
He will be waiting at the golden gate for you with all departed loved ones by his side. I still think you have a good bit of trouble to cause yet my friend 😜.
My fave hymn played at my Nan's funeral the first one on the programe she lived for 90 years and you get the sense of her life in this hymn and remember. It really made me come to god.
Rob this is another beautiful hymn that The Lord uses to minister to me and shape me for future service in his work of ministering to others. The Lord has made you a really great blessing to all of us who listen to your beautiful playing.
Got a vision that I were Singing that hymn on 27 of March 2021. So please people pray for me and my family that we all make in. Thanks for reading. Very powerful hymn and words.
Lost my dog after a vision of death. She passed as it was in my dream a week prior. I could have averted the disaster if I had the discernment to 'see' the signs & act on the warnings given to me. Follow your heart. She died from an allergy to shellfish and my carelessness using shellfish powder around the house closed her throat. I had no Benadryl in the home and the allergen was all over the window sills. I literally killed my own pet. My beloved little girl dog. Blessings to you.
Very well done, and the booming, modulated last verse is absolutely thrilling! This is my favorite hymn to play for funerals. I will share this at the office tomorrow, the lady in the next office lost her parents when she was very young, but remembers "Abide With Me" being played at both funerals.
Rob.......you bring to me much joy into my world when so much in the world today is nothing but sadness. Your ability playing this magnificent organ is outstanding. You are the best! Please continue to keep playing.
Wow! Another favourite hymn of mine packed full of blessings! Hallelujah...O Thou Who changest not ABIDE WITH ME! Oh to be there to hear it played! Well, I'll just have to hit replay here! :) Thanks for sharing your gift!
This is one of the most finely played versions of this tune I have ever heard. Awesome video mate, played by a greatly talented person. Thanks for uploading.
Very well played. Reminds me of being around the cenotaph with my scout group! I had to play the hymns for church on Sunday, Jesus is Lord and Praise my Soul. Thanks for playing this so beautifully. Once again I am blown away by this magnificent performance. Matthew, St Michaels and All Angels Church.
RobCharles1981 ah OK. Well God bless you. You play beautifully. And the organ really is a beautiful instrument. I hope to hear you again. And my very best wishes from Nottingham. John.
In a previous life, I served as organist in a small catholic parish in Northern Italy for more than a decade. This tune was very popular there, with matching lyrics that are faithful to the original. It was one of my favorite to play, because of its detailed harmonization. Your excellent rendition brought my memory back 20 years. Truly, truly, thanks for sharing.
Wow. I got chills. Beautifully done. There’s nothing like a good old hymn on the pipe organ played by an amazingly talented organist like yourself. Thank you for sharing this.
I've listened to this video so many times, such a perfect tune, and so perfectly played. you wouldn't happen to have notation for the last part you played, with the different harmonies and chords. as a keen musician its been bugging me for a while not knowing how to recreate the same sound. Many thanks, Rob (bobo102) :D
I know I only commented yesterday, but can’t get enough of these videos. I’ve been in the funeral profession for 24 years, and you are, by far, the best organist I’ve ever seen. Absolutely amazing.
“Abide With Me” is pretty much my favorite hymn of all. I have enjoyed listening to you play this hymn, including your other videos with that same hymn. However this video from 2012 is probably my favorite among the other two supposedly. This hymn helps me heal through hard times, including the times right now. I have learned to play this on the piano using the Methodist hymnal and have a created a virtual vocal quintet of it too. You’ve been an amazing organist Rob, and I hope to hear more great hymns in the future!
Very good rendition. .. Thank you..Please keep up the good work.. God needs us more than ever in this "covid crisis." Prayer to the Holy Spirit (St Augustine) Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen
i enjoy the evening hymns. I sometimes use evrning hymns at our afternoon servic in the villshe where i live. Unfortunately i have been able to bring the majedty of your playing in my playing. We don't have a pie organ . thanks for your playing.
Marvelous. As far as music goes I taught myself to play guitar. My mother taught herself to play piano but seldom had the confidence to play in public. In her later years she had a Thomas organ in her apartment. Mom had to teach herself because her mother who died before I was born stopped teaching her at the age of four because she would not practice. Grandmother was a music teacher and a church organist. Never having a chance to hear her play I have seen but never heard the organ she once played at the First Welsh Baptist Church Of Scranton Pennsylvania. I'm sure this is one she would have played and it would sound much like this. The old Austin now belongs to the University Of Scranton.
Thanks Peter, Haha the Rob Charles Special at the end - I just hope King Arthur had the volume turned up his end and I hope Glad and next door where out! :-)
Wow! Now THAT was thrilling, Mr. Charles: you performed this terrific hymn with great devotion--both to your faith and to the art of music making. You should be very proud indeed, sir.
Words can honestly not describe how beautiful this is. You can really hear the power from the Organ. Just beautiful!
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed!
I find it difficult even to work with one hand. These guys are incredible
I'll never understand how organists can play with both hands and both feet. It is incredible, it would make my brain explode.
+pgzzz Its easy practice and determination! :o)
Like riding a bike or driving a car. I love to watch the pedals.

ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A ORGANIST HA HA
Muito legal mesmo! Além de tocar com as mãos e os pés, alguns ainda cantam
There's always something about those chord progressions in the final verse/refrain that really get to your heart.
I totally agree I love this!!
The light of Lord Jesus Christ shines down on us, I we receive His blessings daily. Amen!

Closing out the day with Abide With Me. My heart is full. Thank you, Rob ..... rendered so beautifully. I’m moved to tears .. 🙏 ❤️🎶 🇺🇸
