Pretty cool and simple explanation! That helps clear up a lot of things for me. For example:
I recently worked at a CO2 processing plant where our compressors had Logix redundancy, redundant rack with synced controllers. At the same plant, we had a Glycol unit, which had no redundant
I/O but had an in-chassis Logix safety controller.
Now I’m working on facilities where we have Logix 1715 redundant I/O with their own controller, but it isn’t synced with the main and there’s no Logix safety controller.
Pretty cool to see the different SIL levels in action!

Any thoughts on collaborative robots? Designing a system with a co bot and a micro 850 to do the hard thinking

Hi Bob, definitely need to consult the robot manufacturer.

@@TimWilborne Thanks for the reply, I am in close contact with the manufacturer of the co bot we purchased, and their support and training is great, the bot itself will be handling most of its own controls, the micro 850 is to handle another process and let the cobot know when the process is ready for it to do something.
Anyways, thanks again, I am now realizing the topic is likely a bit more complicated than fits in a RUclips comment.
