Get a plumber. Take a break and go get your lovely children. Maybe take a short nap??? You two have worked overtime building the gorgeous home and it shows it too. Look at all the "SKILLS" you've both picked up along this journey. I am so excited as you two are on scratching off one more item on your list of things to do. So proud of both of you. God's Blessings to you ALL.
Just a pointer on that outside hydrant. Those are meant to be ran into a condition space. On the exterior wall you tan it in then 90’d down that outside wall into the crawl space, it will guaranteed freeze in the outside wall. Would be way better to run through the rim joist just like you did with the dryer vent. If ever there is a problem then it all can be accessed from the crawl space, as you have it now it will require you to cut out the Sheetrock or whatever you put on the wall to fix it when it does freeze.
Running it through the rim joist would have put it below the deck level. I'm going to install a shutoff/drain so I can drain the line to that hose bib in the winter. Thanks for the tip though, it would certainly be back news if that froze..
Tires sink in the ground a bit . It takes mussels to move a trailer. Happy birthday Ryan you are as old as my son. You two have done so much and are smarter for it.
LOVE my tankless water heater. Ours has a fuse on the motherboard. Order a pack because we found when we needed to replace the fuse that we couldn’t get it anywhere. We had to heat water and use a bucket system for 6 days until the pack of 5 fuses arrived.
we built our home 20 years ago and installed the tankless water heater and have we have never been sorry about getting it .. it was " NEW " technology then and our plumber didnt know to add shut off valves on the unit so it could be flushed out ..Still working great.. have never ran out of hot water..
The first tankless was installed by a pro’s. Lol lol That did not go so well. The first one almost burned down my mom’s house. Her second was a little better. But she couldn’t run the shower and sink at the same time. Now she has a new place and I installed it. She loves it. No problems and I am not a pro. Now for our house we have a hybrid/heat pump hot water heater. Love it!!!! It coast around $10 to $12 month to run it.
I installed a tankless in my old house. The thing I didn’t like was that it took longer for the water to warm up. Having the recirculating hot water will prevent you from having that issue though.
My personal experience is that there is very little “instant” about instant water heaters. Large amounts of water wasted waiting for hot water, even with a recirculating pump. Mixing valves can also significantly delay hit water.
Plumbing is the worst. God bless plumbers lol I honestly am amazed and surprised everytime I flush my toilets that somehow it all works when because I put it in.
Do the plumbing yourself, Use a black marker , draw a straighr line on both pieces of pipe, pull apart and glue and put together and line up the lines, easy as 1,2,3,
One suggestion for lifting heavy stuff onto your deck: stand a couple of 2x's against the deck on a slant, lean the heavy thing on them, then pick up the bottom and slide it ono the deck. Easy peasy. ❤ 😊
Keep doing it for yourselves and you won't regret it when you're sitting on the deck watching the sun go down in a couple years and say we did this thing. Woo yeah
great to hear. I'm hoping the system works out like I hope it will. Do you have your recirculating pump run all the time, on a timer, or just on demand?
@@OneFootOfftheGrid all the time :) I tried the smart feature and was thinking, why bother, the convenience is worth something. I didn't do the calculations how much it will save. Btw, I'm across the water in Sammamish WA, so very similar weather.
Well... years ago I learned about the importance of what they call "positive self-speak"... that running dialogue in your head as you contemplate options. Quickly... or maybe not so quickly... I learned to turn "I hate plumbing" into "Plumbing is my least favorite job right now". Like anything, practice makes all the difference. I'd suggest doing it yourselves... but try to adopt the positive self speak too because it DOES, eventually, make a difference. Good luck.
Hi Sarah and Ryan!! Great to see you both again!! Good news! I have a tankless hot water system! It’s the best thing both in getting unlimited water but also it’s cheaper to run than a tank one. I have had mine for about three years now and it’s well and truly paid for itself! I believe with the kids you won’t regret hav8ng it. Talking of the kids…the young lad who was sitting behind Ryan in the car was priceless when you said about getting toilets showers etc. He gasped and laughed in joy! So l gather he too will be happy to have these things installed too!! Looks like you are getting close to another inspection and then starting the installation of all the fittings. So exciting! I hope you all had an awesome Easter and did not over indulge in chocolate!! Take care. Big hugs for you all. Di.
I've heard it called a navy shower. While in the navy and assigned to submarines water is a premium. So you have to turn water off and on to conserve water. While I was stationed in Berlin, Germany, I rented an apartment near my Army Base that had a tiny on demand water heater. Literally took 5 tank loads just to take one shower. I get it.
I was glad to see you went with Elongated Toilets. My current house has small bathrooms and we have Kohler round and I wish we had elongated. A month back a neighbor asked if I could look at their unit as it wasn't working. That was the first time I ran into the new Canister flush valves. Theirs just untwisted and fell off so it was easy to fix. One thing I noticed it the canister like most overflows are low to keep the flush to 1.28 GPF. If you want to get a better flush you can buy a rubber pipe coupling that tightens with a hose clamp and make the canister taller so more water sits in your tank making your flush better. It's nice saving water but the more water on a flush moves things better inside pipes. I couldn't tell but did that water hose bib have a pex connector or a sharkbite push connector? It looked kind of brass or maybe it was just the lighting.
The fitting on the bib was just NPT pipe thread and then I added a 90 degree sharkbite fitting. Debating if I want to have a sharkbite fitting behind the wall, so I might remove it and swap it with a pex fitting. Agree with the toilet flush rate. It's good to save water, but especially on septic, I want to make sure we have enough water flowing to make she system work right.
I know you would like to do everything on your own. But I think hire it done . There will be less frustration, and you can move on to more exciting things
I'd hire a plumber, but I'm impatient too, and it seems like it's taken you forever to get this far. Y'all just need a break and let someone else do it
Hire a plumber, not hire a plumber that is the question? If in a year you will regret not having done the work yourself don’t hire the plumber. But it may be worth it to have a toilet, shower and maybe a washing machine?

Just double check the fittings. My friends.leaked in the wall. Thousands of dollars later, months of repairs. Good thing they had ins.

Yes, I'm hoping that the recirculating system will help with that problem. Sara said she didn't mind waiting, but it bugs me having to wait.
My personal experience is that there is very little “instant” about instant water heaters. Large amounts of water wasted waiting for hot water, even with a recirculating pump. Mixing valves can also significantly delay hit water.
I love my tankless so much that I also have a one in my garage. No more heating water just to let it sit and cool down.
Tankless heaters are great….more common in Europe than in North America. I have had one for 22 years and love it
Plumbing is the worst. God bless plumbers lol I honestly am amazed and surprised everytime I flush my toilets that somehow it all works when because I put it in.
I’m thinking the same thing. I won’t be satisfied until I see the whole system working.
I lived in uk for nine years with a tankless heater. I miss it dreadfully. Best system yet!
In Australia, we went to the tankless water heater last year and it’s great.
Your getting there keep on smiling..

We always had a tank for hot water. Now we are on our second combi boiler,we love the combi, hope you do too.
Keep doing it for yourselves and you won't regret it when you're sitting on the deck watching the sun go down in a couple years and say we did this thing. Woo yeah
Hint: When applying teflon tape to a fitting in a tight spot, first wrap it around a pencil. Saw this on You Tube.
Another way to make that dryer vent pipe fit the outside wall is to taper the hole with your router.
we have had it for 30 years in the uk but our also heats the house much more efficient
I served in the Army tractor up
Hello guys, we have just had a tankless system installed and it's great for high pressure instant hot water!
I love our tankless (mounted outside) and we have the recirculating pump as well. Always quick and hot water.
great to hear. I'm hoping the system works out like I hope it will. Do you have your recirculating pump run all the time, on a timer, or just on demand?

wet-back to your fire maybe, not sure if compatible and outside insulated water heater, or nxt to fire cylinder, free hot water with the fire
well I am trained carpenter so I built howes before and it is best to get a plumber in and get it done

im a retired plumber to me a tankless is trash but to each his own.
I've heard that from 2 different plumbers
For what reasons? What doesn’t work well with a tankless?
If you know how to do and have ability to execute the ther's no need for professionals !! You must be proud of yourselves young couple ..
We installed a tankless water heater 15 gears ago. Love it!
I would go for a plumber because it will speed up your move into your lovely house

Its like building a PB sandwich. LOL

I have a tank water heater but it's just me but I'm sure that might be ok for you guys
Make it easy on yourselves and hire a plumber
I know you would like to do everything on your own. But I think hire it done . There will be less frustration, and you can move on to more exciting things

One job at a time, and you'll creep up on the finish

👋😊🤗🙋♂️🇩🇪
After all you've done, you want the pro's to do the simple s- - t .Now is not the time to turn into a quitter.
ya plumbing sucks because everything is in 3 or 4 like 2 water lines in and one out and every time you add just 1 room it seems to double the work
Hire a plumber, not hire a plumber that is the question? If in a year you will regret not having done the work yourself don’t hire the plumber. But it may be worth it to have a toilet, shower and maybe a washing machine?
library plumbing book the pros can mess up just like you. you do ir cheaper........
Tankless is the way to go. Just stay away from Navian
F your not in a time crunch do the gluing yourself
I think that is what we will end up doing. Where we are it is tough to even get a plumber to call you back.
