Madelaine said in an interview that the scene between Cheryl and Archie, where she kisses him, was originally meant to be longer with Cheryl delving deeper into how her parents preferred Jason and how she really just wants to be loved and they cut it to save time. The "My lipstick's Maple Red by the way..." line was the end of that discussion and is basically Cheryl saying to Archie that she did all this for him because she was desperate for love and really wanted Archie to like her for who she was, so she showered him with privilege and expensive gifts in order to hold on to him and get him to like her back. Cheryl really is such a tragic character; she deserves all the love.... cries...
