Pretty nice video and article. I couldn't find the second part, are you planning another video using it with other Micro Amps as you mentioned on the first article?
Thanks for the kind words! We do have part 2 coming, just taken a while putting together! Also plan to review the other mini amps (We have already done the Mini Soldano) 🤘
Massive difference when overdriven. Are you running an IR loader pedal here? Especially interested in the new TC ir loader, that should work with the micro terror headphone out right?
Not running a IR pedal, Using Logic to load in an IR. I have since been using Get good Cab sims and it sounds amazing! I saw the TC pedal, Looks interesting, Could have the Micro terror and pedal all on a pedal for a compact rig.
Hi, thx, but how do you do that? I got one and the headphone out is very very not good, with a pedal? In a laptop? How do you use the IR? Can you share a scheme?
If you head over to the full article we explain it all. However, we take the headphone out on the amp and plug into an audio interface then add a IR (you can use whatever software you want). I like two notes or getgooddrums. 🤘
Honestly? It sounds great! Of course it depends on speaker choice, but for the size it sounds mint! I do think you would struggle to run it in a full band setup without having to mic it though.
For this video I was using the headphone out. Which is line level! If you plugged direct from the speaker out of the amp you might run Into some issues! 🤘
IR stands for Impulse Response, and it is a WAV file that contains the behaviour of a cabinet as far as its frequency response is concerned, So you can add this response on top of a preamp + power amp signal to complete the parts constituting an Electric Guitar Amplifier Tone. the reason it is called an impulse response is because it is captured by placing a microphone infront of a cabinet that has an electric guitar Amplifier speaker inside, and the speaker gets hooked up to a normal Full Range Amplifier. This Amplifier is then fed with a frequency sweep from 20 Hz all the way up to 20 Khz, The microphone then captures the frequency sweep sound and transforms it into a WAV file using Mathematical algorithms using computer software, and this WAV file can be added to any Electric Guitar Amplifier sound To emulate the presence of a cabinet. You will then have the convenience to try different sounds with different cabinets using different IRs to achieve the tone you are looking for ;)
I believe the headphone output is after the effects loops so you should be all good! The Micro dark does have a Cab Sim on the headphone out but I don't think it is the best mind.
@@gigsandguitars6921 went with the katana 50 mkII. Such a good amp especially with tone studio. I did hear a lot about that headphone out on the orange which is why i didn’t go for it since i’m mostly in a quiet environment, but the speaker rocks too!
Great video, really clear examples, love it! That crunch tone with the gain half way into the twin IR was sweet!
Great Example of how great the Micro Terror can be!

that Orange 212 sounded tight on the high gain!

Is that a dummy load plugged into the amp output?
Nope! As long as you have a connection from the headphone out you don’t need a load plugged in! 🤘

Just wondering, if you have a cab that you're happy with, does an old school miking up deliver a better result?

@@gigsandguitars6921 Cheers!
Couldn’t possibly blow the preamp on the interface? Also, are you plugging it to the DI on the interface ?

What is an ir, i don’t understand, just got a micro terror for myself, and havent gotten acab yet

@@hashemamer8515 This is an excellent explanation.
@@gigsandguitars6921 Thank you, i really appreciate it.
For the micro dark, can you hear any pedals you have in the fx loop from the headphone out?

@@gigsandguitars6921 It's not a cab sim on the Micro Dark. just EQ / filtering to sound like a cab.
@@Dani-El. It is, but I would just class it as a "Emulated Cab Sim". But good point!
