htttp://musicfog.com Carrie Rodriguez and Hans Holzen perform "Absence" during the Music Fog showcase. Filmed at Threadgill's WHQ in Austin, Texas during SXSW 2010.
She is the real deal....loaded with talent!!! We saw her about 3 yrs ago opening for John Prine and she blew us away. I went out front and bought her "She Ain't Me" CD. I keep hoping she makes it big, she deserves it :)
Saw Carrie the first time this past Sunday and absolutely loved her performance. As observed earlier, she is as nice as she is talented and hopefully will see her live again soon.
Have to agree. Have been catching her shows since 2007 and they just get better. Last friday at Turner hall in Milwaukee was exceptional. Hard to believe a fiddle and acoustic and steel guitar could fill that venue. What a show! She is the rare artist who is so much better live than in the studio.
I've had the great good fortune of seeing Carrie and her band 3 different times at Redfish Lake in Idaho. I am also happy to say she is as nice as she is talented. Was thrilled to see her on Jay Leno with Jeff Bridges!
Discovered her today by accident.........going to see in Sebastapol on March 1st. Really a diamond,God, she can play that fiddle.. She will be phenomenal Live! Only 19 bucks!!! ,,,a steal!
I saw her last night at the State Room in SLC. She's amazing! Beautiful, witty and so talented! The show felt too short. I wish she could have play all night!
I admire how Carrie & Hans can go back and forth between electric and acoustic arrangements with both versions retaining the focus on the song rather than style.
Carrie sort of haunts me. I can't get her songs out of my mind. Why? This video shows it. The fire. That awesome voice. The way she attacks that fiddle. She is ablaze, right there, on stage. Plus ... well .. she is about as loveable as any singer on Earth.
I'm still recovering from some mind-bendingly good music at Celtic Connections fest, love this track, would love to see Carrie at CC Jan 2014 - any chance???
I listened to this song a hundred times trying to figure out what exactly you were saying. I thought you were saying "I said ____ is the hardest truth". BUt no, You said "Absence is the hardest truth." Duh, sometimes smart people can be so dumb :)

The real deal. This music has deep roots and soul. Beautiful.
Carrie Rodriguez gives me hope that music is still real, and talented people are abundant, and we haven't gone to hell in a handbasket yet.
Swing it and sing it !! Fabulous !! Thank you !!!
I've never seen anyone else play the fiddle and sing at the same time. That's remarkable.
