    🎸 ACOUSTIC FINGERSTYLE LEVEL 1 [Full 20 Lesson Course] Beginners
    Welcome to our Acoustic Fingerstyle Level 1 course! We're very excited to be welcoming the incredible Thomas back to the world of YGA to help us film and put together this course. There is no better fingerstyle player and tutor to guide you through this incredible style of guitar playing.
    Fingerstyle, as a technique, is extremely powerful. It has the ability to take all of the chords that you already use regularly, and turn them into something magical.
    When you put the plectrum down and start using your fingers you open up a whole new world of sounds. You can play those same open chord shapes that you've been playing since you started your guitar journey, but suddenly you can pick out individual notes, access specific melodies within the chords, and create entirely fresh, new compositions. It really is exciting to see it come together, and in this course, we take you from the ground up, as a beginner to the technique.

      @@JimWisecrack94 Thanks for asking Jim! I've taken this course very slowly with lots of practice and am now around lesson 15. Changing chords with a pick in the other hand is relatively simple compared to thinking about each finger on the left hand and each on the right separately - I would never master the piano!

    Wow. Great content, I'm glad I found this course. I'm finishing up another course, but will definitely join YGA next month and work through at least all the fingerstyle course. Thanks for sharing these videos.
    Having said that, I notice at the start of each video, he mentions tabs and material free at the link below, but the link doesn't take you to that. Not sure if I'm missing something or you, rightly, I might add, decided to quit giving away the whole farm. The videos free on RUclips are certainly generous enough, but just wanted to point out it is a bit confusing at first.
    Anyway, see you in July at the latest.

      Hopefully the teacher will respond, but just my two cents as an intermediate finger-picker going through this course as a way of refreshing my fundamentals. I plan to learn techniques like this as a way to expand my repertoire of tools. If I were already an advanced player, and knew exactly how I want to play at a high level, I wouldn't bother, but as I am still finding my way I think learning other ways of doing things can only help me. Also, if I continue to higher levels of this course, if I were to use some other technique it might make some of those lessons more confusing to absorb. So that's my advice - learn it this way, unless it seems to require too much effort that would be blocking your enjoyment, and then later on decide which works better for you.

  • @spectralplane1032

    Great, I'll be trying it out. I would just point out that the course is free on RUclips, but not on the website, and the tabs and backing tracks are not free either. If you go to the website the first 5 videos are there with no downloads, and to access the rest you have to sign up, give credit card info, and get charged after 14 days. To be fair, the courses there look interesting, and I'll probably sign up after trying this course. But this course is not completely free, only the video content on RUclips.

    • @yga
      @yga  8 месяцев назад

      We used to have free content over on our website, but we felt that in doing so we were limiting our potential. As we're only a small team of people working super hard to create the best content we can, we felt that we had to change our model.
      Dan explains everything in a blog post here - yourguitaracademy.com/blog/announcements/important-course-update

    How do you stop your fingers from touching another string on a narrow-necked guitar?

    • @yga
      @yga  6 месяцев назад +1

      One technique you can try is to focus on keeping your fingers arched and pressing down on the strings with the tips, rather than the pads, of your fingers. This can help reduce the chances of accidentally touching other strings.
