This was what I liked about Capaldi's Doctor. They went back to regeneration amnesia as a side effect rather than needing something food/drink related to "fix" the problem. A throwback to classic Who.
It was a nice callback that for some reason made me specifically think of the fourth(might be misremembering) doctor wanting his shoes and when he gets them he just frantically grabs them and turns ok his side, holding them like a teddy bear

Andrew Fish True. I believe this premiere was created after series 8's script was finished in order to introduce Capaldi's Doctor and show the Regeneration Sickness. But the rest of series 8 was, I believe, already written or finishing up being written before Matt left, as it was originally meant to be his last season instead, so they didn't change the scripts much.
Traditionally, they filmed sequences out of order to give the new actor time to adapt to their own interpretation of the Doctor. This is the FIRST time, however, that the new Doctor's first episode was filmed in real time. So this clip, we are literally seeing the first time Peter Capaldi was the Doctor. And it was glorious.

Will Wheaton said once that whenever the Doctor regenerates, you can see flashes of the previous Doctor there and I kind of agree. With this scene, you can see brief flashes of the 11th Doctor as the 12th Doctor’s personality begins to come in, like in his reactions and mannerisms as he tries to recall Clara. Peter Capaldi in my opinion captured the Doctor’s unadjustment after a regeneration the best out of all of the Doctor’s. You really feel in his shoes as a new man who’s grasping to remember what was whilst being completely mentally dissociated
you know what my favorite Capaldi quote is it’s in this very same episode and I quote “Sorry sorry it’s all my fault my time machine got stuck in your throat it happens I brought you along by accident that’s mostly how I meet girls but don’t worry I promise I will get you home” it’s funny I swear one of my favorite doctor quotes of all time
"I tried. I want you to remember that. I tried to reach out. I tried to understand you, but I think that you understand us perfectly. And I think that you just don't care! And I don't know whether you are here to invade, infiltrate, or just replace us! I don't suppose it really matters now--you are monsters! That is the role you seem determined to play, so it seems that I must play mine: the man that stops the monsters. "I'm sending you back to your own dimension! Who knows? Some of you may even survive the trip. And if you do, remember this: you are not welcome here! This plane is protected! I am the Doctor...and I name you...the Boneless!" -The Twelfth Doctor (Flatline) I think you should upload this scene soon. One of the highlights of Series 8 for sure.
His post-regeneration amnesia is deeply moving to me; this was the period that I began to hate Clara. Her friend is literally having a mental crisis and her only thought is how can we "fix" him. Poor twelve😢
In fairness to her, in the past hour or two, her friend had gone from naked, to old, then very old, then back to normal, and then old and Scottish with a nasty case of Amnesia. You can't blame her for being confused out of her wits.
People saying it was bad Clara didn't trust/like 12 should rewatch this scene Homie was absolutely tripping & i doubt she'd seen the doctor post-regeneration before
I have worked on that organ. I know how hard it is to keep one after all these years. Congratulations on keeping your B3 and the Leslie. You have mastered a disappearing art form.
The green one and the...not so green one! Or it could be the other way around! x) I love this doctor since the day he arrived to the TARDIS, I can see he is still the same man like all the previous incarnations.
Thinking ahead, if this group ever meets the next Doctor... "Doctor?... Something looks different about you..." *eye roll "You'll figure it out eventually, Strax."
After the 12th Doctor said "Shush !" and "I was being chased by a giant dinosaur but I think I managed to give it the slip !" he closed and slammed the Tardis door twice and opens it slowly for the third time. The 4th Doctor did the same thing as well but his lines was "Can't ! Can't ! There is no such word as can't !" and then he closed and slammed the door. After the line "Really ?! Goodbye !" he closed and slammed the door for the second time and then opens slowly for the third time.
When he goes Shush and go back to the Tardis and comes back out and goes I think I am being chase by a big dinosaur but I think I given it the slip. I knew at this point that I am gonna love Peter and I did. 😂
My first exposure to Dr Who was Fridays at midnight on a local PBS station (before cable was widespread). My dad and I kind of made a thing of it for about a year. They would do three episodes in a row. They were all English with special effects that were awful even for that time. The stories could be thought provoking, sometimes metaphysically, sometimes in a hard science way. Always entertaining. And that Tom Bombadil like Doctor with his busy stride, long scarf, and curly hair not quite tamed by a floppy suede hat. His eyes wide and he was always bursting into scene, the camera chasing him here and there. He was wildly manic with moments of solemnity that carried great weight due the contrast. If this Doctor came into the room subdued you knew there was trouble. That’s why Capaldi could come close to my esteem of Baker. He was a mirror to 4th Doctor. Capaldi could be wild eye and all agape, a shock of curly hair with a more refined sense of dress. But he was more subdued with maniacal moments, moments of great feeling and passion. The more intense those moments, the more trouble was on the way. Baker is my Doctor, but Capaldi had my favorite Doctor moments.
This is an old post, nobody would notice this any but either way I found out "well the, here we go again" is just a quote taken from the old doctor who series

you know what my favorite Capaldi quote is it’s in this very same episode and I quote “Sorry sorry it’s all my fault my time machine got stuck in your throat it happens I brought you along by accident that’s mostly how I meet girls but don’t worry I promise I will get you home” it’s funny I swear one of my favorite doctor quotes of all time
I am the Doctor...and I name you...the Boneless!" -The Twelfth Doctor (Flatline)
I think you should upload this scene soon.
People saying it was bad Clara didn't trust/like 12 should rewatch this scene
Homie was absolutely tripping & i doubt she'd seen the doctor post-regeneration before
I miss all of these characters, I keep re watching the old shows, but, I miss them, good times.

Did dr who just use 2020 slang before it was invented
“Oi big man shut it”
"Everyone take 5!..."
Jonathan Jones "Smoke 'em if you got 'em."
3:34 I see Madame Vastra has been taking some queues from The Brigadier.

Oof
"Here we go again." I love the nod to the late Nicholas Courtney.😀
I have worked on that organ. I know how hard it is to keep one after all these years. Congratulations on keeping your B3 and the Leslie. You have mastered a disappearing art form.
2020 and this was the last Doctor...
HEY! LOOK AT ME! I WANT ATTENTION!
The moment I totally fell in love with Peter Capaldi's Doctor- he was "my" Doctor from the very first second.
The green one and the...not so green one! Or it could be the other way around! x)
I love this doctor since the day he arrived to the TARDIS, I can see he is still the same man like all the previous incarnations.
3:08 Twelve: Everyone, take five! *falls face first unconscious*
Why does it go in slow motion when he points at Clara?
Antony D'Andrea Because Ben Wheatley.
I don't think it's slow motion, he is just slow
Edit: (or maybe not)
Anybody else just love the childlike innocence of the doctor when he/she regenerates?
Who's here after watching Twice Upon a Time ?
MTDL3χ me
meeeeeeeee
Not me :)
“Come out and surrender for the glory of the Sontaran empire!”
*12 comes out*
“Shush”
Thinking ahead, if this group ever meets the next Doctor... "Doctor?... Something looks different about you..." *eye roll "You'll figure it out eventually, Strax."
He won't.
The T-Rex appeared to be at least twice the height of the real thing... for a second, it felt like I was watching an old Godzilla movie!
The doctor being high on regeneration juice is always hilarious
*opens door* "Shush!" *slams door closed*
I love the scene right before this. "Your grasp of biology troubles me."
One thing to worry about the doctor when he regenerates, he makes no sense. Just clap him with a broom
When that post regeneration heart break sets in
"You've got a dinosaur too" Best line

by far my favourite part of the episode
Baker is my Doctor, but Capaldi had my favorite Doctor moments.
i love how Madame Vastra gets to quote the Brig here :)
This is an old post, nobody would notice this any but either way
I found out "well the, here we go again" is just a quote taken from the old doctor who series
Is that a T-rex or Godzilla? That thing is huge!
That's Doctor's lady friend...
Vini Bhatt Don't give her any ideas!
