Oceanus seems to be still born...
Awesome, I loved it, thank you. Btw, is the next part made and released?
😅 ready set go and explore
If the Film Company is need of any Actors, I'm Available and Ready to Work !!
Doesn’t take big studio money to make a great film, just talent and dedication. Well done to all those involved, it was fantastic!
I agree 100%. Very impressive film.
When was this movie released? 😬
They both spread the same interaysial fairytales
@@sticksnstonespatriot1728 Do you mean "fairy tale?" And if so, the logic behind your usage in this context escapes me. The idea of there being different human races is a social construct, not a scientific one. Geneticists have definitively proven this.
@@sabatian1138 Israel 🇮🇱 requires DNA tests , to check j ewishness, for citizenship....
Are you saying they are not a rayce...?
I really hope this gets continued, I was completely absorbed and forgot it was only a short so when it ended I was genuinely "aww I wanna know what happens next"
10/10 👍💯👍💯👍
You and me both!!!
Ditto!
Too much drama, not enough scifi.
Me too. 🤣
Same here!
I cannot believe Megan Dodds, the female protagonist in this gem of a short is 52 years old. She could pass for 32 easily. Great production values and the acting and CGI are equal to anything coming out of Hollywood. Good job!
Dayum 52! She really got the look and the puh tho!!! Booty smash
Agreed and not to downplay it. But this was filmed in 2015
In case you want to look it up yourself. Search FutureDude Oceanus limited series
Keep in mind this was filmed in 2015 so she is in her 40’s. But still looks amazing!
@@Bravo-5-K9 echooooo lol
It’s been over a year. I hope part 2 comes soon, this needs to be concluded
Besides being a really good sci-fi short, this was also a story about healing a relationship. As he said, "We have to disconnect in order for me to get a sense of what the problem is." And quite literally that is what happened; their momentary loss brought them closer together in the end. Very well done.
She had learnt nothing at worse and very little by the end.
She was still the egotistical, selfish, oblivious mess she was at the start.
Would have kept silent were it not for the orc comment below... Your quote and the context it enhances are the best YT comment I've read in ages.Good eye.
Definite metaphors in this one!
I like the twist. It's actually the man who didn't wanna go when we're being given the impression it's the other way around.
Try watching it as a newly married couple who is given over to both of us being workaholic. lol. Agree. Good film!
An actual story line, with enough of an ending to leave you satisfied, but enough unanswered to make you want to see more. It has been a LONG time since I upvoted/commented on a DUST release, but this is really one of the best.
Absolutely beautiful yet terrifying. The hopelessness the viewer feels when we saw the plane. A small glimpse of the now collapsed civilization. The atmosphere, now red and on fire. Brilliant. To say I'm excited for part two is an understatement.
Curious how most scifi productions of the world future are mostly dystopian, dark, dismal, unforgiving. Joseph Campbell would have a great time with current film topics analysis.
I did love the ocean theme society etc
No idea what "the viewer" feels, when "we" see a plane. And, who are "we"?
I'm a latecomer to this video as well as the conversation, but IMHO, the acting, story arc, effects, and direction were all top-notch and left me wanting more. Outstanding job!
Next-gen sci-fi. This sets the standard - and for a "small project" it's truly awesome.
Michael MacDonell, your a wonderful actor, I remember you from a clockwork orange.
@@hartinfilmentertainment4797 Sadly this is not the actor. This is Just Some Bloke that reads an awful lot of science fiction.
If ever a movie should have been two hours or more, this one is it! I'm crushed that this isn't a full movie or series! It is just that good!
This was absolutely brilliant. It was better than anything Hollywood has put out in years. This is amazing science fiction, an excellent and moving story, and something I definitely want to see more of. I really hope this does get made into a series, because I would love to find out what happens next!
These guys are the ones who will be Hollywood some day. Any one of them would jump backwards to land a contract with Universal. If they were truly "better" than Hollywood then people would be lining up outside theaters for Dust. I'm not denigrating Dust, they're doing a fantastic job helping to turn out good future scifi films. I personally would like to see some of these guys in ten years when they have newer ideas and technology for film production.
@@godfreecharlieyeah okay James Cameron what have you done that is even remotely linked to the art of movie making that makes you feel that your opinion matters and you can criticise various aspects of a movie . Do you know anything about budgets, sound design, character development,CGI ,special effects.
As many others are saying, all praise is due to everyone involved with this excellent short film.
I’d also like to add praise for Dust. Wonderful variety of films, uniformly at the least good, at best, outstanding.
The people behind Dust deserve all out thanks.
Definitely pulled me in with the story line. I'm not a film critic, nor a professional in the industry, but I thought Ms. Dodd did a great job of playing the scientist so totally driven that she didn't realize what she was missing until she nearly lost it. And Mr. Atkins clearly showed his conflict between his frustration and professionalism as an engineer. And the overall technical quality was as good as anything I've seen from Hollywood. I never subscribe to anything on youtube. But I'm making an exception in this case, and looking forward to more of this saga.
Yes and yes for a quick movie I am not disappointed or angry but I did however know the black guy was gonna die either 1st or last.
@andyramirez5436 so in other words you only watched the 1st 1/3rd of the film
To be continued???? I WANT IT NOW!!! Seriously, why this isn't a fullblown tv series is beyond me. This is excellent work. From story to actors to the special effects: I LOVE IT ALL!!!!
Please continue. And thank you for sharing this with all of us.
WE want it NOW...!!! :D
AGREED!!!!!!! What happens????? YARGH.
There are alot of shorts on DUST that should be tv series, so many great concepts and ideas, it only shows how broken Hollywood is for innovation and ideas....
TV series are ruined by the eventual failure to find great writers. Oceanus can remain as a unique gem if it's only a miniseries, maybe three or four episodes at the most.
@@stevedubya291 Oh yeah, 30mins gave me more and love it..... i cant wait for part II.
This MUST be continued. Or become a feature film with this as the opening sequence. Great work: script, acting, production value, pacing - everything absolutely perfect and very engaging. Hope to see more of your work!
Dust never fails to amaze me with the creativity and quality of their productions, keep it up!!
Very MUCH looking forward to the possibility of a movie or tv series. This short film only whet my appetite for the Oceanus world!
Anyone know if where getting a part two ? If so when could we hope to see it.
Look below at the director's comment; they are working on a full feature length film based on this.
The suspense build-up was killing me! Love to see more like this.
the suspense should STILL be killing you as nothing fucking happened!
Dust, without a doubt, has THE BEST short films out there. I really hope to see the continuation very soon. As always, great job! 💕
Too bad mainstream Hollywood doesn’t put out stuff this good. THANKS! This is great 🤘 I really hope to see more of this story
That time went so quickly... Engrossing film short and to be continued... Oh... I'm in!
Well done guys
The sound, the lighting, the Special Effects, the plot, the acting - every single piece of this was just exquisite. The pod controls were smooth, simple, the lighting - again - an INCREDIBLY convincing underwater environment, made infinitely more convincing by the distant shots of a person at the controls of the pod (incredible f/x work). I have seen every short out there - literally 99.9% of them - and this was by far the most coherent, best-acted, smoothest-edited, superior computer-generated f/x work, and best-edited short I have ever seen. Much better than some movies.
It must have been very difficult to know when to stop, as the skill level of your team seems boundless - I will be waiting eagerly to see where this goes.
Congratulations - you all have a HUGE future ahead of you.
[Just one (seeming) tiny, tiny error: Under "cast" you have "Commander Mitch as Conrad Bruce Davison" on your comments below the video. I think you meant "Conrad Bruce Davison as Commander Mitch," in keeping with the order of the other credits. This is so small it seems petty to mention it - but it's just the way my mind works].
Congratulations on painstaking, beautiful, and dedicated work well done!
I was going to post a comment but you did it first.

I'm so glad you get what we were trying to do! Thank you so much for your kind words.
Sorry, but the underwater environment is not convincing at all, as it is completely unrealistic. Check my original comment in which I describe it in more detail :-)
*pointing up to beretta9mm1* What he said.
This needs to be a feature length movie!! Absolutely amazing!
Please publish the next episode soon!
I could easily see this as a pilot episode for a series where the underwater science base people try to live through the "end of the world" (aka massive asteroid impact) while rescuing people when possible, and trying to navigate their relationships. It would make for a great twist on the apocalypse survival and lost in space show tropes.
indeed, had more or less the same thought
Director here: you win the prize of the closest estimate of the plan I've created.
an underwater "Zion"
@@jeffreymorris7242 Glad to hear it! Futuredude has been crushing it man, I look forward to more of your stuff. This is a weird way to do it, but if you are looking for a graphic designer, let me know, I'd love to work on one of your projects. Cheers!
Every "trope" is somebody's reality.
By far one of the best shorts I have seen in quite awhile. All the characters were very human and well written. And the ending was not depressing like some shorts tend to be. Bravo!
So true, too many reflect "million dollar baby" quitter pov.
Watch parallel man on dust
The "end of the world" is not depressing?
It is tragic & sad, but there is a spark of hope because they still have each other and their undersea community.
Think of it this way, if for some reason the US ends the Amish wouldn't even notice or care. They have their communities and their families are still together. They will be fine.
@Chickens and Gardening I haven't seen _Don't Look Up_ yet but really looking forward to it.☄️
This needs to be a full length movie! Incredible
Great storytelling with visuals that made the ocean a character in this film. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic and evolving chemistry between the two characters. It was good to see Bruce Davison in a supporting role. Even without going onto the station proper, it was one of the finest undersea bases I have ever seen depicted in a film of any caliber. This was a great indie film, and I hope we get to follow the aftermath of the cataclysm that will change all of their lives, forever...
Being a short, it’s one of the best written Sci-fi stories I've seen in a long time.
Like all the greats that came before, Arthur C.Clark, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, and of course H.G.Wells, Oceanus will leave you in awe with its suspense and intrigue along with it's musical-score that sounds as if where written buy one the long time great masters, leaving you starving for more. This short film is the beginning of a great film that will most certainly stand alongside the great classics!

OCEANUS is an amazing accomplishment!! How does Jeffrey Morris do it?! He always manages to fuel the nostalgia of a bygone era while at the same time creating something totally new and fresh. That's what I love about his work - that it makes me feel like a kid again while reaching for new horizons. More please!
Jeffrey Morris simply does it well.
Okay. Ready for the next part NOW.
This was spectacular. Great characters, totally believable situations and crisis- I need to see MORE PLEASE!! 😊
We need to see way more of this! This grabbed my attention and since it first aired I've been waiting to see a part 2
Im so excited to watch the continuation of this series along with Persephone as well. There is some thing so realistic about his storytelling and the artistic vision that compliments it. Producers should be throwing money at his projects. I truly hope all of Jeffrey Morrises productions come to fruition.
I like that a scifi film is set in our world's oceans. That isn't done often. I am definitely looking forward to the sequel(s).
This stuff is way better then anything on TV or the theaters these days I can’t wait for more!
We definitely need a part 2 or a full movie that was awesome love your work.
Wow, this should be a series! I hope this can be continued to show a full storyline as it has great potential. Love the characters, special effects.
As long as they change the characters for new, relatable and for once original characters then I agree.
Most excellent.
Literally sitting on edge here, anxious to see the sequel/full feature movie. A brilliant short and kudos to the actors! :)

Just fantastic! Real entertainment without any nonsense! Again, JUST FANTASTIC!
More please:) Really, really, well done. For years in high school, my constant projects for science fair were ocean settlements and space settlements. It is really lovely to see someone take on this in this film. Thank you:)
This was a 30 min well spent, thank you to the cast and the production team who made this film brilliant film possible. The fact that you had Malcolm McDowell in your production was truly astonishing. The acting was brilliant and the storyline was impeccable! Hope to see the second part soon!
Thank you for your time and effort everyone who was involved in this production. It was brilliantly done.
Half a day I can not tear myself away from your short films and series! Indescribably! Ladies and gentlemen, you have a place on the big screen, because you have been filming for a long time much better than a big studios!
The Best in all ,actors, acting, plot, design features,ATMOSPERE
Best sci-fi underwater adventure - should be a movie and series !
Hell yeah. Too many outer space scifi stories...where's the successor to "3000 league under the sea"?
Instantly hooked! I was so engrossed, I started to slow breath to conserve air for the journey back.
The plot, the human connection, the effects, the flow, the actors.... You get the point.
Please more now.
That was fantastic, I hope you guys win all the awards, one of the best films Ive seen in a long time.
This man did a wonderful job. His acting carried the story very well. Very good actor. Loved him!
A brilliant story, masterfully told. The human element is never lost to the technology in the story. And the tech is amazing.
VFX are big budget quality and the sets truly fantastic. The sound design and music, perfectly mixed.
I see a singular, clear minded, and unique voice in the writing whose future is to be seen as bright as any of his more famous peers.
I can’t wait to see part two. And if anyone has any sense, this should be further expanded upon beyond even that.
I love Futuredude's plausible technology in science fiction. The magic is in the storytelling, not the tech. Excellent work! Can't wait to see more!
I like to watch Dust movies because the stories are told without further ado. Producers have the ability to summarize everything in a few minutes. My name is Ailton Lemos and it is nice to meet the community who like movies as I do.
3.4 million viewers isn’t quite enough for this amazing piece of science fiction.
Soap opera trash.
@gmonynegro595 what's your favorite sci-fi?
@@tannergoodman8029 I neither read nor watch science fiction.

Oceanus is a rousing, confident story with characters you’ll want to see more of and creativity that can only be told through an independent eye.
Keep them coming, Jeffrey and Future Dude Studios!
This one really had me into it. Can't wait until this is continued. This is by far one of my favorite Channels!
This was beautiful! The craft's graceful movement through the dark and soft ocean was mesmerizing to watch. I'm hooked on the storyline too. Looking forward to more!
Wow! what a nicely done short film. Makes me want more of this. They should make a series out of this. So much potential, unknown plots to explore. This alone should get you guys the budget to get more actors involved.
I would love to see a full movie or even a full series of this. Just blown away at how invested I am after a 30 minute teaser.

Absolutely amazing !!!! With no vulgarities too. !!!! Wonderful !!!
This is absolutely top notch!!! Wow.... script, acting effects... it all comes together brilliantly!
The best Dust short I've seen thus far. The story kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The precarious integrity of the two main characters' existential situation is matched by the uncertainty of their relationship. Awesome parallel! And the acting was excellent, with good chemistry. I can't wait to see the next installment. Compared to mainstream films, the CG wasn't the best, but it was very good for a short. Nice work! I throughly enjoyed this! Thank you! 👍🏽👏🏽
Please please make this a series. It was so amazing and such a cliff hanger. Great job!!!
This is 2nd title I've seen from Futuredude... Now... I'll be searching for more...
This title! Top performances! The graphic, effects, and script - THIS is gripping entertainment and recommended for all PG-13+... Thank you!
Agree.
Thank you for this video, it was very well done. The ship was very realistic, the controls, computer and monitors all were believable. And having these known actors really gave it that boost needed to make you want more...hopefully the "to be continued" comes to fruition.
LOVE the creativity in this story!! Can't wait for the full feature!
One of the best cockpit designs in any sci-fi film. This reminds me of Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous.
This can easily turn into a box office hit. Amazing work done for 30mins. More please!!!! Thank you!
A very convincing and powerful 31 minutes. You literally forget that you are on youtube watching a short film on DUST.
This short is from 2015, and was a prequel to the unreleased film Oceanus: Odyssey One. It's unknown if this movie ever will get finished and funded to completion. But it sure is a great set universe.
Reminds me of the good old PC game Archimedean Dynasty, which evolved into the Aquanox series.
Jeffrey Morris you are a director that needs to have a producer of major films. Your direction is awesome and the film itself the same. This needs to be a full length movie, well done.
Thank you for your kind words. I am developing a full film. Did you see Parallel Man on DUST?
A finely crafted gem of a short, absorbing, believable, dramatic. Bravo!
Awesome craft design, believable dialog, human reactions... I would watch the hell out of this series!!
Wish this was a full blown series! Great job! Excited for Odyssey one!
Exceptionally good. The CG was incredibly smooth with a real world feel in physics. A major production feel with excellent acting and an excellent story line. Very convincing radio byplay to (so often neglected).
Can't wait for the TO BE CONTINUED...

Congratulations on this wonderful achievement!
It was stunning in every respect. I got absolutely sucked in and was totally absorbed by it. I can't wait for the next installment.
What a blockbuster!!!! Amazing concept, visual design, incredible acting and music - 5-star class film!
This is absolutely brilliant, thank you! Everything is absolutely perfect and utterly believeable. Incredible job. Can't wait for the next part
Fantastic! Actually threw in a surprise there with the meteorites... and other elements, well done! Great writing too, like when a character says one thing in context to the conversation but it also means something else... eg: "You got us exactly to where I wanted to be" ...relating to their position in the sea, but also their 'relationship' and being in the sea in the first place. Well done!
I'm so grateful for this splendorous, gorgeous and amazing production. This is top level, with any doubt! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
This is high quality. The conflicts with job and personal relationship, people and the environment, increase interest and suspense.
This is giving me some serious SeaQuest DSV vibes! I LOVE IT!!!
There's not nearly enough underwater Sci-Fi out there.
Sealab 2020, actually. Though honestly, I'd watch Sealab 2021 instead.
Why are these short films better then most sci fi films I’ve seen so far in years please make them longer
I havent't even finished this and I am struck by the ability to convey the emotion; very very good!!

This was most enjoyable. Can't wait for part 2. Thank you for sharing 👍
So much talent. This comment is for all of them. Great story telling. Production quality is amazing. I don't know if this is a side gig for out of work Hollywood movie makers, or a group of independents, but the large production companies should take note of what your doing. So far, I could even enjoy these with my kids and grandkids. Thank you.
I'm back to watch this again. I remember when it first came out... this is among my favorite sci-fi ever. Just something about this left such a pit in my stomach... like an intense dream you wake up from and can't shake the rest of the day...
I hope they continue this series , it was excellent ! This rivals the look of the big budget Hollywood productions!
this short film remains one of my favorites in terms of rendering! I really liked the sets, the submarine really reminded me of a spaceship! the costumes are great! the camera shots are awesome! the whales ...and the three actors are good in their role ...BRAVO !!!
Excellent! Please do continue! We need a second part... and more!
